That's just my 2 cents ;)

Well i use outside view , i like to see the car not just a piece of road , i find the camera's fine while cornering :)

I pretty much use 3rd person viewing, and on the occasion that I have used "bumper cam" view, it has been tough to 'feel' the back end of the car slide out.

I also got the feeling that the car was able to cut much closer to walls when in "bumper cam". A few turns in SS11 led me to believe that PD modeled the views slightly different. Almost like the car width was set too slim on "bumper cam".

I used to run bumper cam view on my old 36" TV when sitting on the floor. Found myself leaning into corners, and flinching when slamming into walls. Also fighting for position was hectic at the start. Maybe I had the sub woofer too loud...

I use the inside view. I used to use the outside view for GT1 and GT2, but when I started out my game on GT3 with a PT Cruiser, I couldn't see over the car and had to use the inside view. Now I find that I have a lot more precision with the inside view than with the outside view. For me it seems like whenever I switch to the outside view for a turn, the car oversteers for no particular reason. And for me, using the inside view gives me a better sense of speed and I can see exactly where the needle on the tach is more distinctly, which helps in shifting. But I do switch to the outside view when going down straights so I can see the car and hold down the rear-view button just so I can see the front of the car :D

I prefer.. uhm.. both :D

When I REALLY have to race (i.e. get the Impreza LM to STAY in front of the R390) then I break down and use inside view. Allows you to clearly see all apices of the turns. Purely a reactional thing, but my braking is later yet spot on, and I corner smoother with greater exit speed. But if I'm just chillin in say... Polyphony Cup, I use outside view and look at my nice ride :)

What's this "bumper cam" you're going on about? I've seen the 1st person view, and the 3rd person view....I dunno what you're talking about with this bumper cam thingy though...

Personally, I prefer the 1st person view. I seem to have a harder time controlling the car properly w/ the 3rd person view, though I couldn't tell you why. It just doesn't feel natural...

As to Sandman's comment about his boys preferring the 3rd person, I think the fact that they don't yet drive is the very reason they use 3rd person. Riding in a car is very different from driving the car. For those of us who drive, when you think of driving the 1st person view is just naturally what comes to mind immediately.
They, on the other hand, are much more used to game-style interface--which allows for a floating-camera-type view. That's no doubt much more natural to them than the in-car view is, at this point.
