Rivals is a rip off from Autolog from NFS and is not hard to implement.

I love how people get so negative when someone copies a good idea. Autolog was a good idea. Someone had to have it first, and it happened to be NFSHP. At that point, there are two options for other games. Copy it (either wholesale or with tweaks) or don't. Which one is better, really?

The options they've added to online lobbies are awesome. 👍

It doesn't matter when half the room gets disconnected because GT5's servers suck, does it?

There are no GT5 servers hosting your lobby.

This means nothing, thank you for a post of nothing.

You're both greatly missing the point. If people can connect and play other games just fine, including other racing games, but not GT5, then the problem lies with GT5, and not the individuals.
It's called "deductive reasoning", or logic, to the simpleton. :sly:

My apologies for pointing out an factual error.

If you're interested in the reasons for some players struggling with the online experience, just follow above link.
I'd propose to carry out discussions about connectivity issues in that thread.

On topic, I agree that those connectivity issues on your part might very well annoy you.

People want other things. Like when the first DLC was released, people said they wanted more road cars. Also in the updates, many people are complaining about that.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE DON'T PLAY!

Those are probably the same people who have made wishlists, as well and hyped up the game to their own accord. Those of us here unless you can find evidence have not (I know for sure I haven't) made such things because they're a waste of time and those who do it are just hurting themselves and probably don't understand the license agreements PD made with manufactures most likely. Also your last line just adds so much to this thread I'm glad you came here to express that, it's as if you saw one post you didn't like and just read that then made your comment. How productive of you to not read the rest of the post and see all the others that did just that, only to have logical reasons as to why that attitude your sharing to be irrational.

You might want to go back and read those earlier post, wouldn't want you to be out of the loop.

Doesn't stop it from being great fun and a good feature.

Being able to paint your car was ripped of from some game a long time ago and is easy to implement, but you don't moan about that do you?

I agree thats how most things evolve...taking the best attributes. I was saying there was not much new content for me in Forza 4 to justify a purchase. Many people have never experienced something like autolog so they see it as a plus for a purchase but I have NFS HP and so it added nothing to my justification towards a purchase.

Also copying is perfectly fine...not carbon copies...but the general idea but I do not like it when devs proclaim the idea to be theirs and disregard the original creator.

Try to name a console game please. Your clearly naming MMO's which are expected to have regular updates to keep their fanbase from paying the subscription. So until you name a console game that has had over 14 patches in one year, or even better a racing game, it stands clear that GT5 has received support like no other game.

Burnout Paradise. Bam.

Rivals is a rip off from Autolog from NFS and is not hard to implement.

Not hard to implement huh? Where is a similar feature in GT5 then? It STILL doesn't have basic static leaderboards after a year of updates let alone anything dynamic like Rivals or Autolog.

Burnout Paradise. Bam.

:ouch: However, they did only have six updates, albeit some of them being considerably game changing like day-night cycle and bikes.

That further shows how rare it is for devs to do that: 2 games out of what 30+

Off topic: But has anyone else noticed the holiday music before entering the GT life screen. It's I wish you a merry christmas. Thought it was a nice holiday touch.

It's a good thing the average PD artist, modeller and programmer are japanese. If they were english and were to stumble on to this website i think they would be pretty demoralised by the things said about them on here.

Being here in short space of time i noticed that the complainers and the whiners tend to bigup/defend/praise whatever you wanna call it forza. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. But it begs the question yet again. If forza is the pinnacle of your driving simulation, then what are you doing in GT5 section moaning about GT in the first place?

The answer is quite obvious but i don't think our resident moaners would admit to it.

Because believe it or not it's possible for some people to enjoy both games and want them both to be the best they can.

+1 This is what I am talking about. Its alright to praise Forza in a GT thread but a mention of criticism leads to these people getting sorely upset or replying with a criticism towards GT.

Then when you question them....they say....well I am not biased at all I like both games....when it is clear from their comments that they are mostly praising the other game and criticising GT. As they say actions speak louder than words.

