Why can't I make a BMW 328ci to race in Rally?

I know I can't buy rally tires for it - duh... but ****, i tried these couple things:
#1 hybrid dirt tires from a normal car
#2 hybrid rally tires from a rally car
#3 hybrid a rally chassis with rally tires

......and still no success


Anyone have any suggestions?

Here's a solution - don't use hybrids!

I never use hybrids, it'd make me feel like a cheater.

you need to be able to buy dirt tyres for it...if you cant select the tyres you cant race the rally.....besides, try rallying in that thing and you'll get thrashed...

um yea you cant buy dirt tires for a gt one but i can race on of those rally style.
i can select the tires thru hybriding
i love the 328ci in real life so thats what i want to race when i rally

Dude! Lay Off The Red Meat!! I don't really see running a 2WD Bimmer against a 4WD Evo as cheating. I would say running a max'd out Escudo as more of what you're talking about ... and you don't even need a Sharkport for that.

As for making a BMW rally car ...

It's probably because BMW's weren't meant to be gotten all dirty.
With the exception of the old AWD 3-series of the 1980's, I would think a Bimmer would be ill-equipped to "play in the dirt."
Have you allready tried the Ruf CTR?, The FTO and IMPREZA LM cars?
I would really like to get the TK ZZII dirty. But dirt tires are unavailable for it also.

TurboSmoke - without hybrids, you wouldn't have a game at all. I mean, what is a Peugeot 206 WRC if it isn't a hybrid? It's got a Pug 206 shell, with a chassis swap, suspension swap, engine swap, donated turbo, different wheels, different tyres, vastly reduced mass etc. etc... You get a 206 S16 from GT3 and turn it into a 206 WRC. Can't be done - but in real life it can. I don't see why you have a problem with someone wanting to do the same with a BMW 328.

True, people use hybrids to beat the game and those people suck ass. But why rag on someone who just wants a little fun?

A quick question regarding hybrids..

I don't have a X-port as i've mentioned many times but say i wanted a F1 rally car (like the one in the genome project)
Could these hybrid cars be traded in the same way as the normal cars in the game from a person who has the gear to do hybrids to someone who does not .?

I know this may seem an obvious question but i honestly don't know these things ..I would so love to get my hands on that funky F1 Mini Cooper looks like a real buzz

I'm pretty sure you can trade them just as you would normal cars. If you have an X-Port you can clone any car, with MK's software. Currently I am going to run an F090/s in the F1 cup (but with a P002 body, because us Pal peoples don't have the other F1 bodies), which is on another mem card, I have traded it to my current save just like a normal car. But it may depend on what car you base it on, because some normal cars cannot be traded or sold (S2000 and Chrysler Oreca viper).

What you can do Tecra, is get a normal rally car that is approxamate dimensions as a BMW, then just hybrid the rally car with the BMW body. That should do it.

But there is a gentleman by the name of Heydu here that is extremely well versed in making hybrids. Drop him a PM with your question as he will be able to explain everything in greater detail than I could.

thanks boom, after trying time and time again i came to the realization that is the ONLY way to hybrid my 328ci. thanks also for the referral on Heydu, i will PM him.

Tecra, sorry mate...i was trying to make a joke of it and i had no idea you had completed the stages already...

on sunday, i was driving along the motorway about 80mph and curising with a big smile on my face....then suddenly i hit a piece of metal debris lying on the road and it flew up and cracked a great hole in the radiator of my beautiful beloved italian Fiat Punto HGT...i had to screech to a halt to stop my engine from overheating due to no water or collant in the system...

she's now in the garage (intensive care unit) and i am awating for a phone call any moment....i hope she will be okay....

so you see...you should really forgive me for being grumpy... i am pacing the room all day and anxious...and waiting the bill for the damage....

am i forgiven? oh go on...you know you want to...please?

i just had a call and the punto is bad news...a cracked and warped cylinder head due to the collant exploding from the radiator and the engine overheating...jeezuz....if it wasnt under warranty i would be shelling out thousands...as it is its gonna take a few days to get the parts from FIAT and a partial engine rebuild....i'll get it back in 5 days...so its public transport for me for a while...

Sorry to hear about the damage. I'm amazed that it's covered under warranty since it was not caused by failure on the part of the car, but by "outside influence". Good luck in the interim.

actually i know quite a bit about car engines and you're right, i was shocked when i was told...

i pulled over immediately when it was safe, i was on a motorway...about 2 miles or so....but the noise of the engine after it happened was sickening...it sounded like it was industrial tractor...i was afraid it was going to go on fire because there was smoke coming into the cockpit and the smell of burning was awful.....the engine in the HGT is sweet and quiet, i hope they can repair it......


err...i dont want to talk any more about the W word...

If you check on the GT3 UK Map, you'll see you live near daan. I was the creator of the P001 and TS020 rally cars, and sent the replays to daan who then made the GT Genome Project. If you go visit him, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to trade them across, after first slapping your ass silly around your choice of track

Added onto that, the link MotoGuzzi supplied is from my hybrid guide, and explains how to make a rally car out of anything. If you can't do it (it's a little contrived), I'll do it for you and send you the ini gladly. You'll need an X-port though - I can't see it working with Gameshark codes, sadly.

I'm working on a better method. Well, I say working... I mean, it's in my mind, but I haven't had the time yet. Hopefully I can make it easier.
