Personally I'd take the lighter less powerful car around the 'ring, where handling rules.

-raVer-
If the lighter one is a FF car and the heavier one a RWD or AWD , would you take it anyways?

raVer

No. I'd take the RWD or the AWD car.

or do they even out

especially on nurburgring

it totally depends on downforce, which wheel drive, handling etc
You cannot say,in most cases on these numbers which car is faster...

actually weight is not that much of a handicap as long as we aren't talking about MASSIVE amounts of it.

as an example, my 1000kg Ford Mark IV has only 575hp(and a pathetic 4-speed gearbox), BUT it is still faster around the ring than my 792kg ferrari 330 that has 634hp!

Note: i still don't understand HOW it manages to pull faster laps.

I do, the Mark 4 can easily be thrown around corners, without losing much speed! While other cars lose speed this car doesn't. Heck I was suprised about it too and lowered the HP to 350 and still beat a good time!!

Just drive them and you'll soon find out :yuck:

How are we ment to know the answer to the question when you don't provide the facts. For example -

What do you mean by Faster (Faster in a straight line, faster around the nurburgring)

What parts are installed in each car ? (turbo's, engine upgrades .....ect)

Do any of the cars have ballasts ?

What are the cars ? manafacture and make

I believe your trying to find out if its better to have less weight/less power or more weight/more power. It really depends on the car ...............

I would go with the one that I found easyest to drive, that is almost always the faster choice. (when cars are close on pp anyway)

Depends on how well each of the cars handle. You can have a superlight car with a moderate amount of power and it handle like a greasy pig, whereas the heavier car could handle better.
Key thing, regardless, is tuning it to handle well. Get this wrong and it wouldn't matter which one you choose, it will not be as competitive as the other runners. For example, I used the Cusco Subaru in an online race around Spa in a power limited room of up to 502bhp. The Subaru maxed was at 380 something, but handles like a mosquito, and came second only to an Impreza TC, which probably had at least 100bhp more than I did.

Depends on which car, exactly. Not all Car A and Car B are made the same.

But more favorably, I would go with Car A. similar to the GTR-35 TC, that car tears up a lap time in 5:52s, because it has brute power and magically shifts it weight in the right way most of the time.

The other day, I took out the FORD Lightning, Engine Limited down at 505pp, it weighed around 1800kg, I came in 4th of 12. It was hilarious, at how that heavy truck handled it so well, and if I had a plow on the front, I'd have cleared all the snow and cars together. The opponents were all regular tuned cars. I need to tune it better, and win with it.

Most times I think the first would be faster. The weight wouldn't make that much difference in the corners. That much power difference on the other hand will make for better acceleration and top speed. If the second car is a racecar like a supergt on the other hand it probably would win.
