Why do people crack it so hard?

I drift a lot, I've been drifting in GT5 since prologue first hit the shelves and I bought GT5 just so I could continue doing so. Most probably not as long as most of you here but its a pretty good stretch to learn how to drift properly.

Now I have a whole range of PROPER drift cars like my RX7, Monaro, RX8 and a bunch more.

But I also have a fairly big range of vehicles that you normally wouldn't see drifting at all. I've tuned all these cars such as a 40's VW Beetle, Honda Odyssey (Van), Daihatsu Midget and others. So when I decide to bring one of those out on the track, why do people rage so hard when I am clearly drifting around the track, even better than some of the other people on that server?

I was just in a D1 Tandem Drift room, the owner was Tandem_Sativa. Now the guy had it restricted to Comfort Hard, thats understandable if EVERYONES car was tuned to work best on them. How ever my cars are tuned to work comfort soft or sports hard depending on their power. So I simply just said "Comfort hard restricted?" as in a hint that it would be nice to have comfort soft also. If he refused to change it then no worries, I will use one of my drift cars that work better on that type of tyre.

BUT instead of saying "nah it stays as CHard", out of no where he just rages over his mic about my honda odyssey and starts telling me that it cannot drift and that I should leave before I get kicked. Not to mention while he is saying all this I am holding it sideways around the Toscana track he made. I told him that it does drift and he said "Get 🤬" and kicked me.

Its like another time on a Tsukuba Drift session, I brought the VW out and and I had that sideways 90% of the time taking every corner perfectly fine. I was keeping up with most cars in the group until the server owner picked up his mic and decided to be a raging hero.

If you are one of those people that have a big issue and think that its a must, as if its some kind of law, for EVERYONE to drift what people would call a proper drift car.. Then give your opinion as to why.

Naturally, the mainstream (Rx-7, AE-86, ect drifters) reject what they see as unique (Oddessy, VW Bug, ect) and automatically see it as a threat to their little perfect world of wankels and tofu-haulers.

If you go to a competition room tires will be limited because you don't want one person with comfort hards running against someone running race softs. Its to keep the field fair. Same thing with FF(or really anything other than FR) cars. Its to even out the field. No one can say well xxx beat me because his car is FR, mine is FF!!
But them being rude about it is a different thing. You've got bad apples everywhere though.

He raged at me as well because i was using my wrx.
And i was using comfort hard.

I kick people for using jdm cars!!

Makes just as much sense as kicking them for being original, I give everyone props for properly drifting cars that you don't see drifting every day. This isnt the only game of this type where this happens often to people (Forza). I think if your just hanging out and drifting like everyone else the car should mean nothing. Iklipse you can drift with me anytime in anything you can drift!

And if you believe I kick people for using jdm cars then I have some property I wanna sell you!

Our D-MAX lobbies often allow AWD, but as soon as they start abusing it and/or knocking other cars off the track they get kicked.

If they've specifically stated the limitations for their rooms and these are mentioned, then they have every right to kick you.

If they've neglected to do so and have not restricted the room themselves, their fault.

my only thing with AWD drift is i see people cant hold a tandem with someone else and end up screwing up their drift knocking them off course and it gets old quick to me but if your hanging with everyone and not screwing them up then whatevs your more then welcome to stay but one thing that bugs me is when i host a room and have the tires set to a level and someone comes in asking me to change it and when i say no they trip i mean if you dont like my settings then find another room simple as that theres plenty more out there

For proper tandems to work you need a "proper" drift car. You won't see someone tandeming in a van with an RX7. If so it won't look so good. They are just no match.

I don't thinks that's the case have you seen me drift my ft150 lightning or a Jeff Gordon nascar. it may be quite a sight but because I've set them up to suit me they are just as good as any other car and they look surprisingly good. Also gets a few Wtf comments

A room stating D1 battle means no AWD and obviously not Midget or cars that couldn't keep up with higher powered cars.

comfort hard sucks when your power to weight ratio is a low number. Scratch that, comfort hard is worthless period unless your car is underpowered or you turn on baby aids. I do not enjoy spinning in every single gear around the entire track in a 1991 Lexus GS300.

Comfort soft and Sports hard all day.

1. Just ignore those people and join lobbies of people on here as they are much nicer.
2. I never really understood why people limit tyres to comfort hard when any road tyre in real life is acceptable.

I think 80% of the GT5 drifters would not agree with you on that.. I guess its just how you tune your stuff..

Awd, Almost every drift room hates awd cause it takes a LOT less skill and they mess up other peoples lines and they drift really fast.

I got a 700hp chaser on comfort hards and I can easily tandem with nissans or bmws.

It's all about the tune.

But the WORST thing about comfort softs and sports hards is that noone can tandem with you and it naturally ruins your lines. I'm somewhat fine with comfort mediums I can barely keep up with them but comfort softs and up are not my favorite.

Uh, I drift a Skyline 2000GT-R KPGC10, and I never see those around, but I love the damn thing.

You can drift with me anytime.

^ the '73 Skyline GT-R? Yeah I used to drift mine constantly as well. I never see people drift the cars that I use like the Chrysler Prowler, '83 Silvia 240RS, '91 Lexus GS300 etc.

I tried Sports hards just for the fun of it and it was just foot to the floor and tank slappers for all 30 seconds of it. Then I put comforts back on.

Take in consideration that most unusual drift cars are not premium meaning that you can't acquire them in an easy way.
As for the tyre debate this is off rule and also a failed attempt at trolling, blame your skills if you can't enjoy CH tires. In all the GT games (since the 3 at least) the tires used to drift were the "less grippy" ones.

If anyone is old school enough here to remember team FBI they were all using simulation tires in GT3 and economy tires in GT4, and at the time nobody was whining or bragging that higher end tires are better. And team FBI was one of the best team at the time.
Sport tires kills lines and unless you have 1000hp can't link corners properly, manji looks ridiculously weak with sports tires also.

I use CH on everything from my 200Hp Trueno to my 500Hp RX7, and it's wonderful. When I first learned in my S15, I tried comfort softs because I was told to, and I got snap back like crazy. Less with mediums, but still a pain. After a bit of practice on CHs, it was worth it.

it's called ripping the e-brake instead of constantly powering-over. I am fine with Comfort Hard. I was even more fine when I had my G27 and Obutto cockpit. I just prefer Sport Hard for my high-power cars. It doesn't ruin lines. You need to learn to drive.

Sounds good :P I'm glad there's a lot of you who don't actually mind drifting unusual cars.

But yeah here's some of the ones I'm talking about, these are mine. This is what people sook about, yet they are clearly drifting:
