why did PD map the stars?

Multiplayer really needs to be reorganized, it's really a mess. They will never get something easy and fast to use like Forza's MP.
Because Forza is entirely built and developed as an MP game. GT is not. Two very different games with two very different motives.

To me, MP/Community features can rot in GT. But this has nothing to do with the fantastic reasoning behind the night environments as the topic name of this thread says it is. Oh wait. Hello complain thread! Missed you! I think this is the entire first page of this sub-forum.

You people seem very jaded about minor flaws in an overall excellent game. Perhaps you should take a camping trip to Cornwall, lie back, and watch the stars.

Although I advise against going to Britain at the moment, the smog was so bad at Gatwick on Thursday that the plane was still over the airport at the point the ground stopped being visible.

Smog, something much worse than the sounds in a game not being absolutely perfect.

What?

What have you been taking man?

I would hate to think about how bad the offline portion of gt6 would have been if pd developed it as an MP game

I agree that the stars are way too bright; it was obvious from the trailer. I'd hoped that was just for the trailer, but the game proper has the same problem. It even seems to be upsetting the HDR metering, such that the bright stars cause the rest of the scene to be shifted towards black. In some cases, people are complaining of visibility problems.

As for why, well it's obvious: because it looks better when they're real, and most of us should be familiar with how the sky looks. It's a subtle detail that is easy to get right, although excessively bright stars is a common problem in games.

More Neil deGrasse Tyson:

...How can Kazunori be so perfectionist in terms of physics, reproduce them in the game...and leave collisions out?
He himself stated he got involved in an car crash (he was driving a skyline).
He also said he dosen't like damage in the game, but has conceded to some extent.

David Tennant... ...man?

I note that your post makes the assumption that the person you're responding to is an adult male. I know some people who would get very angry with you for making such an assumption.

Anyway, my point is that people have a tendency to exaggerate the negatives of their experience of a work while ignoring the positives. Would I rather GT6 had better sounds and better damage modelling, yes, but I'm not going to lose sleep over such matters. The only thing about GT6 which I can honestly say detracts from my enjoyment of it is the lack of endurance races, in which case I can just go back to one of the previous GTs, or play Race 07, or something. Otherwise, GT6 is a notable improvement on the 3 instalments which precede it, all of which were notable improvements on each other, and all of which were excellent games.

People need to chill out, rather than freak out about the fact that a very cool and relatively easy to implement feature might have somehow gotten in the way of Polyphony implementing better sounds in the game, despite the fact that the sound department probably isn't staffed by the same people who work on the skyboxes.

Chill out people, it'll do your blood pressure some good, and you'll ultimately be happier.

Very long winded :nervous:

To tell people to chill out when they have a right to voice their complaints? I think you might want to take an extreme look at what GT6 actually is before telling people to chill out.

To say GT6 was an improvement is just laughable when it's missing things GT5 had(Which I didn't like it either) Course Maker.............I can't even be bothered to think of everything else it's missing, but still there really has been no improvements to mine and a lot of other people's eyes.

Night Sky REALLY! I wouldn't say anything about it(Mapping the Stars) if the game were completed when I've played Red Dead Redemption and GTA V looking into the night sky sometimes I have nothing negative to say about either why THE GAMES WERE COMPLETE.

Agree. Some people just love to bitch and complain.
But, have to say... sometimes patience runs out even for die hard fans like me.

You seem to forget the costs of all the other features that we mentioned and that only a few care about.

"Making new sounds = not even done at the same department"

that's why I said stop thinking about time and start thinking about money...

All other features are not related to the stars on the night sky.

Time is money.

this is what i think happened...

someone decided 3 races on the moon with the moon buggy was a good idea (and also its silent so no need for any vacuum cleaner recording)

they needed a star map for that

so put the star map on night races

DONE.... like adam jensen says, i didnt ask for this

but its a small thing that can show in their ads, there arent even a lot of nice races as it is

you can say well forza4 does it? well no it doesn't a bumper flying off and some ms paint scrapes don't count as damage.
I stop you right there. I never said anything about visual damage. I don't care about that.
I care about collisions (an isolated event in which two or more objects exert forces on each other for a relatively short time) and how these collisions will affect the way you will drive the car.
GT has it, but in really basic and sometimes unrealistic way

But that's really off topic, I'm gonna stop. We've gone from the stars to investments in features and now to visual damage etc..
