Why are people in such a hurry?

I've had the game Since Launch and i'm at 34 and 34 so i'm taking my sweet, sweet time :D

I get my fun from racing. Pretty much anything involving unlocking and earning is boring and in the way. The game would be infinitely better if I could just turn it on and have everything, because then all I would do would be go straight to online lobby and have fun. It's what the game (every game) is supposed to be.

I have nothing against people who like the unlocking thing, but there's no reason to force it on everyone.

EDIT

Level 40 means zero to me, after reaching level 30, everything was made open to me (got the X1 from Vettel). Still, I've needed to grind since that point to get the remaining cars. It's annoying. Online does not pay enough to get anywhere, and offline is too boring to enjoy, so I'm stuck choosing between having fun or grinding. I alternate between the two.

Lots of people enjoy un-lock'ables, 'cause they find pleasure in the fact that: something you have to grind for is often more rewarding.
Personaly i tend to agree. Games that have complete accessibility to everything it has to offer from the start...., mmmm i don't know, sounds dull.
But i feel for you, maybe you need a cheat code: 'open sesame' .., or something like it.
If such a code should exist, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT !!!
Just so we clear.., goodbye.

It may be due to the fact that there are other games out there for players to move on to. Not all players may want to spend a year or several years with the game. For example, just looking at racing games, Forza Motorsport 4 is on the way near year's end, and I can guarantee I won't be doing GT5 when FM4 gets here. It's not as though most GT players are going to spend the next several years with just GT5 and touch no other games, or even just avoid just racing games, until GT6.

Spot on.

Also I'm struggling to understand the mindset of those who ridicule how others want to play the game. I've never known a game have such a schizm whereby people lamblast others for not playing the game a certain way. Endurances spring to mind as an example. A truly excellent game can be played in a variety of ways and can keep the majority of gamers happy.

Over the past months I have seen a lot of threads about grinding towards level 40, collecting all cars, racing gears, horns, paint items etc. I perfectly Understand why people want to collect and complete everything the game has to offer. However, I don't understand why people grind and trade for the sake of it. GT5 is just in the beginning of its life and there are plenty of ways to slowly reach those goals over time. Can someone please enlighten me why it is so desirable to just reach the point where there isn't much left to do besides driving?

I don't understand why some people just can't let others do with their games what they want and even worse some people even try to tell others how they should play their games. Very annoying... Anyway, the game is out for over half a year which is actually rather long if you count in videogame years and it's more than enough time to build up a decent collection of cars even if you never trade. Also I am a gamer and not some weird geek who plays the same game for the rest of his life. Btw our lifetime is also limited and it just natural that people search for the quickest way if they try to achieve something. All the slow people are losers, in both real life and in videogames and that is probably the reason why they complain about others. The early bird catches the worm.

So how does worm taste ?
:yuck:

Relex dude, there's a saying -in dutchmen speak- : 'the brutally own half the world.'
Wel there's always the other half left for the normal.
Just live and let live.
Greetings (slowly) stano666. :)

You should check in the forum, when GT5 was very new some guy reach the platinum trophy after the launch day, or something like that.

Personally i dont care for trophys or exp. level, i like collecting cars, i own 600 cars, starting from 0 twice (Fat died without savegame backup) and its pretty dificult, what i do? grind, buy, race, grind, buy, race and so, and im some kind of hurry, yes, but this is no diferent that i do in the GT series since 1.👍

Interesting reading and some good points that I didn't think of. Thanks for your replies.

By the way, I could live without the angry opinions. You misunderstood it all.

Different people have different "mindsets" when it comes to this program. I use the word program, because personally I dont see this as a "game". For me it's a great "toy" - something to toy with, like lego, ie something to tinker with.

Perhaps the older generation see it as this, and are not bothered about completing the "game" (me included) and the younger generation generally see it as a game to be completed and then shelved.

My stepson cannot understand in the least why Im stuck on GT5. Its the only thing I use the PS3 for and I have been immersed in it since Xmas. I am not interested in any other title.

Im loving the tinkering aspects of GT5 and the possibility to attack it in many different ways within the ongoing experience. For example, Im slowly building up my garage at the moment, just buying odd cars from the UCD and premium dealerships, putting them in storage. And for the racing side, Im working backwards through my garage in reverse order of PP testing out each car, tweaking tuning and upgrading each using the cashcow of the Supercar Challenge in the Online Seasonals to generate cash whilst im enjoying this. Marvellous. Im making notes about each car and marking them as fave's as appropriate.

Its an ongoing and very satisfying experience. Am I interested in getting to level 40 and getting ALL the cars? yes, sure, but not greatly :-) - its a completist by-product of the driving experience which is GT5.

Perhaps also being a fairly experience driver in the realworld helps to appreciate the subtleties of driving in GT5 and the differences between setups and vehicles better. Thus the lack of needing to "complete" the "game" become irrelevant in light of the magic of the driving itself.

I think with something as complete and complex in terms of in play variables is bound to hit different people differently psychologically depending on their maturity, demographics, age, experience, etc.

By default because of it's completeness in terms of basic driving physics, it CAN please such a wide range of people.

Using a realworld analogy... everyone LOVES the bumper cars/dodgems at the fair, but we all play a little differently; some guys will try and ram everyone, some guys just love cruisin' :-)

Lots of boys finish things early just ask some girls about it.

Very true -- Cold but True:ouch: ---
Old guys can't hurry about anything -- :sly:

Enjoy the game any way that works for you. I agree that old guys see it as a great toy and pastime.
