Hey guys! Just thought of something. I havnt bought the track dlc. Now, for some of you, this may seem a bit odd, buying all of the dlc bar 1 pack, but it has logic. If you havnt bought the track dlc, then you can still race on spa and the kart tracks. Sure you can't use them in arcade, but I spend most of gt5 online, so I don't see the point. Whats your take on this?

If you only race online you don't have to buy them. The number of rooms running the tracks will decrease in some time though.

I also like to do hotlaps offline so I bought them.

Offline driving, arcade mode driving, if you ever want control of the room settings (see: host) would all be good reasons to buy it.

I ran it tonight in someone else's room, but we raced on RS tires with stock SuperGT cars, which I'd prefer RH tires 11 times out of 10.

In time I may consider buying them if I fall in love with them.....may not be long before that happens......lol :-)

I suppose, but you CAN host on spa without the dlc if the host leaves and your next in line to the...er....throne lol

Nope, it kicks you.
I've seen people say otherwise, but I was just in a room, I was the one to receive control when the host left, but it just kicked all of us, about 8 people. The host even knew it would happen, forewarning all of us because it was Spa, the room would self-destruct when he left, just like created courses.

Maybe it glitches sometimes and doesn't, IDK, but the same also happens when people are using homemade tracks, always a DC for everyone, so I have to assume the exceptions are just glitches.

In any case if you get lucky and get into a Spa room second on the list, and it does hand you the room, you can't change anything about the track, if any settings at all.

Damn ur unlucky, I have had control 10/10. Of spa and kart lobbies :-)

Who likes to do long time trial sessions (like me) have a point in buying the track. i myself bought it yesterday and just done more than 100 laps with different cars :D

Note that you will not be kicked from a private room if the host leaves. If you are on my friends list, you can join my lounge at any time and drive Spa (which I have set as the default track), even when I am not around. I think this is because private lounges don't change ownership, even if the host changes (so you can't change the settings, but you can drive as much as you like).

Ye I have done that a couple times, but you CAN take control of a lobby already on spa if your next in line. It always works for me :-)

Correction on previous post , it would have been cheaper to buy the complete pac so you have payed more for less. Guess it makes sense to you though . Lmfao

But PD have to create exclusive seasonal events for the DLC content, for instance 2h endurance at Spa, new expert seasonals, Super Gt events... time trials... something related with the new stuff, a new Touring Car Championship featuring only new DLC cars... things like that.

He probably had it set to fixed host. I was in a room at Spa last night and ended up hosting. The transfer to me worked fine, we did a race, then I handed the room to another Brit.

I inherited and sucessfully hosted the same dedicated spa room twice, before I had purchased the dlc.

However, you can't change the track settings until you swap to another non dlc track if you become host and haven't downloaded the dlc pack.

I was ready to spend the money without having tried Spa, but after reading this thread, I think that I'm going to use the old "try and buy" trick... :D

So for people that play online only, most i suspect, there was no reason to buy the DLC except so they can select it when they are hosting a room?! The room owner pays for the content and others race on it?! They don't make that very obvious, I think that is misleading and I'm now not sure why I bought it?! All other games DLC is only available if you own it. Feeling a bit ripped off now ...

Well I pretty much do exclusive offline hotlapping, so having it be available in online races doesn't do squat for me. I pretty much have to buy it.

So you're one of those who enrich themselves from other rather than invest your own money?

So, you're in a room and the owner calls a vote - if the room owner owns Spa then it will be an option, if they don't it wont? Or, if there is a vote and Spa wins; but the room owner doesn't have the DLC then the vote says 'sorry u dont have Spa u cant use it'? That means room owners are in two categories; DLC and non-DLC. This is weird, since when is DLC available to ppl who havent bought it !!

http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/products/gt5/dlc/tracks/
"This DLC adds the new tracks to Gran Turismo 5."
No it doesnt, the 2.0 update added the tracks, nowhere do they point this out ....

Free 2.0 update: "Additional cars and improved functionality will be added for free, greatly enhancing your game." .. they fail to state the truth .. this is worthy of a crown court case for non-transparency if nothing else?!

Players from the USA are already enjoying Spa despite it not being available to them as DLC, I bet you theres a lot less Americans buy the circuit since they are aware of this situation ...

How do you know it's on the PS3? How do you know the PS3 isn't just downloading it every time you join a room? Why do you sound so angry about all of this? Would it being in the update somehow mean nobody should have to pay for the DLC?

In either case, I consider it a nice consolation prize for not being able to purchase it already. 💡

There's also the possibility come a week or two from now non-buyers will become locked out of rooms running the track. 💡

I am angry because the page selling the DLC is misleading and deliberately incorrect. At no point was I made aware that I could use Spa without buying it.

The DLC circuit is a "Room owner upgrade"

If you don't buy Spa Francorchamps, it's your loss, I don't really see why anyone need to convince you otherwise or to pat you on your back.

It's a very good point, I personally don't bother with the A-spec races because the AI is rubbish, and I never host lobbies so it makes no sense for me to buy any of the packs for that matter.

Hi m8, glad to be of service. :-)

Thanks very much m8, just making people aware :-)

Exactly, I just want to make people aware. Downloading the pack has it's good points, but if you wanna race on spa only online, then just look for the rooms and hop straight in :-)

No, I just don't think I will fully utilise spa and the kart tracks. It makes no sense spending cash for something I will rarely make use of. Spa is a great track, but I just dont see it being fully worthwhile :-)

You have every right to feel ripped off m8, if u only race online, then really there was no point :-)
