Ok, my question is: Who actually uses the 3D features and/or who cares?

I'm wondering how many time they put into the 3D thing (I think I read somewhere that is was at least 2 years) opposed to how many players actually have/use the 3D setup...

IMO this is the most important feature they should have pushed back to GT6 because the installed base and quality of 3d setups will improve over the next years. The time spent on 3D could have also been spent on more premium cars and/or better online features (for me the online portion will make or break this game in the long run)

Have a look In the GT5 3D thread to see people's opinions.👍

i dont have a 3d tv but have tried it a couple of times.. it was a big let down i thought.. its defiantly worth trying once (if possible) but i got a bad headache from 2 races and i rarely get headaches the loss in quality was aslo very significant

Sorry didn't know about that, do you have a link to that thread please?

When I created the thread I already thought there would already be something similar... although I did try to use the search feature on this forum by entering the simple query '3D' and it said 'no matching results'.... and still doesn't after searching again

I'm sorry but no I don't I can't find It either, Yet I was reading It the other day.

On topic though.
I have watched 3D TV and think It's great, I'd love to play GT5 3D I think the aspect of distances would be amazing.
So when they drop In price as all new fads do I'll be treating myself.

Sorry I didn't mean to be rude. (public apology)
there's just so many repeated threads on here.

I have a 3D TV, I tried GT5 on it 2 times and I threw up both times. apparently a 3D car game is not for me

I can't stand 3D, and hope it goes away soon. I never liked 3D movies, as they just give me a headache. Can't stand having to wear glasses to watch tv or play a game either. No thanks.

I am playing the game on a 73 inch Mitsubishi 3D television with a steering wheel and pedals, and I can testify that it is awesome! The sense of speed and movement is just, well, I think you have to experience it. I don't think you can really describe the feeling to someone, they have to experience it for themselves. The 3D DOES require a bit of tweaking in the settings to get it perfect, at least it did for my tastes, but wow, just wow!

I never considered your comment to be rude... in fact I'm glad you tried to point me in the right direction. Maybe one of the mods could tell us how to use the search feature properly (or fix it if it's not working ok)

Anyway, so far it seems most people don't really care about it or literally get sick from it, and some swear by it (I would love to see 3d in action on that 73inch beast though).

Still I think they should have waited until 3D displays are common goods in most living rooms, at least until the displays don't require some special glasses anymore.

I tried it out once, it seemed really cool, and the feeling of depth of perception was really interesting (especially in Premium cars, looking at the interior and outside the windshield), making the game feel more immersive and realistic... but it seemed like it was harder to see the road, as it felt like I had sunglasses on... and eventually I became disoriented and it was difficult to focus... it's a nice novelty, but it's not necessary, neither do I think it will last.

Watching stuff in 3D makes me feel incredibly nauseous. I'd love the full 3D gaming experience, but I'd probably vomit right through it...

Wow I'm amazed by the negative comments! I play in 3D ALL THE TIME. For hours without stopping and I don't have any problems. I like it so much I can't imagine playing it in 2D anymore.

Maybe it depends on what TV is used. I've tried several different brands in stores and for me the only one that didn't give me nausea or discomfort is the one I ended up buying: The Panasonic VT25 (plasma).

I have parallax maxed out and the cross eye thing set to 0.8.

The 3D helps tremendously in estimating distances, overtaking etc.

I'm a fan!!!

yes 3D is awesome! (with a good TV) i can't play in 2D now

my 3D setting for a true orthostereoscopic experience (and full depth)

Cockpit view with "narrower" mode
Convergence: 0.9
Parallax: (size screen dependant)
65" = 6 or 7 (6 if you have a low interocular distance like 6.5cm or less, 7 if your interocular is near 7cm)
60" = 7
55" = 7 or 8 (7 if you have a low interocular like 6.5cm or less, 8 if your interocular is near 7cm)
50" = 8 or 9 (8 if you have a low interocular like 6.5cm or less, 9 if your interocular is near 7cm)
46" = 9
42/40/37" = 10

and if possible play at a distance x1 diagonal of the screen for right FOV
it's agressive but very realist (and unforgettable) experience. i played lot of hours without problem
need a good TV with few ghosting (for me VT20 with contrast 30 and brightness 20 for hide ghosting)
this will be better if we would can OFF the HUD (depth conflict with some element of the dashboard when convergence is 0.9) but not possible currently

I agree that completely turning off the HUD would make this experience even better.

Also something I forgot to mention: In 3D there is absolutely ZERO visible frame tearing. It's quite apparent in certain tracks when playing in 2D but in 3D there's absolutely nothing visible.

I'm sure it actually does have tearing but it will always be for only one eye (highly unlikely that the exact same tear occurs in 2 frames) so you won't be able to actually see the tearing. I find this too a huge advantage of playing in 3D.

Now my daughter just got a PS Eye with EyePet for her birthday so guess what I'm gonna try do with that tonight :D 3D AND head tracking! I don't think GT can get any better than that!

the tearing is less visible but cause nasty desynchro between left and right mostly visible in curve

I guess I'm lucky then with my brain being able to 'tune it out'. I see absolutely no visible artifacts when running in 3D. And like I said before, the type of TV used makes a huge difference too in 3D (anything, not just this game). I found most TV's to suck (ghosting, nausea etc.)

i played 5 hours in 3D with very agressive parallax at 50" of my 50" TV. any problem! i'm less irritate than for 5 hours of 2D (maybe because in 3D the brightness is low)

I'm interested in hearing if there's any Panasonic VT20/VT25 owner who does NOT like the 3D mode.

I Play in a Sony 55" HX800 3DTV and is not cool. It might be the fact that I cannot focus correctly from my left eye and the 3D TV stress the crap out of my right eye (some how I still have 20/20). All I now is that after an 1 hr to 1.5 hrs I am done with the game for the next 10 hrs. If I play in 2D I can go for about five hours without problem.

VT20 is very good but disappointed that don't work as well in 120hz (games) than in 96hz (BD movies)

when you watch a 24hz source like BD3D you can switch the VT20 in 96hz 3D mode ("24p film" mode) and in this mode the crosstalk is awesome, almost ghost free
but for games it's inevitably 120hz mode and in this mode the crosstalk is noticeably higher (because phosphors persistence) even if it's better that others TV
i would liked to have the same crosstalk in 120hz as in 96hz for perfect experience :)

I have a 50" Samsung plasma and don't use 3D as it isn't as sharp as 2D. I probably need to play with the TV and GT5 setting a bit though.

It was pretty realistic, however i would not race with it on since it makes my eyes wear out twice as fast. Its fun to play around with it just to watch replays or photomode though...

Has anyone discovered a way to enable/disable 3D without going all the way back to the starting screen yet?

I see very little crosstalk while racing. Funny thing however is when getting a new car delivered or in the Photomode locations I see way more crosstalk than in races. Anyone else having the same experience?
