The lexus sc300 comes with the 2jzge. (N/A)
The soarer comes with the 1jzgte. (Turbo)
The lexus sc300 is turbo in gt4. So is it a 1jz or what? I know its a game but im just wondering if anyone caught that.

Well, the game is Japanese. They just left it Japan-spec but renamed it the SC300. They probably modeled a Soarer in real life but either didn't realize the SC300 is different in North America or just decided to leave it as it is anyways. I think you'll find that several cars aren't to US spec, even though they carry the US name, the Lexus IS200s for example. There never was an IS200 here, only the IS300. Those in the game are really Altezzas, but it doesn't really explain why they have two versions. One is listed like its North American spec, the other has the (J) designation for Japan-spec. Who knows.

True...i did not think of that. I also dont agree with the lexus, acura and the hpa r32 among others being classified as american cars.

How do you know the HPA is classed with American cars? Is it allowed in the American Hall races or something? I assumed that all of the tuner cars weren't really classified by country.

To the contrary, I think Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti should be listed as American - if the cars are truly sold under that name in that spec.

So you consider lexuses, infinitis and acuras american cars? They are rebadged toyotas, nissans and hondas.

Yeah the SC300 in GT4 is just rebadged Soarer so it has the 1JZGTE, if you look in the specs of the car you will see its the 2.5litre engine.

Just the same as the US 240sx's are rebadged Silvia's so the GT4 240sx's still have the SR20DET engine.

BTW isnt HPA a Canadian tuner?

Thank you for clarifying that, i always wondered if there were any sr20 s14s in the game. Im not sure where HPA is from.

It could also be argued then that the IS200 is a european version.
I'm not sure wether Lexus is sold throughout europe, but where I live, they do.
The new (european) model is the IS250, but maybe that's different around the world as well ?

Didn't Toyota just start selling Lexus cars outside of the usa? As in, the Altezzas featured in GT4 would be too old to be Lexii in Europe?

Anyway, 9D8TSIAWD actually has a point about Lexus/Infiniti/Acura...with the way GT4 is put together, the cars are JDM-spec anyway, or at least, some of them are...

In any case, checking the detailed specs list for engine displacement is the best way to determine a car's real engine. :)

Wel that depends on your definition of just I suppose.
Where I live, The Netherlands, Lexus has been around for a good couple of years (since 1989). They propably have had a different range of models than in the US. Lexus sell (or used to sell) various IS, GS, LS, RX and SC models over here.

As far as I know, the IS200 has never been sold in the Netherlands under the Toyota Altezza brand.

I figured out what I was thinking of...Toyota just recently started selling Lexii in Japan. :)

If thats so, and we already have honda's and nissans and toyota's ingame, then I think that:
1: lexus and infiniti and acura should disappear and vanish into their original founders.
2: they should just be put as american, the rebadge still means it's not Honda anymore for example.

Yes, and so are the GS300 ('00, Vertex, '91). PD goofed up and left the turbo versions of the 3.0-liter inline-6 engines in the NA-names Lexuses. Since Lexus has never sold turbocharged cars in the North American markets, it can be considered an error on PD's part. PD tried to do some "badge engineering", and made a mistake (after all, the engine is in the '97 Supra SZ-R).

So is it a 1jz or what?
The 2JZ-GE would be the correct term (for the real-life car), since it was developed for the SC300 back in 1992, and also powered the GS300 line. The 1JZ-GE has never powered any Lexus car (unless Polyphony wants to make it so...)

PD also made an error by putting Infiniti, Scion, and Lexus in "American cars"...but they put Acura in "Japanese Cars". The afrementioned three aren't permitted to compete in the Japanese Championships (phooey!).

Lexus has been in Europe and most the world for a few years now; America and Canada were ther first two markets. Japan "imported" the Lexus brand in 2005.

Lexii is an unofficial word, for more than one Lexus. This debate as been talked about again and again.

Finally, IS200s were non-US market, but some IS300s were US and other markets. It varies from country to country. the new ones are IS250 and IS350, both available in the US and presumably, everywhere else.

I should be on the clock typing this...

Indeed! And yes its good point you make with the GE being in the sz-r so no reason why they couldnt put it in the lexii. Oh well, i aint complaining, i like having the turbo lexii.

I dont think PD was at fault at all it was quick localisation done by SCEA that renamed the cars, just like SCEE did the PAL versions of the game.

Agreed, it's typical of GT2 and GT3; name swaps were the norm to keep simplicity of programming. After all, there's always been a disclaimer in the game manuals stating that certain cars, models, colors, and specifications are not necessarily available at your local dealer (heck, some dealers don't even exist).

GT1 didn't really bother with badge changes, it only focused on changing Japanese text to English.

But for those of you bent on a real-life simulation of your Lexus SC300/GS300, just buy a race tranny and set it for the Test Course, or just add Normal tires and 200 kilos of weight. :D

Or just stop by your local Lexus dealer for a test drive. Prices and participation my vary. See your dealer for lease rates and financing.

No offense, but I'll pass. Toyota puts too many electronic nannies in their cars. You can hardly drive them anymore. They drive you. :indiff:
