Why do you enjoy Hybrid cars?

I love the unrealistic cars. I love being able to go 500 mph in a Fiat 500 or to go 999 mph in some other car  It always gives me a good chuckle.

Epic driving !

...see, this is the segment of the Hybrid car community that I can't wrap my head around.

Creating a custom car that's well within the realm of possibility, I understand.

Within the context of Gran Turismo, I'm having trouble understanding why someone would want to build an "arcade racer" car, as it were. If you wanted a few chuckles and wanted to take an unrealistic car out for a spin, why not just pop in an arcade racer?

Or, I suppose the question might be better framed as: why modify Gran Turismo to be something it was clearly never intended to be, rather than just playing a game that caters more to your desires?

The newest hack i have seen is a Fiat 500 with wheels not connected to it and an upgraded Red Bull engine.

It's been around for quite a while, actually.

There's also the same but with 2CV body, and also a midget on the X2011 chassis/engine (*cough* guilty as charged).

All very silly, but good for a laugh, if you're in the mood for them and have already done everything in the game. I do still play the game properly, but occasionally a bit of insanity is too hard to resist.

The one in the video that I built kart 100, has 59 hp, kart 125 engine + chassis with power bump :) I am currently building stock power kart 100 and 125 with 6 speed, and 45 HP 125 with 6 speed, these might be used for league races. I can also fit 6 speed on the kart junior. Also possible to change default tire to racing hard for more powerful kart or lower grip like comfort soft for even more fun with stock karts. Not changeable in game though, so the tires fitted will be permanent ( only on current tuning sheet ) - so original tire can still be used on other tuning sheet - unless it has been copied over.

Ahh never thought of dropping the 125 engine into the 100.. Ive done similar except a 61hp 100 kart with a 4 speed trans. Not bad, needs more grip though.

May I ask which gearbox you use on your Karts. Everytime I add a 6speed the driver tries to shift (grabbing the middle of the wheel bizarrely) and the kart loses all drive and braking.

I use a custom 6 speed gearbox from a corvette if not mistaken, I did so many cars  Make sure to use the full custom not the default stock gearbox.

Because GT5's tuning options are extremely limited to their real life counterparts. People can use this "cheat" to get more powerful (but still realistic) cars, such as a Turbocharged NSX or a Mustang with 1,000 horsepower. Equally, there is a thread in GT5 Photomode section showing chassis swaps and how they can enhance a car's looks.

When you swap transmissions in anything make sure to use a fully customizable one, I use a viper acr fully customizable 6 speed in my karts.

So far the only swap that has given me strange effects was putting an evo drivetrain in my 3,000 hp kart, it gave me big delays between shifts and it has no brakes at all but going 400+ mph on route X is all it was built for.

I haven't some it yet but a buddy of mine actually has a 69 Z28 with an LS6 in it. Would love to recreate that car in this game.

I will however admit to permenantly borrowing one of the 102,047hp Red Bulls last night but only for laughs and a way to get $ in one race should a 2J pop up and I have no money. Other than that the unrealistic cars are a useless anoyance to me.

I'm not sure if it's possible because of invisible walls, but I'd like to see how far I can launch one of those 3000 hp cars into the bay from the Cape Ring jump.

You've answered your own question... you can't.

Epic lulz lul lul...

We'll all have to pay the price when PD take away the ability to backup a save to anything but PS+ in gt6.

I want that :drool::drool:

You'll have to ask Rido if you want it soon....but I'll put it up on share when I have it as well so you can FR me if you like. I'd like to do a series with shifters as well. I don't think I've been this excited about anything else in GT5:)

Glad I'm not the only one who's had this idea :)
What tranny did you swap in?

Rido mentioned it a few posts back. 👍

Finally got a chance to make my car tonight... LS9 (09 C6 ZR1) powered 69 Z28. My new favorite car 👍

Since the rest of the car is absolutely stock (except for the transmission I need to change) it drives like old muscle should ;)

In my mind this is what the Hybrids should be about. Real world attainable cars for pure driving enjoyment.

See, this, I get.

This, I don't. o_O

Or at least, I don't see the appeal for this kind of racing, framed in the context of Gran Turismo.

I mean, if this kind of thing is your thing, more power to ya, but it's not my cuppa.

I think that midget is funny to look at - but I wouldn't want one, let alone race one. Never raced with a normal midget anyway, wouldn't want to even do that.

Don't mean to sound like a total newbie, but how do I go about making hybrid cars? How do I "hack" the game?

That would be paying the price for their laziness. Modding isn't an excuse to do something as ridiculous as locking saves.
