You sure thats a problem with the FW and not just your router? I had a problem with getting signed out every 2 - 3 minutes AGES ago (as in last year) and it ended up being uTorrent running on my PC conflicting with the PS3 (probably trying to use the same ports). Disabling it fixed my problem, that was after about 2 months of trying every single configuration I could change on my router.
Like I said above, me, my mates, and people on other forums are not experiencing issues. So that kind of indicates the problem is at your end. Otherwise everyone would have problems if it was the PSN at fault.
smokey2khehe bet the sony boys would laugh when they opened the box and saw a ps3 with a brick in the top
My router worked fine with the console before the update... this is why I dont understand, I only have 1 wire wired connection so it can't be anything to do with my PC because its not connected to the net when im on the PS3. Ive turned the modem off and back on, checked its settings and it all seems fine. Could it be that the firmware reset some connection settings the PS3?

1. Firmware's basically a middle man enabling the software (game) to access the CPU and the GPU. Dvd drive and HDD got their own controllers built in, (Can somebody confirm if there's a onboard memory controller bulit in or is it all software emulated)
2. Prehaps the absence of the emotion chip (ps2 cpu) is causing the 2.4v firmware to behave in unexpected manner.
It's just as soon as I've updated the firmware its gone like this. It maybe just coincidence, but I've never had any kind of a major problem before hand (apart from bluetooth dropping out twice)
Every single system update I have ever installed does this. By the time it reached the 50-60% done it then zips to the end. If you go through this thread and search the Main PS3 thread, you'll find many posts from others saying the exact same thing happens to them when they download a system software udate. There is nothing unusual about that at all.To be fair, I dont really think the problem is with the FW, but with the PSN, because those that reported problems are the people who's download reached half way, then instantly shot to the end.
FW 2.41 will be out sometime this week.
Will this fix peoples problems, or just ensure that those that have not downloaded it yet dont get any problems?
My euro 60GB is still working great and when I downloaded 2.40 it took about half an hour to get 60% then it shot to 100% in seconds. Could a few people affected have a tiny electric power drop or something or maybe a corrupt wifi download.
The strange thing is why only a few appear to have been effected by this?
Individuals with a bricked system are almost always the victims of packet loss. It will only take a few bytes of information loss to cause irreparable damage.
