Which rally car is best for Yosemite Rally I (Hard)?

Take a nismo R32, tune it fully,
Go to the race, don't brake, hit the walls with your rear end, that's the fastest and easyest way

This kind of threads don't belong in the Race Report section, also. It also comes down to personal preference. A fully tuned R32 will only give you trouble trying to handle it. Besides, the Escudo is not even worth the trouble. On GT2 yes. In this game, no.

I will ask a mod to move/lock this.

Yea, this advice kinda sucks, no offense. It's like: DON'T learn to drive properly. Plus there's plenty of areas at Yosemite where you'll wind up in serious trouble, way outside the proper racing line, if you're forcing yourself all the way to the walls. You'll be losing serious time instead of saving it. 👎 It's much more efficient (better lap time) to do it right.

Also, I like a good replay. Why anyone would want to watch a sorry-ass replay of him or herself sliding uncontrollably into walls and stuff is beyond me....:dunce:

Well said Parneli, if you cant win driving properly why bother. Any one can take a much faster car and wall ride and cut turns. But it is so much more fun to win with skill, the clean way.👍

That's the thing...even if somebody wall-rides, won't it severely hurt in the end? Think about the two tight S-turn areas, where the walls are way far away from the actual turn-in area. :dunce: To ride walls here literally means taking yourself way outside, which means dozens of extra seconds added to the lap time. :yuck:

Then there's the bridge area. Same deal. You can slide into the wall here (in theory) but you'd risk losing massive traction, and then you'd have to start accelerating all over again from scratch.

I could go on, but it's getting late. But I'm looking forward to continuing this fascinating discussion tomorrow. Do people really think it's better to drive poorly???

Anyways, on topic. The classic cars for rallying are Evos, Audis, and Stis. Skylines are good, too, but a bit heavy.

You post your time your way, and i post my time the noobway, yes??

I was actually gonna suggest something similar. Do you have video capability? I don't, unfortunately. But if you can take a video, I wanna see exactly how you slam around and stuff. That's the only way to do it completly fair.

My idea was a little different from yours. I was gonna do two runs around Yosemite in the same exact car with the same tuning. One run shall feature sloppy driving. No brakes (as you say) and complete wall slams all the way. Then I'll do a seperate run driving more properly.

^...Goes to tune a rallycar for ECT's debut which is tomorrow.

I actually used the NISMO R34 back in my GT4 noob days to get the Escudo for Bob to drive the entire 24h of Nurburgring in. Hey, it was Gamewinner's idea!

That was a long time ago.

Evo 7 rally car with a couple adjustments to the gearing. I cleaned up almost all the harder rally races in that car.

i got a mobile phone:idea:
but is sold my nismo r32 so i took another car:
and i did choose tahiti becouse it is a great example...

not the best, it has been a long time...
i will never do it again, i hope...:nervous:

I got a mobile phone too, but it only shoots about a minute of video, which aint long enough for a run around the entire Yosemite track. Anyways, I can't see your vid...maybe I gotta look on another computer (I'm at work).

Wow, you really do mean no brakes (until 1:26 or so). I never would have thought of that method dennis, so +rep for creativity and imagination, even though it is (acknowledged) dirty driving. I'm sure a good and clean driver (ie Parnelli) would still smash your lap times but it's a good example of the many and varied ways we can play this game.

I didn't do it for like 2 years, i can do better than that, but i am clean now, and the car suffers from everythingstockexeptturboandintercooler, so...

Wall riding does work on some of the Rally tracks. I don't think Yosemite (either one in both directions) is one of them though. There are too many areas where the track extends well beyond where you would want to turn.

Yosemite really isn't a tough track on any of the difficulty levels. It has a pretty good flow to it. The biggest trick is knowing where and when to brake early.

The areas that come to mind are right at the bridge, and the series of tight turns before the time check point on the left of the map when running in the "normal" direction. In those area the track extends considerably farther than the turn. And I believe that wall riding in these areas will just result in lost time.

Some of the cars I would suggest.

The Rally Evo 8 (i think its 8) you buy at the dealership.
The Ford Escort - This has always been a favorite of mine.
