why does everyone hate the escudo?

yeah what handling.... and.... whoever said that the escudo is the best on ralli... someone REALLY needs to learn how to drive... theres no control on it either.. lol

did you leave out the word "win" there? i'm not etirely sure what you're trying to say.
i certainly agree that it's the fastest in rally terms, but "best" means different things to different people. i really stink in the Speed 12, for instance, even though it's a fabulous car (when tuned). therefore, i might sooner say the V8 Vantage is the "best" (not that i am) for some race that others would claim the Speed 12 is best suited for. likewise, how useful the Escudo is (in a rally sense) to someone is contingent upon on his or her driving style more than the ability to drive.
since you're obviously quite adept at driving the Escudo, you would be more inclined to defend it than to bash it than a person whose driving style doesn't suit this car.

Ving is very true. My Skyline (VspecII R34) has just over 1000 bhp and it can barely turn because of the power behind it.

I think it's just a bit if fun.
It understeers terribly, but it's a gas just to open it up and watch the scenery bombing past.
Wouldn't use it to rally as I think most of the other cars handle far far better.

For those of you who don't know, the reason why it understeers so much is because its a 4WD.
4WDs aren't really meant to turn sharp corners unless they have a lot of drift, you know what I'm saying?
With the wheels going at the same time, it makes it harder to turn corners while accelerating because of the thrust making it go forwards.

Personally, I don't drive 4wds unless I'm on the test course, or I have to.

I have to agree with j2s. Considering it the best would have to be in your own personal opinion. I can drive, but my personal best car is either an F1 or the GT-One Road Car. She can turn to an extent, but she handles beautifully.

Like it says above. It handles horribly stock but with some tuning it can hang within a few seconds of an f1 on most tracks. On midway i think it has the top time. On complex string i think i got it around 3:55. Ill check later. Besides its power cant be beat.

Even though it's the Wheelie trick The Toyota GT-One Race Car can go to speeds excess 1000+mph. (i've gotten to 1044mph with the GT-One, wheelie trick)

Yeah really i find the Celica the best car for turning on rally the best for my personal opinion. Cuz i use the E-Brake to get around corners(in my opinion the best way to take any sharp turn in rally)
and find the Celica the best.....

see if you say it like that... i now think that you don't slap a turbo 4 on it.......
i jumped to the conclusion that most ppl who think the escudo rally is fun is just cuz they woop the competition so much... if you don't use turbo stage 4, then, yes it is a DECENT car..... sorry for that quote on ya early on.. sorry!

but more importantly, it's fugly! :p

wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole..... behind me....... with a blindfold on.............. under the influence of alkyhole......... druged up........... and at gun point all at the same time!!!! :p

I think it would look better without all the Sponcer stickers on it and everything and had a Design like the GT-One '98 edition.

I'm just wondering. What is this GT-One Wheelie trick?

Look the car is fast and all but it does lack something on looks. The paint job is good but less anme is better. And dont get me stared on the spoiler u cant c over the thing.

I dont mind the escude for the thrill of the ride. I do admit that i handles quite crap, but Ive got it our of that understeer habit, and it drives quite like the Viper GTS-R Team oreca, it handles like a drea. Contact me if you want the settings, lol

you're supposed to drive with the dash view.

What the hell is with all you caring what a car looks like. Its a race car. im not going to go pick chicks up in it. Besides, its a freaking game.

j2s
I wasnt saying the f1 cars sole purpose was for winning races easy, but thats what many people do. If an f1 car is faster than the escudo, of course its better for cheating.

A car cant be overpowered. A car can have too much power for its grip though. In gt3s case grip = downforce. When I got my r34 gtr tuned to 1000 some hp, I would have to start braking very very soon for every turn. It was rediculious. This was because the car has no downforce. The escudo has plenty.

And to all you people that say it understeers horribly, learn how to tune a ****ing car. Considering how much the car undeersteers stock, if I can start turing times as fast as an f1 car with the escudo, that is good.

EDIT: that last comment was mainly aimed at josh.

I just want to say that i enver use the F1 cars, i only use them in the F1 races, i find it cheating aswell if oyu use them to win races, it ruins the GT spirit. And good points about downforce. What colour was ur GT-R by the way, just out of interest ?

probably black. need to go check. It was just rediculous driving it. You would accelerate down the long r246 straight, and end up braking almost at the start/finish line.

If people don't know this already, i'll tell em
but, the reason the escudo understeers so friggin much is cuz of the power in the engine
as your car accelerates, all the force is pushed to the back of the car, making the front lift up slightly. In cases of extremes, the front of the car will literally lift up and causing the wheelie to deploy
(C) wheelie Trick

what you do to reduce understeer?
a: DON"T give it a FRIGGIN stage 4 TURBO!!!!!!
b: Less dforce on the back, more on the front
c: stiff rear springs, loose front

Yeah that eliminates most of the understeer.

The only way you will get me to use it in GT3 would be if they had Pikes peak hillclimb. That is it's sole use in real life, so thats what I would use it for in the game.

Just checked their site...the current record is:

1994 UNL Rod Millen Toyota Celica SuperSportTurbo 10:04.06

Accomplished in 1994.

HOWEVER...yes he DID win in a Tacoma in '98 and '99 but he didn't beat his time in the Celica.

I personally don't drive it...it's fast...and I've tuned it to where it handles pretty good, but I just don't like the car.

When there are so many to choose from I'd prefer to drive something I think looks good.

In the Rallys I drive the Subaru Concept WRX.

I can beat the AI in normal cars so I don't feel the need to overpower it with the Escudo.

I'd say I take it out of the garage about once every couple months just for a rush of speed.

I think if there wanted to make a reason to have it on the game they should program a race where you NEED to drive it because the race is ALL Escudos like the F1 cars. Now that would be cool. All Escudos controlled by the AI...wow...now that would be a wild race.
