I do.
Welcome to GTPlanet!!! Enjoi ur stay!!! :)

Try using the search function in the top right corner of the screen next time u want to know something that is out there. You'll find tons of stuff through searching. I posted this question a long time ago as well.

Yeah i use Dual Shock 2

I was tempted to get the Logitech Wheel but its too expensive.. like $199 Australian

Is that the best Wheel to buy? Are there any other good ones at cheaper price?

I do, I have the gt force wheel, but haven't taken the time to learn how to use it yet.

Me.

I used to own the Driving Force steering wheel but I sold it. In my opinion it is the worst designed steering perhiphrials for any game system. First of all, it is USB but can't be used on a computer for some reason, even though it was based on one of Logitech's computer steering wheels.

It has a clamping design for a reason. They just threw that chunk in there to give it something to clamp to. If you have a small TV on a really low desk then I would imagine it would be fairly decent, but that is kind of an unlikely situation. Otherwise, it is hard to get in a comfortable. It is just too clunky and difficult to keep organized.

The pressure sensitive d-pad works great for precise racing and I found the analog stick combined with the pressure sensitive accelerator and brake buttons.

If I were you, I would stick with the DualShock 2 for the sake of mastering the controller itself as to be able to apply that mastery to other games as well.

I used to. Got the Logitech Wheel, took like a week to learn it, wont drift without it. They just come out soooo smooth, I'd highly suggest looking into it if you have money.

i use a PS1 interact controller...but right now im attempting to switch over to the wheel. i've got a bit of a simulator setup..with the passenger seat from my RX-7 in front of my PS2 har har...:p

me
I have a borrowed Logitech Driving Force, but i never liked how it only did 75% braking and couldn't shift while turning.

me

Then again my GT3 doesnt work so I dont drift w/anything because I cant...Anyone want to donate a spare gt3 disc they have lyin around somewhere? lol :D

i use a DS2

I am starting to loose interest though, cos i totally suck :(

I've been trying to do this drifting thing for the past month and totally suck, although ill admit that i can do a few turns here and there much better than i used to do it a month ago.

I either....spin out, loose the drift, hit a wall, enter too early cos i try to feint drift every single turn lol.

All this time, i've been using a DS2, i see that some of the vids dont' even counter steer or they press hard on the gas, when i do this with my AE86 SS (Perg's settings) i just spin out. Btw, using auto.

yeh, i use the dual shock too
i use the analog stick to steer instead of the d-pad(or whatever its called)
i also use it for my throttle control as well as brakes
left analog stick=steering
right analog stick =throttle and brakes

does anyody else use the controller this way or is it just me?

:) :) :)

that sounds hard.. i just use the analog stick to steer

I use the left analog stick to steer and the up on the right analog stick to accelerate. Down on the right analog is reverse.

R1 is brake, R3 is e-brake, L1 is upshift, L2 is downshift, X is rear view, etc, etc...

My main emphasis is on the right analog stick.

If you rely on the pressure sensetive X button for gas, I would really suggest trying to use the analog stick instead. It's more like a gas pedal with a bit of travel.

yeah, it does sound sorta complicated, but ive leant to live with it..
i use the right analogue stick to brake and accelerate because that way i can use half throttle by only pulling the analogue stick downn half way, its really good for controlling your car with hardly any traction at all...eg: supra rz with sims..

:) :) :)

Ya kinda have it backwards kikko. Try setting accelerate to 'up' on the analog stick so can push it forward on the edge of the stick and when you brake, let off and let it slide under your thumb so you can pull back on it and control resistance accordingly.

I have been pondering a wicked idea for controlling your car with the Dual Shock 2 that I really hope makes it into GT4.

Leave the whole pressure sensetive stuff the way it is, but with the analog sticks, have the ability to 'steer' with them. Not just direct the car with side to side input.

What I mean is have a 'rotate' option for the analog sticks in the controller options. When the stick is neutral the tyres are pointing forward by default. When the left thumb is pushing the left analog stick all the way forward, the tyres continue to point forward, but when you kinda 'turn' the stick along its limits, have the wheels turn as well.

'Turn' a half circle until it is pulled directly back and your wheels with be cranked over as far as they will go. Let the stick return to the neutral position and they will return to their normal direction as if your in-game steering wheel was turned back to 0 degrees.

That way it won't be so much like "left right left left right" always tapping lightly to keep a straight line and would give the game a more driving feel cuz the sticks won't be so annoyingly sensentive. Also have an option to calibrate it like a wheel, being able to set it so you don't have to turn it a complete 180 degrees to reach the limit of the wheel.

C:\>INPUT?

I use both, I have a cheap $40 U.S. Wheel i bought at Electronics Boutique, Works great but with out it on a solid surface like a table or somthing, its hard, so i use the analog when my TV isnt on a table, which is most of the time, but i can drift alot faster and deeper with my wheel, gives alot more control then the analog but after awhile you can match up your analog controler skills with the wheel...

I started playing with the analog stick on dual shock 2 but switched over to d-pad when I found out you can steer more precisely and smoothly with it, helps alot when drifting :D
the key is to learn to control your left thumb's pressing power just like your right thumb's one
D-pad's response is somewhat slower than even wheel controller's so analog stick comes in handy when the car's going out of control and you need to turn the wheels immediately..
