personally, i like the inside view better than the outside because you can see the turns better and its less distracting..what do you think?

i use both, but usually the third person view. i like to see what my car's doing and what's immediately to the sides. driving a real car, i can turn my head or see a car next to me out of the corner of my eye, or feel the difference between the direction my car is facing and the direction it's going. in a game, you need to pull the camera back to see the same thing.

but i do use the inside view sometimes, like when the camera swings wide and cuts off my view through ad boards (damn Tahiti Maze hairpins) or on straightaways in a tall car (Vitz and Beetle in particular)

Same here.

I also use the in-car view on Special Stage Route 11 or Seattle, as the walls are too close together and i find it easier to get better lap times with 1st person view. :)
I also sometimes use 1st person view when doing two-player races.

But i prefer the behind-the-car view.

When i won a car or bought a car
i like to use the third person cuz i like to check out my car
but after that i just use the first person view cuz u can cut into corners better + i got use to it. :cheeburga

i wouldn't say it gives you "superior control". As you get the exact same amount of control whether your inside or out, you just don't realize it. It is definetly "easier" and more readily noticable, but again, you don't get more precision or anything of the sort. If wut you said were indeed true, then polyphony would have had to code 2 different control schemes, one for 3rd and one for 1st person. That just doesn't make any sense :p

i use the outside for racing cus it looks better.. then i use the iside for tests so u can see clearly or if im driving in the Yaris cup/new beetle cup etc.. :turtle:

I always used to use the outside view, because I found it helped with learning the tracks.

Now I know all the tracks, I use the inide view exclusively, because you just feel so much more connected to the car, and it's much better for hearing the tyres protesting on the wear races.

How in the hell does the inside view give you more accuracy or better control? Its the same either way even though I use the outside the most.

Hello...

I'm only drive with the inside-Cam !
Thats moore realistic and the car is better to control .

Best wishes
Werner

Is that in your house Werner??

ps. oh yeah, i like the outside view, i would have liked to have seen more different veiws in the game like from behind the wheel , it would be that bit more realistic

Awesome little raceseat you got there ,werner

I use inside view only, it gives my a better view on the road ahead ( DUH!!! :D ) and i can cut the corner better that way

I drive on the inside, but on the main straight I may pop it into 3rd perdon view to still gawk at the games graphics

I use the inside view exclusively. I get a better feel for the car's reaction during turns. I can feel if the car is starting to oversteer, that way I can compensate much sooner than from outside the car. I have always had a problem driving from behind the car in third person view. I can also tell if I will make a corner without driving in the grass, because I can tell the way the car is acting. I can't tell much at all from behind it, it takes up a lot of the screen. It isn't a problem if I have someone beside me, I can hear and feel them anyway. :burnout:

Does anyone use 3 or four PS2's linked togather withe 3 or 4 TV's? To give two side windows and a rear window? Or has anyone got an Olympus Eyetrek, and if so are they any good?

I only use inside... as a matter of fact I pity the fool who drives outside!!! Because the outside camera recovers way too slow when cornering.

That's just my 2 cents ;)

When I get a new car, I might use the outside wiew for a bit, while tweaking it, to check out the car.

But if I have to race, or set lap times, I use inside wiew.

Interesting.

I use the in car view - more relaistic as I'm used to driving.

My boys prefer to use the exterior view - they don't drive, but they play more games. Anything in this as reasoning?

It's more accurate because you don't have a car blocking a large portion of the road :D

Ya... I'm an inside view guy - I agree with captainkirk (btw - if you asked me a week ago if I ever pictured myself saying "I agree with Captain Kirk", I'd have thought you were nuts)

When the car starts to plow or oversteer, I feel like I can catch it much quicker than the outside view.

It also goes back to playing GT1 and GT2 - the outside the view was just slower (or perhaps I was?). I think there was a frame rate hit on the 3rd person (outside) view.
