Which PS3 to get?

So what is the PS3 to get? The older 60gb or the newer 80? Can the 80 really play as many old games as the 60gb? I will probably be replacing the hdd anywyas.

Unless you manage to find an older US ps3 with the EE then the 60gig and 80gig are identical hardware wise and you should buy the cheaper model since you intend to replace the hard drive later on anyways.

Not all 60GB PS3s have the PS2 Emotion Engine. 60GB units in Europe do not have Emotion Engine. But, none of that matters. Software emulation is just as good as hardware emulation.

So, just buy the cheapest PS3 you can find. Done.

The Playstation 3 is the best chick magnet a nerd can have in his arsenal. You can load her favorite game (Tekken 5) directly from the XMB. You can also show her that not all games are about killing (Flow) and you will be able to play the best party game ever created (Guitar Hero 3) with her. Finally, when things settle down, you can throw on her favorite movie (The Lake House) on Blu Ray in glorious high definition and cuddle on the couch.

if backwards compatibility is important to you then software emulation is not the best way since only certain tittles will work, if it isn't that important than neither is the EE

60GB PS3 all the way and it plays pretty much everything! (Japanese & US ones...) and also you can always add a bigger one for alot less than paying for an extra 20GB from Sony...
