Okay, first I haf to agree with Master Yoda, what are we talkin about? If we're talkin about real life, Italy, no car can come close to comparing with the Bugatti Veyron, and Ferraris are in a league of their own in terms of performance and style, but in the game? The Japanese cars are king, nothing from any other country comes close in terms of speed and handling in my opinion.... and they have the GT-One, my all time favourite Le Mans racer :D
What does the Veyron have to do with Italy? Bugatti is historically French, currently german.

Whiel it may be your favorite LeMans car its not the best example to illustrate why you believe Japanese cars are King. After all the GT-One didn't win at LeMans!

BTW - Its a small thing, but a number of members (myself included) prefer the use of Japanese, rather than an abreviation that can cause offence.

Thanks

The best?Erm...I dono I mean its realy all on ones personal opinion, so there isnt realy a "best".But....mabey some eruopean cars because alot of them have alot of history behing them.

Due to the fact I live in Canada, like my profile says, I'd only vote for Ford, and over seas AKA import cars. They make the best cars, IMO.

#1. Ford = because, well, I like the Mustang in any year, ecspecially the '00 Mustang SVT Cobra

#2. Import Cars = because, again, import cars are more reliable than cars here in North America, and the engine lasts longer ( example - Honda from Jaapan, the body may look like crap over time but teh engine usually runs like new and only needs basic rapirs done to it )

Again, this is my opinion and based on research I've done through car buffs, friends, and family :)

The body can look good if you take care of it. My family and my friends have been having Hondas for over 20 years, and never had a problem with rust or anything. AND it rains here ALOT it has been raing for about the last 2-3 months here.

1, I realise that the basis of this forum is purely different opinions, however, the facts that support these opinions are somewhat misled.
Just because company-A is owned by company-B (e.g. Jaguar by Ford) does not mean that company-A is from the same place as company-B (e.g. Jaguar is not american). It is your heritage which dictates where your from, and not your current position. All it means is that Company-B funds company-A and little else.
2, I do admit though, that most of the IN GAME best cars do indeed come from Japan (even though i find most Japanese cars tastless, corporate, over engineered and above all style-less), but this is mainly because there are far more Japanese cars than there are cars for any of the other countries. If all modern cars for all the countries had been included, then i am certain that Japan wouldn't be the leading country, and Germany would.
3, Although this is a little off topic, if all the cars ever created were to (miraculously) be put onto one edition of Gran Turismo, then i am no doubt that the British would be head and shoulders above the rest.

I have put reason behind every country what makes them good in there way, and probally why they make cars like that.

Yeah we know, and it seems your talking about real life, and not the game. It is in the GT4 section of the forums.

Tasteless? ok ok some Japanese cars look a bit over the top, but i think most Japanese cars are beutiful.
Over engineered? theres such thing? whats wrong very rarely braking down, advance traction control (Skyline R34 GT-R, Evo VIII MR, and most other AWD's) and one of the worlds most reliable engines (V-Tec) i say Japanese cars are nice to be over engineered, and it all means they care that you have a car that is safe, and won't brake down on the highway.

but this is mainly because there are far more Japanese cars than there are cars for any of the other countries.
So? just because there are more Japanese cars doesn't mean there tastless or over engineered.

Ok let's follow your rules, you said that were not backing are opinons up, youneed to back yours. Why is it that Germany is ir that you think Germany is the leading country?

I have to agree with this. Bugatti is still an Italian company, despite being owned by Germans. Jaguar is still British. The fact that TVR is owned by a Russian does not stop them being Blackpool racers.
If you want a different example, I am half Northern Irish. I was born in England and have always lived in England, but this does not stop me being half Northern Irish. Do you see my point?

Yes he was talking about real life, but the cars in GT4 come from real life, therefore they are made by real-life manufacturers, therefore you can't answer the question posed at the start of the thread without referring to real life.

My heart says Italy and wishes for a Ferrari 599 gtb fiorano, my brain says Germany and wants to buy a BMW M3 CSL.

