Why are so many people mean drivers when racing online?

It seems like all they do is ram you from behind just to get you out of the way so they can get to the front of the pack. I NEVER see clean racing and there is NO courtesy whatsoever. Does anyone else have this problem?
 
Guess you just need to stay on the back of the pack, you'll see nobody will ever ram you again.
Joke appart I feel you pain. I'm also having troubles with good online racing. I belive you could try and join some races here on the gtp.
 
You are always going to get poor drivers no matter what you try to do to avoid them.
I normally host rooms and I allow everyone one chance. If a person is repeatedly crashing into people or generally being silly, i'll exit the race and kick straight away.
It takes a while to get a room full of decent drivers in my opinion. GT5 was better for online racing I think. My rooms was always full on GT5 it was a pleasure to race.
GT6 seems empty online in comparison.
 
Your best to find a group of people who want to actually race fair and join them. Most of the casuals would be aswell playing need for speed as all they do is turn gt into an arcade game by making everycar handle like its on rails and bashing their way round a track.
I personally would rather do a race on real world tyres and battle to come 5th with real skill and effort that win on one of these on rails everyman for themselves races.
 
The reason players crash into other player's cars is because they suck at the game and can't accept losses, they want to win at any cost and don't care about clean racing or being fair.

Unfortunately PD made the incredibly stupid decision of removing the option to turn collisions off in online races.
I hardly ever join other people's lobbies, I generally create my own lobby, set PP restrictions, ban all aids except ABS (I wish there was an option to ban automatic transmission), enable heavy damage & strong penalties.

Setting a lobby with those options generally keeps bad players out.

Can't say I agree with you. I have been playing GT6 online for almost two months now and have really only run into one single idiot in this time.
I'm happily surprised, or perhaps I've only been lucky?

I agree with VBR - look for those words.

Also, I don't go online much except with friends, but I don't have problems with other drivers - maybe because I drive classic road and race cars and the bad drivers aren't attracted to those cars?
 
I've made friends through clean racing, and we race most days at various times. We come from all over the globe. I also look for names I have been in rooms with before. Look us/me up.

Well, there is also a big difference in braking distance between various players. I try to avoid contact at all cost, but I've tagged people in the rear because folks have hit the brakes hard and early. Some people are good clean players, but just aren't up to the same corner speed as others.

You can usually tell the difference because there will be an apology or the driver will pull over if he inadvertently put you off the track, because stuff happens sometimes. There are tards out there though, you can usually spot the trouble maker because he's driving one of the imbalanced cars.

As I always say, you have to build up a list of good players and be mindful of the bad ones. I'm sure somewhere on a CoD thread, someone is complaining about friendly fire :)

These two clubs are very organized and SNAIL in particular has enforce clean driving very seriously plus their scoring, car/track combo and time are very organized. Their best thing i say about SNAIL is that they put you to compete with people at your level so you will race wheel by wheel competitively and cleanly.

I stopped lobby surfing a long time ago ....done people don't accept losing very well. I now mostly do racing organized by forums .
 
You really only have two choices for good racing in GT. Go lobby surfing and meet a few good people and hosts, friend them, and look for them online. The more of them you have, the more luck you'll have finding good places to race. When you find good people online, they generally know other good people and it's the best way to find the better, cleaner racers online.

Outside of that it's organized series.

Without a driver rating, GT7,8 etc. won't be any different sadly.

Join a lobby with friends who you can trust to race cleanly or sign up with a decent racing league. Random public lobbies will always have at least one jack*** ready to ruin the fun.

I believe the Problem starts with the Offline part of GT. People learn that it has no consequences when you race unfair in career mode. So they continue playing like that in online mode too.

I used to think that, but I think it's just the general attitude of a lot of people to be completely selfish online unless they are forced to behave otherwise. Look at the comments on most Youtube videos, it's just stupidity. GTP is a good example of how a community can behave when they are moderated and GT needs the same thing in the form of driver ratings and a driver ranking system to separate the good from the bad drivers.
 
Chances of getting in a clean room which actually has clean in the title are very slim. Just trial and error I guess, eventually you'll find a good room. Add everyone in it so if they're ever online again, you can join them in future. Obviously not everyone will accept but its likely someone will.

I think everyone rams because the AI in single player is so awful. My impression is most peope just barge their way to the front in the 'career' part of the game, finish a week ahead of second place and think they're the worlds best driver. They then take this mentality online where in reality their skills are anywhere from very poor to average.
People who are fast dont need to ram you to get to the front. They will wait for the opportune moment to make a move on you, and keep the applying pressure until that moment comes.

I feel if PD made the AI more of a challenge, that would in turn have a direct effect on peoples attitude when racing. To be fair though, its the same with every racing game ive ever played online. Just find some people who actually want to race clean and fair (like me. Add Dready1984 on PSN)

Absolutely right. It's not until you get to the S class where you get small penalties for these things.

There are a lot of idiots online, but you find that in every single game you go on. You will find the odd room where everything is clean but they are incredibly hard to come by. General racing etiquette (which is completely different depending on what cars, circuits & style you are racing) should be taught on Gran Turismo, because you find a lot of people enter a lobby for the Formula GT car and drive as if they're in BTCC cars, which is simply not on.

I've really gotta start looking into a league. Yes, I have about a handful of PSN friends that I've met through GTPlanet or online cruising the Nordschleife, but we are hardly online at the same time, or if we are they are doing career mode/Seasonal Events when I'm looking for online action or vice versa.

I feel your pain man i used to deal with the same things in GT5 when it was online not to long after it came out. And the same with GT6, i dont know why people are encouraged to play bumper cars but its rrally annoying for people who WANT to race. I believe its because its like Grand Theft Auto Online, there is nobody to police what goes on. With that being said i just started a series that features endurance racing. We have a small group but most of us came from SNAIL SPEC RACING on Sundays. Where a few of our members have made it to GT Academy in the past couple years. We are a clean group and we would welcome you in open arms if you wish to join. But there are also plenty of very fine leagues out there still and most of them are just as clean.
