To anwser your question :
1/ I used a controller
2/ You suck :p

Just kidding
I remember trying couple times before getting gold. You just have to know the track and understand the way the cars react.
It was on this event I started to use the roof camera view. Made a huge difference.

The C4 WRC is a great car !

And it has the numbers "78" on it's license plate. Which means that it's registered in Yvelines, near Paris, where I live! :P

Yet, I found the first ones easy but couldn't pass the later ones...I guess it's all about trial and error. :)

its most likely which aids you have on and off... i only use ski recovery force and abs on 1. everything else is off. Got all golds... easily

I went to my alternate account and tried the Loeb Rally Challenge again just for kicks.

Toscana: Win by 9 seconds with a few major mistakes.
Eiger: Passed ghost at the top of the steep hill at the hairpin. Won by 15 seconds.
Chamonix: Won by 8 seconds (Which tied Leob's time AFAIK) with a lot of major mistakes.

Wheel: DFGT
Aids: All off, except ABS = 1
RA menu adjustments: Torque Split on dirt: 60% rear, Torque Split on Snow: 55% Rear

It's all about knowing how the car will react to the inputs you give it and trusting it to do what you want. On the second go round, this challenge is probably one of the easier ones.

Set Driving Line at ON can also be a big help at these Rally tracks because you're never really going to know them..

This will be a hindrance.
The Driving line is supposed to be a suggestion, but it is a VERY bad suggestion for these three tracks. The turn in points and track out points are very slow, the apexes are sometimes off, and it just in general is a nuisance to try and drive with it.

If you learn the cars behavior, almost any line you can find will destroy the suggestion made by the driving line.

I originally had a lot of problems with the Chamonix event. I managed bronze but even that took a lot of work. I went back and tried with skid recovery and had no problems and even passed the ghost. Based on this thread, I tried the event on my GTP account with skid recovery force off and changed to a 50/50 force distribution. Got gold relatively easily on all three events even with significant mistakes.

Tuscana time trial in the grand tour event was giving me problems so I went back and tried that too. Again quickly got gold with the 50/50 distribution and you can't use skid recovery on that one.

So thanks for the tips guys. It really helped me.

loeb challenge was easy for me...

only eiger nordwand was bit hard... 5 tries or so (crashed all time near the start/finish line):ouch:

You guys are geniuses, but there is a little misinformation going around. First, the good news is that I changed my setting on this challenge to ABS-1, SRF-On and all other aids off. I had already gotten gold on Toscana, but Eiger and Charmonix were tougher for me. Using these aids, and some advice regarding practice and figuring out how these cars work, I got gold last night on Eiger and Charmonix. The trick is to figure out how much you can push the car, particularly on the downhill straights and turns, without losing control. Also, I used the driving line, but I had to figure out when to ignore it. Second, the bad news is that you cannot adjust the torque on this car DURING THIS CHALLENGE. You can otherwise adjust the torque on the car during another challenge or race.

This challenge is not easy, but I found the challenge to be rewarding. My only criticism of this challenge is that they should make Bronze easy to get for those of us that are not very good at videogames. That is usually the case with license tests. The Bronze comes easy, and then you really have to work at it to get Silver and Gold.

Overall, I appreciate the words of wisdom from you guys and the masterpiece that is Gran Turismo 5. I cannot get enough of this game.

Maybe its just me but on the loeb challenges, I did not see where I could adjust the torque differential.

If you are using a DS3 you'll need to go into options and map them to whichever buttons suit you best - they are the ones that say RA+ or RA- and most importantly, RA Menu.

As I don't have a wheel you'll need to rely on someone else for any explanations concerning how that can be done.

Once these are mapped you can go into that menu during a race and alter certain things - torque split amongst them - by scrolling up or down to them (RA+ or RA-). This is usually pretty difficult to do whilst racing, so get the car set up how you want and then restart; the options will stay the same way you tuned them throughout the event.

I never knew that - I'm going to have to try that tonight. Thanks for the advise! So I need to map buttons to the RA Menu, RA+ and RA-? So three buttons in all?

hey first post on this site, thought id put out some tips :)

to do this i used a DS3. best advice is turn off traction control. if you have it on the system just tries to top the car sliding (which is what makes rallying fun :D ) then just ABS set to 1 to stop you hitting walls and ASM or SRF as you see fit. also take a brave pill and bomb it down the main hill on Eiger, it is a bit scary!

