Exclusive racer on the PS3 with real licensed cars? Ok, I know we have Supercar Challenge but that is a very minor title and I think it's only available in Europe at the moment. I mean, the PS3 has been out just over 4 years and they only have one quality exclusive racer (with real licensed cars)???
I realize the 360 has been out about a year longer but it has a total of 5 exclusive licensed racers plus Test Drive Unlimited which originally came out first on the 360.
Seems us PS3 owners are really suffering when it comes to exclusive PS3 racers. Yet, we have plenty of shooting and explosion crap like Killzone, Resistance and MGS. Thank God GT5 is almost upon us 👍

Sorry if I sound grouchy, I just feel that us racing/driving fans always get the short end of the stick and yet they constantly shovel FPS **** in our faces

because ps3 only needs 1... gt5

Well, I don't know about you EB but I'm a car nut and I for one would love to see a new exclusive racer for the PS3 every year or so. On average, the 360 has received just over one a year since launch. If they can produce FPS ahoy (seemingly every other week) surely it would not be asking too much for us racing fans to produce an exclusive licensed racer every year?

^ Yeah, same here.

What I would have liked is for the grid to consist of different types of cars. The cover is somewhat misleading because it gives the impression that an FXX, DBR9 and F1 are all racing together on one track.

However, I do like the cockpit views and the handling feels quite true to real life.

What 5 quality exclusive licensed racers are you even talking about ?

Xbox:
- Forza
- Bizarre's Project Gotham (dead)

PS3:
- Gran Turismo
- Studio Liverpool's F1 (dead)
- MotorStorm*
- WipEout*
- Twisted Metal* (2011)

Every other decent game is multiplatform:

- Midnight Club
- Burnout*
- Need for Speed
- Race Driver
- DiRT
- Blur
- WRC
- Codemasters' F1
- etc.

Test Drive Unlimited was out for Xbox 360 when there wasn't a PS3 yet, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be multiplatform.

* no licensed cars

crap like Killzone, Resistance and MGS
smh

well we have Midnight Club, NFS, Grid, F1, maybe non-simulators, but thats the same with Test Drive

Yeah but they are multiplatform, Misterious. I'm saying we've only got GT5 as a PS3 exclusive with licensed cars after just over 4 years of the PS3 being available to buy. That is unacceptable imo.

Yeah, it's a shame that it's all the same cars in every race.

My god though, trying to get the power down in the Zonda F in wet weather with no assists on is insane. It's a damn tough game in wet weather. But yeah, the cockpits are great.

Xbox 360:

Forza 2
Forza 3
PGR 3
PGR 4
Race Pro

PS3:

GT5
Supercar Challenge (almost unknown)

The others on that list have either fictional cars (Wipeout, Motorstorm) not sure about Twisted Metal or F1 cars only (no road legal cars, rally cars, touring cars, etc)

What does 'smh' mean?

Yeah, weather is also another nice feature of SC. TBH, I don't play it too often. I'm concentrating on Test Drive Unlimited, PGR3 and Forza 3 at the moment lol. Until GT5 comes out, of course :)
Amazon dispatched my copy of Hot Pursuit this morning so will be here tomorrow.

an exclusive usualy means involvement with either sony or microsoft in some smal way and sony probably wanted to focus on gt5

Thanks :)

I really don't know what the fuss is about FPS. For me, they are boring as **** Fun for maybe 2 hours tops. I'm certainly not paying £40 for 2 hours worth of enjoyment.

Everyone's different. ;)

I got MW2 for £40. 19 DAYS worth of online play later... still loving it.

I don't really care that there aren't many exclusive licensed PS3 racers out there. Gran Turismo is king on playstation, would you go against it? I know PS3 has been out for like 4 years, but I certainly expected it to come out every single year.

Can't wait now.

You forgot GT5:P.

F1:Championship Edition was a PS3 exclusive, and they had 'real, licensed cars', you can not omit it from the list because you don't count F1 cars as cars.

