i didnt even know you could GET bigger ones! I mean, I have the memory card expander, but then my old style PS2 died, and I got a slimline, so it doesnt work anymore!

I once used an un-official one, but it somehow managed to corrupt itself rendering it completely unusable as well as delting all my game saves. After that, i always used Sony ones.

Sony themselves only make an 8MB card. If you want bigger, you have to go third-party, and you run the risk of losing data. A lot of people think that "one memory card is as good as another", but that's not the case. Third-party memory cards are notoriously unreliable and prone to catastrophic failure or corruption of the files on it. For every person you see who loves them and swears by them, there's another person who lost all of his game saves on one.

Me, I use only Sony memory cards. In fact, I only use Sony peripherals period. The only non-Sony peripheral I have is my DFP, but that was designed hand-in-hand with Sony, probably the only peripheral that's not only licensed, but endorsed by Sony.

Oh, and I have a MAXDrive. Which recently deleted about half of my game-saves, so I can't give that a glowing review.

I on the otherhand use my maxdrive every now and again and incase of any 'disaster' my data is on my pc and transfer it back and to be honest I haven't had ANY problems with my 64mb memory card. I have had one of my 'other' 8mb 'non-datel' mc's die tho....but I could just be lucky too :D

I have a 32mb MAX Memory and it works perfect. I've had it a year and it's never given me a single problem. I love having 25 game saves with replay saves and still having 18,344kb left over.

Plus it was only like $25 or something.

As far as the MAXDrive goes, the trick is to not use the "Move" feature. You can "Copy" all you like, but when the MAXDrive software tries to delete something from the card, it beefcakes everything that's left on the card (all the stuff you DIDN'T copy over to the USB stick). The proper way to do it is to Copy, then reboot without it and manually delete the gamesaves through the PS2's own browser. Pity Datel didn't bother to tell this to anyone.
