I think I am going to try one those "Black and Tan" drinks this weekend. Not sure what it is but I have heard other Guinness drinkers talk about it too. Sounds good. I just refuse to drink and drive so if I do have one I will want to wait at least 2 hours before I drive anywhere.
I am taking Heather out for her B-day on friday so it will be a perfect opportunity to try one before we eat.

Full on Guinness is my tipple too! Or at least it was until the doc told me to cut-down on the amount of that loverly beverage.

Now I drink Black & Tan!

The half of Guinness first, then the half pint of a good bitter! Used to be a barman too so I know how to serve it.

Still tastes Guinness, but is lighter for the summer weather. And it keeps the Doc happy 👍

I have a nice story about a pint of Guinness I got once... A few friends and myself went to a bar in Edinburgh and ordered a pint each. I got the Guinness but everyone else got lager. Unfortunately, mine tasted strongly of detergent, so obviously I took it back. The barman had a quick taste, and apologised. He rinsed out the pipes to the Guinness tap and served me another pint... but, I could still taste the detergent. So, apologising again, he rinsed the pipes several more times (my mates have all but finished their pints of lager by now...) After a few minutes, the barman pours me another pint, and even lets it settle before topping it off (like all good pints of Guinness). Unfortunately, before he gave it to me, he decided to have a wee taste himself - the only problem was, he had a big bushy moustache, and left a rather disgusting imprint of his tash in the head of my pint. Totally oblivious to this fact, he handed it over to me saying, "There ye are, it's fine now...."
 great story. 👍

One thing Guinness is good for is plenty of stories :sly: :scared:

I used to like a 'Black and Tan', but I'd think twice about asking for one in Ireland, since the term 'Black and Tan' has negative connotations, although I don't think it's a big deal any more... (check this out.... link) In Scotland, you can make one with a light ale called Belhaven Best, which is < 4% alcohol and is extremely smooth and a very good pint in its own right...

I personally prefer a 'Black and Black'... ;)

I think I prefer Black Valvet above Guiness, been to an Irish pub and ****! That beer was tasty, they put in a kg sugar per glass or what?!

I was wondering if I'm the only one: when I breathe at the same time I start drinking / sipping (not while swallowing, obviously :p) a Guiness, if there is enough head I will almost instantly get a small buzz. This is the only beer that ever had that effect on me, It's quite weird since I have a pretty high tolerance for alcohol usually, and Guiness isn't a strong beer.

there is a sandwich in every pint of guinness

He has a point, sandwhiches are bread, bread contains yeast, so does Guiness, so you could say there is a sandwwich in every pint ;)

Perfect. I can replace the bread part of my diet with a Guinness. :sly: 👍 Sounds good to me.

Unhealthy. Come on I drink it all the time and theres nothing wrong with me. *twitch* *twitch* *TIMMY!!!*

Hey, studies show that a daily drink of alcohol can significantly reduce chances of heart disease. And beer has lots of nutrients, and is very healthy in moderation.

To paraphrase Ben Franklin - Guiness is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. When we're out I'm usually driving so I limit myself to 1 or 2 drinks. Guiness is one of my top picks, especially if it's on draft.

Killian's Irish Red is good to. If you're in England you also HAVE to try Theakston's Old Peculier.

Pictures of something special tomorrow !.....

It involves Chocolate.....

Speaking of which, my wife got me this. I'm hoping it tastes like an alcoholised version of Ovaltine.

I did a stag weekend in Dublin a few years ago. The only meals we had were breakfast. That and the 40 pints of Guinness we had over the weekend had us sorted.

For all you British drinkers, Guinness is no longer brewed in the UK. Yep, it's all Irish now.

I've never tried Guinness and I don't think I know any pubs in Auckland that would serve it on tap, I'm sure I could find an English/Irish pub that would serve it.

Tap beer is so much better then bottled, it goes down so much easier.