I also like the way you put 'almost unknown' after supercar challenge. I've never heard of Race pro, can I list that as almost unknown?

This thread is just... silly

PS3 Fanboy much???

What are you talking about OP?

The PS3 is LACKING in the shooters. The 360 is the one that gets the big name FPS titles.

PS3 is lacking games overall. It's not just racers.

I'm happy that i don't suffer by this. I mostly play fighting games, and all of them are multi-platform.

quality over quantity

I played Gt5P for nearly 2 years.
Forza 3 i played for nearly 2 months...

You're right, I don't count F1 cars as 'cars' Not in the true sense of the word, anyway ;)

But yeah, SC is almost unknown. Not even available outside of Europe, I believe. Race Pro in contrast, is available worldwide and designed by SimBin, the same creators of the likes of GTR Evo, etc. Very well-known company.

Sorry about not adding GT5P. For me, extended demos don't count ;-)

Thats you though - not everyone

360 had Forza 2 & Forza 3 in which i put a lot of time into

GT5P is practically a demo with minimal content that i did also put a lot of time into but cannot be compared with full games that have lots of content.

I probably spent more time in the Livery editor and the Auction house in both forza games than playing GT5P

Yes it's a totally "taste" "opinion" thing.

But Livery editor and the Auction house, don't really count as driving game either:crazy::sly:

For me what "killed" Forza was the lack of 1:1 between the wheels and a 900° wheel, and the steering buffer.

I said last night "I don't know why people like shooting each other that much" concerning how many FPS are released :)

Sorry you will have to expand on that....

GT5 has used car lots but in reality forza has 'real' used car lot which is the auction house.

How many GT fans wanted 'Racing Mod' feature back well Forza you can completely design your car however you want it.

You are talking about Pro racing games over platforms,as I concern FM is a Gran Turismo ripoff, why have another GT ripoff uder the same platform, namco did that with entusia at the times of GT4,great game but it didnt go well due the GT4's release, and 4 years isnt that bad, fable 2 took over 3 years to develop and is not that good,as well fable 3(like 3 years),they are good RPGs but not as good as they should be,besides PGRs are good games, but they are only arcades, and the rest of racing games are multiplatform like the codemasters F1 game wich is amazing, there is also shift,grid,etc...

the thing for me is not the amount of games but the quality of these, game developers will not blew all their money on basic titles on medium stream titles,is relatibly easy to develop a game for the Xbox platform but since there could be a huge library of games one or two could be good.

I think namaco wanted to do Entusia 2,but since their mayor title(or the one that could sell more)aka Rigggggeeee Raaaccerrr (pure arcade spaceship driving)takes a lot of money to be develop and therefore no money for racing games could be left for it.

I consider GT5 as the game that can cover these holes on the PS3 library,as well a good F1 game (codemasters F1) and a good WRC game(Dirt is a bit arcadish but that will do because the WRC oficial games is a bit doll).

maybe that is why...

(edit:sorry for spelling errors I'm writing from PSP)

It would be nice if a developer stepped up and we could have at least a Project Gotham-style racer every couple years for the Playstation. That would help keep thing fresh, without really infringing on GT's territory.

I concern FM is a Gran Turismo ripoff

?

Its not a GT5 ripoff its a competitor and without competition GT5 wouldnt have half the features it has today.

Forza brought a whole lot more content than any GT ever did (even if GT is still a bigger title liked by many more fans).

They focussed more on content than physics which makes them completely different games.

Forza 2 & 3 vastly improved the physics but IMO still not anywhere near GT standards.

What people forget is that along with great physics you need fun to keep it interesting and thats what i believe forza/turn10 done by bringing great content like.

Livery Editor
Auction House
Gift Cars
Engine Swaps
Cockpits in every car
Full Damage Modelling
Many many great cars and even manufacturers not available on GT

All this maybe doesn even put forza in the same 'League' as GT but it certainly puts it up there and it has clearly rubbed off on PD as they have listened to fans shouting about what GT's competition has.