I know which one I'd follow

If I bought an M3 CSL when I could've had a 599, then I would think as I started the car up every morning - why do I have so little passion in exchange for engineering and value? Your brain may want a diesel hatchback, but your heart will always want a Veyron :sly: 👍

Really? Sure, Ettore Bugatti was Italian, but the pre-WWII Bugatti was based in Molsheim, France, and thus was only considered French. In the early 90s, Bugatti was purchased by some Italians and moved to Modena, where the EB110 was created by those Italians, so you could consider the EB110 to be Italian. But not the Veyron, which is built near Molsheim in France, but engineered by germans and under german ownership. At this moment in time, Bugatti is in no way Italian.

Well, seeing how Japan pretty much put every car in the game that came out of that country, it'd better dang well be the best (in PDs eyes).

Though, my vote has to go with the Germans. You have the Mercs, you have the Beemers, you have the Audi's, You have the VW's, etc. All (at least most) of the coolest cars Germany has produced is in the game. Though, if we were talking about RL, the Italians would get my vote.

British- because i come from there and they make the best cars, aka aston martin, tvr
German - power and torque, why wasn't the Cl 65 amg in Gt4? beacuse it would have so much torque after tuning it would rip the disk apart
Japan - power and handling, love 800bhp skylines
Italy - style and phandling, pity ferrari's aren't in GT4, maybe GT5!

Japanese cars are only good in the game if you tune them. In real life it is a similiar story.
WOW a NSX has 225KW cool!!!!!

A standard Ferrari 575M Marinello has 375KW.

fila265,

There's no need for the racially insulting overtones - refrain from using such expressions at GTP again. Racist comments will not be tolerated, so bear this in mind for any future posts you care to make.

And is twice the price.

The lap record holding road car at the Nurburgring has 270kW. So what?

Japan....

i saw a NSX-R beat M3, carrera turbo, and 360 modena in a best motoring video, can't remember which one. but that was crazy NSXR only have 280 and can beat supercars...

oh and the NSX-R almost beat the 2 lamborghinies but the car overheated... so the driver have to pull off....

Yoda, i am sorry that you felt you needed to use bold type to make your point more clear, and i shall explain my opinions further here.
If you look at all the cars that are currently in production, then Germany currently has an answer to almost every automotive need that you could ever think of. If you want a small executive saloon, they have the BMW 3-series (currently best in class). If you want a hatchback, they have the VW Golf (also best in class). If you want a drivers car, they have the Porsche 911 GT3 (yup, best in class). Any set of criteria you could come up with, germany will have the closest car match to it.
I do believe that some Japanese cars are over engineered, because they lack any sort of character, personality, soul, choose which ever word you like but they fail to stand out from the crowd at all. If you take modern family hatchbacks
Vauxhall Astra - distinctive coupe styling and good drivers car,
VW Golf - Fantastic all rounder and effortlessly stylish,
Alfa Romeo 147 - The best looking modern hatchback by a mile
Citroen C4 - again distinctive styling and innovative cabin,
Honda Civic - Oh dear, erm, it comes with nice wheels!?!?
And finaly, if all cars that have ever been created were included in one GT game, GB would be the leading country because it is the most innovative and creative nation, automotivly speaking. We have the Mini, Jaguar E-Type, Aston Martin DB5, Bently Continental (1950's verion) and the ACC Cobra to name but a few. All Style icons in their own right. In motor racing terms, we are also in the lead. Where would formula 1 be without John Cooper's revolutionary mid-engined design in 1959, and Colin Chapmans' revolutionary ground effects cars of the 1970's. Put simply, 80% of the time, it was manerfacturers from GB that made the biggest steps forward in the motor industry, first. That, in my opinion, makes them the best.

The NSX, and the NSX-R, are amazing machines, but Best Motoring races are far from being true, accurate comparisons. Anything can happen in a race. Also, if I remember correctly the NSX-R was being driven by Gan-San, who is, by far, the fastest/best driver on that show.

Yeah, and in a GT game, you don't have to worry about your electrics failing, or the car falling apart, so you'd get all of the passion of the British cars, without the drawbacks... :sly:  ;)

The best country which has car for 300mph = Japan
second = German

And I am aware that the designer for those car are mixed nationality, but those car are put under japan and german icon in GT4 ;).
