Subaru is not owned by Ford - GM have a 20% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru's parent company.

Panoz isn't owned Ford, they simply use Ford's engines. It's owned by Don Panoz.

Not sure if Hyundai are partners with Kia - I was under the impression they were bitter rivals. GM either have or are negotiating to buy Kia (or controlling stake therein).

Subaru is GM man...

And isn't Saleen owned by Jim Saleen(I think that was his first name)? Cause the S7 is theirs, not Fords...

yea, I got it, you have a Z24, but still as a whole I think GM has some crappy cars...

vat's right. Check the other auto ownership thread. GM owns part of Fujitsu Heavy Ind, of which Suburu is a part.

Also, Chrysler's isn't so much a partner of Mercedes. It's closer to a subsidiary if anything. Chrysler's parent company is DaimerChrysler. And if you look at the company's structure, the pre-merger Daimler-Benz people are well in control.

Oh, and let's not forget Renault owns a big chunk of Nissan.

Hyundai and Kia are partners (Optima = Sonata, and a few others including a co-developed concept minivan that....never came to America). GM is negotiaiting to buy Daewoo, and I'm very sure that it has already completed that deal.

Ah - having done some research - Australia is a model behind on the Optima - the version we have here is based on the previous 626....

Yeah - the previous one.

Proton, the Malaysian manufacturer, have their small model, the Satria, which is just a rebadged Lancer from the early 90's.

Musso is pretty ancient.
Daewoo in the US are planning to release the Korando, but with legal disputes with Daimler-Chrysler and losing a lot of money (planning to cut off distribution in US), it will not come out as planned.

Actually M5 that U100 is called Rezzo in Europe and Korea. and it a "sport-wagon" not a minivan. A sportwagon? Doesn't look sporty to me.......what the heck!

Audi isn't 0wn3d by Volkswagen. They're both in fact 0wn3d by VAG.. Volkswagen Audi Group ;)

One point that occurs to me:

Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti, I wouldn't say, are owned by their parent companies. I'm not exactly sure on this, but I believe that they are simply divisions of the parent companies, and not sepereate entities, as they were always a part of those parent companies, unlike some other companies which were once independent and were bought by larger manufacturers.

From a business standpoint, are they officially seperate entities? For example, can you buy stock in Acura motor corp? Or would it be, as I'm guessing, part of a share in Honda Motor Corp?