Thanks for the tip on the RA menu everyone!! I was having a hell of a time until I read this thread and found out that you can change the diff settings in car!! Easy gold after that...maybe now I can try with SRF off as it should be ;) But for now, I have the C4 WRC car I needed by tomorrow...

And yes, traction control SUCKS on any loose surface. The damned wheels will not break lose.

No prob.

Yeah, three is the minimum but four is optimal. Sorry if I didn't use the exact terminology but when you go into the controller options, you'll see them. These help with the license events too, as the brake balance can be adjusted in there too...with some cars, you'll need it.

This is very true. I was surprised at how hairy it is to go down those hills at high speeds. I am playing on a Fanatec GT2 wheel and the force feedback coming from that, coupled with the sound and visuals makes for a scary experience. You know you need to go fast, yet if you go too fast and spin out of control, you will lose the race.

Skid Recovery is a life-saver.

I normally suck at rally (especially with the DS3), but with SRF on you can easily gold it.

I thought this was the most difficult "Special" event thus far. I'm using the DS3 with all aids off (ABS=1) and it took me about 90 minutes to beat the gravel and dirt tracks. I had no idea that you could vary the torque split for this car so for those tracks I was using the default setting of 30:70.

The Snow course was nigh impossible for me. I spent 2 hours on it and the best I could do was still 5 seconds off the gold time. I needed to do the C4 bonus race 3 last night b/c I'm busy later today so I switched SFR to "on" and immediately golded the snow event, winning by 8 seconds.

I'm curious how much easier this event would be with the torque set to 50:50 and SFR turned back off. I'll have to take a look when I'm bored with other things in GT5.

Thanks for the tip fellas!👍

I agree with the 60/55 rear torque splits helping, also i found that short shifting to match peak torque really helped maintain traction helped a lot on the snow stage.

After numerous attempts and different setups this allowed me to get gold in all events last night, Props to all the posters on here where I gathered my info and ideas...

DFGT WHEEL, set on "7"

Driving Line - OFF
Traction Control - OFF
Skid Recovery - ON
AS - MILD
ASM - OFF
ABS 1
4WD set at 50/50

Right wrong or indifferent this was my chicken dinner, I believe setting the 4WD at 50/50 probably made the biggest difference though...

Correct me if I am wrong, but is not 50/50 torcqe splitt what they use in WRC? Atleast IRC use that from what I heard from Mads Østberg(norwegian rally driver) he even said they use 50/50 brake balance! :scared:

Not tried to change the torcqe split yet, but will defently try it for fun when my ps3 is back from repair :)

It's easy without ASR. I posted a video before without ASR. Was 6 seconds faster than the time needed for gold. Again, it's easy.

Does it indicate in the HUD what settings are off? If not, how do we know?

No offence, but it's easy to say "I did it first try" or "I didn't use any assists" on the internet... You have to presume everyone is a sceptic, and show the driving options before the start of the race, so people can see. This won't tell us which try it was, but it will show us what settings you're actually using.

Did you watch the end of the video?

Just make sure to late-brake in corners. Matters a lot on gravel/snow, since you get a lot more traction when the weight has shifted in the front.

yep... very easy!
the rally challenges in gt5 were a breeze.
all you have to do is take off all driving assists except abs 1.
with the driving assists on it is more difficult.
i DID have a heck of a time passing the mountaing climbing stage... but once i learned that you take it slow (slow is fast) it was easy.

I got gold on the snow and that Italian track without much problem. Chamonix is a bit of a bear though. I'll have to try changing the LSD to add more power to the front wheels - I didn't realize you could do that. It made a huge difference in the Gran Turismo rally challenges.

I found it really hard to gold the whole thing but the only way i got it was just practise, learning the stage and the way the car reacted. When i did gold them all i literally jumped off the bed :D

I had a similar reaction when I golded the events. The key for me was to figure out how far I could push the car before it would go out of control, particularly on the downhill runs.

I was having similar trouble until I changed the 4WD to 50:50 split - then all the rally events became a breeze. This is the easiest way to do it I reckon.
