Who here doesn't like the camera angles in GT4 and GT5??

I defo agree, i can't stand the GT5 chase cam at the moment, and having 800 cars where im going to be using the chase cam (since i don't really like the other views apart from cockpit) is going to be a real pain, i hope they give us the option to adjust this....

This is a huge hit and miss for me, I hate the roof view its horrid, incar works well in many cars but fails in some, then there is Bumper view, its an absolute joy, its a perfect height not to low not to high, dials don't block to much view but are easy to read.
I normally use bonnet view or incar in other games but GT5 uses a roof instead of bonnet view and some cars are not drivable incar.
So its incar and bumper for me.

Cockpit view is my #1 view. So regarding the chase cam, I agree the stiffness of it makes it feel if you are driving on rails. I would much rather have a loose camera where you could see the side of the car more as you turn. As far as the 'hood' view, I would much rather have a view as if someone put a camera up against the windshield and you could see the hood from a driving perspective. The one we have now is like you are sitting on the roof of the car and only shows a small portion of the hood.

Number 1: Cockpit view. Number 2: Bonnet view. But GT4/5 does't have that view. Maybe the "roof cam" is my number 3. But in GT5P the wind is ver annoying in that view. The wind kills the car sounds. also whit some cars it feels like you sit on the car instead of driving the car.

I hate the locked chase view. Normally, I play in cockpit, but sometimes I like to see the car and the track...but when it cames a slow corner (when I'm in chase view), like the turn 1 in Fuji and I see my car so locked, I choose again cockpit. It's a big turned off...

An option to turn on/off would br great. But, honestly, I don't think is going to happen'...and because of this, and only this, Gran Turismo 5 will not be perfect. :grumpy:

The roof/hood camera hybrid to be useful in any way, I think should be placed at the pilot's eye level. Right now it seems rather inconsistent from what I've seen in videos of various public demos. Sometimes it appears to be on the roof of the car, other times on the hood.

This view if correctly set up should be the default choice as a substitute for the cockpit view in standard cars or for those who don't want most of their screen used by the cockpit but still, at the same time, want a realistic point of view.

They do have some weird camera views. Roof cam? Bumper cam that is actually a cockpit cam without seeing the interior? Fixed chase cam?

Why not also add a hood cam, a bumper cam that is actually located at the level of the bumper, and a non fixed chase cam? You know, like almost every other racegame has. That way everyone is pleased. 👍

I find it always strange and annoying when developers force you to play a certain way by not adding enough options.

You can use the "bumper cam", it's the cockpit cam (although in the center of the car) without the interior. And about the position of the roof cam, that probably has to do with the different heights of the cars. On some cars it appears as if you are car surfing. On other low cars it's almost like a hood cam.

GT3 had the best views, in my opinion.I'm not keen on the roof cam, that to me is best for when others are seeing you race.

I'm going to switch cameras alot now I think about it. I prefer the cockpit cam, but standard cars won't have this. So I will use the roof cam with the standard cars, unless it's not positioned low enough. And I know that this will be the case on alot of cars, so then I will have to switch to the "bumper cam". And of course, back to cockpit cam with a premium car. Talk about variation. :)

personally i've never had a problem with the old chase camera on gt4. Big fan of the cockpit view myself but on gt4 i usually used the chase cam.

Wow, I actually wasn't bothered by the chase cams in GT4 and GT5P at all until people starting mentioning how stiff it was. I have to agree now. I hope it's fixed in the final game.

Why the thumbs down?

Judging by your latest post you also agree the chase cam is too stiff, that is what i was agreeing with.

Sorry, man! You right, but I mis understood what you wrote. As you may know now, my english is not very good xD reading or posting, I have some problems yet...

Sorry again for the thumb down!

That Subaru vid is a really old build though, I wouldn't be basing any thoughts on that. Look at this year's Gamescom instead....

I know, it is a old video from an old build, but they have added a non fixed chase cam at some point, and then changed it to a fixed cam. Makes me wonder why they wont just add both chase cameras. Why o why, I will never understand some decisions. Why not make everyone happy, instead of only one part?

Kaz if you are reading the post of above this, add it to the game please ^^^^^

anyway the Fixed view makes no one happyyy :dopey:

I only use the chase cam when I am flying my Spitfire in IL 2 Sturmovik:lol:

I also use it when viedotaping an online race to show as many cars as possible, and help get through that first corner maelstrom :)

I always hated GT4's chase cam. It made the physics appear unrealistic, like the car was on rails. I think GT3's was best.

The car loses personality to me with the locked camera.

That GT4 view is only available in replays (And I hate that view too). The chase cam in-game is the lower down view that you see him flick past at the start of the video.

As someone who uses the chase cam in GT4, I would not be happy if it changed to the non-static view, simply because it effects your judgement of the cars trajectory through the corner, so it would take some getting used to. Hopefully they will include both (Set camera static/moveable in the options menu maybe?). They already have both views as can be seen from the various demos we have seen.

The one used in the Time Trial demo is the latest i've used, and I thought that was perfectly fine.

For me, the saving grace for not having interior views for standard cars would be a proper hood cam. The hood cam in GT5 is way too high and looks down on the hood or is actually a roof cam. Even Grand Theft Auto IV had a better hood cam than GT5.

If PD got the hood cam right, then GT5 would be 99% perfect for me.
