Just curious.., how many of you on here who own both the PS3, and the XBox will eventually buy both versions?

I know for certain I will own both in the future. I did the same thing with Shift 1. I'm getting the PS3 version first.., then after the prices drop on used copies I'll pick up the XBox version. (I did it the other way around for Shift 1).

Some of you may be confused as to why someone would buy both versions. For me owning both is a great benefit. I'm married with a wife and kiddies. Thankfully we have all the major gaming systems (even all the handhelds.., we still have the original GameBoy too).

It's nice having it on both platforms. In a household where several share all the consoles.., you don't always get the console of your choice :)

If game is good and Ferrari DLC again appears only on X360, I'll probably buy it after some time as used.

I doubt I will ever own both versions. I might switch over to the Xbox360 version if it is substantially better, from a technical point of view. If I don't mind loosing the preorder goodies.

So you PAY for the PS3 version when you can pay less to be able to play online with an Xbox or buy the Xbox version to spend even more money on DLC (i'm sure it won't be free)?

Well, since Ferrari DLC was for the Xbox version only for shift, that'd be a reason. And, well, if you're getting the PS3 version a little later, it'll be cheaper than a full year of XBL gold.

I wouldn't do it myself, but that's about the only reason I can think of.

Then again, there are people who bought multiple copies of GT5 as well...

Why on Earth woud you buy both?

Simple.., if you're like me (as several here are).., and you're married with children and EVERYONE in your household uses the gaming consoles.., well getting to a specific console at times can be a little tough.

That's why it's nice to have titles on multiple platforms. If my wife or kids are on either the XBox or PS3.., well I have the option of the other.

I don't buy the DLC for both consoles though. When I purchase a title on multiple platforms.., I only buy DLC for one console. I end up using one as my main title, and the other as my back up when I can't get to the full one.

With Shift 1.., I have all the DLC for the XBox (including the Ferrari pack). On the PS3.., I see no need for the DLC. Plus I don't buy them back to back. I wait for the used prices to come down prior to purchasing it for another gaming console.

I don't own X360 because i had better ps3 and if any F car appears on X then i will play on my PC, well i know weird. But if you had good PC then there is no need to own X360, some modders / hackers will transfer those cars to PC, first Shift had this amazing thing so probably second also.

well if you have an xbox you should have gold too already anyway for allllll the others game so I dont think you should count that in.

If you buy a xbox for it ok but otherwise I dont see the point.

The problem here is that you will advance further on one console versus the other. Making having both copies...............well a little frustrating in my opinion. When I continue a game, I want to pick up were I left off. I don't want to make up ground by any means. I'd just get multiple game systems instead, one for me, one for everyone else. Whatever accessories you buy for one, will work for the other.

I don't own a Xbox and never will. Its only PC or PS3 for me. I will still never buy multiple copies though.

As far as paying to be online vs paying for DLC. I like the PS3's style wayyy more. If I don't want the DLC, I don't have to buy it. Sony is a little price but hey, at least we don't have to pay to use internet that we already pay for in the first place.

Actually, there one GOOD reason for having it on both platforms (or all three if you can!)...

You increase the number of different players you can race against. Racing online is restricted to that platform's players ONLY. So, two or three platforms, two or three times as many opponents.

I'm only going to get the PS3 version. I don't see why anyone would buy both versions even if there is exclusive (Ferrari) DLC on the Xbox 360 version. That would be a waste of money for a $5 - $10 DLC. You would have to buy the exact same game that you already have on the PS3 for, lets say, $45. Then you would have to buy the DLC for another $10. I wouldn't pay $55 dollars just to experience some exclusive DLC cars like Ferraris. If I wanted to do that, I would go play GT5, which just happens to have many Ferraris.

Its a lot of money just to find someone to play... but that's me being cheap :D

Don't forget certain people can drop over £1000 easily just on a rig and such.
Live is peanuts in this area.

One can do whatever with its own money. I don't care. I've spent more than a fair share too.

I just seem to fail at seeing the why despite the somehow valid arguments posted. Maybe i'm just being obtuse.

Anyway, if I were to do it, i'd rather buy the PC version as a 2nd copy

^ yep I'm buying the PC version for the mods and because it's easier to use my wheel with that, and the PS3 version to play against friends and for quick thrashes in the lounge room.