Not that I disagree, but the bold does not prove that GT5 is really equal to or better than Forza and the posters are biased. It is possible that GT5 is not as good as Forza. I'm not taking a side here, just saying that what you have posted here is not a proof for them being biased as you claim. It is proof that they can come up with more criticisms of one or the other, but if they are legitimate, they are not biased.

You are giving a +1 to someone who responds to nearly every criticism given about GT5 by saying some variation of "at least it's better than Flopza," despite never having touched the game. Not the most impartial of sources to make such a statement.

rFactor.

And supporting the game for so long, mostly (but not entirely, admittedly) adding stuff to the game that it never should have released without, isn't the amazing thing of praiseworthiness it is being implied to be when it never should have been released in that state in the first place. Those patches and content are there to rebuild trust and goodwill in PD and the series after GT5 1.0 destroyed both for many.

Don't get me wrong: It is really nice that PD is fixing the problems with GT5. But it isn't as if they are doing it just because they want to be nice. They need to do it to prevent the series' image from being tarnished.

I said console game clearly but Im afraid you have beaten to it. Burnout Paradise as someone else said :)

You said it yourself....they do not want the GT series' name to be tarnished i.e they care about their reputation and what their fans think about it.👍

I've been very happy with what they've been doing for us. A bit more would be great, but don't get me wrong - I'm loving these updates.

Happy Holidays!

I think much of the frustration expressed by the GTP community is rooted in what is arguably poor communication from PD. Have yet to see a single post from anyone associated with GT development team here. Sure, there's second and third hand tweets and such, but that's not the same. And decisions like removing a large chuck of some of the most liked content, i.e., seasonal events, tend to affirm the sense that no one is listening.

I don't expect them to suddenly start posting here but I think a proper blog written by them and translated by one of the English staff would be great. When I say a blog I don't just mean one that publishes the update log, I mean a personal blog where they talk to the fans, tell them what they're doing and why. In 2011 and the modern digital, online world I see no reason for a games developer to be as silent as PD are.

Actually I just noticed they do have a blog on the site - http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/blog/

Two entries two years ago, neither about the game. 👎

Which is not proof that they want to do the right thing or that they are admitting they goofed. Protecting the brand is, at its core, a business decision. Devoid of any commentary speaking to the subject, it is a far leap to say that they care what "fans" think beyond what they have in their wallets.

At first, I felt similarly. However, what did we really lose? Ferrari at Sarthe to grind on? How many times did you really replay those seasonals? And don't you think adding a ticket for golding all the seasonals that are there is a pretty good trade-off?

Some folks say they are disappointed and point out the game was not complete when it came out, and that all of these are mere fixes to a broken game rather than expansion/improvements to a overall good game. To a point were PDs name is being tarnished, and yet a year later they are still here. Words and actions don't seem to be in sync.

When i realized that i did not like games like F**za (including xb*x) and Sh*ft they all went back to the store withing a few weeks or a few days.

Maybe we have a few folks in denial.

Merry Christmas.

There were quite a lot of useful seasonals that got cut, for one the only Ferrari F1 race. There were a few others that were good for using different cars in but now they're gone I forget their names.

As for the last point no they aren't a good trade off, I can't race in tickets last time I checked.

There are no other ways to race those same cars against the AI anywhere else in the game (Foresaking the F1 race, which I have a feeling we may find out has more to do with PD's licensing agreement with Ferrari than it does a conscious choice to ditch it.)? As for your second point (wisecrack), you do realize that those tickets can be cashed in for cars, right? And remind me what it was you got before for golding all races in a seasonal, because I forget.

I have to imagine most of the people who joined the forum in the time leading up to GT5's release that were disappointed in GT5 are no longer here, no; or at the very least no longer bother posting in this forum anymore. Seems like everything is in sync to me.

It takes effort to miss the point that much.

In the A-Spec mode? No, there isn't. Sure I can set up similar races in the arcade mode but that doesn't earn me credits or experience.

As for my last point yes it was a bit wisecrack but all I meant is a prize ticket doesn't replace an organised race event, they're too completely different things. That's akin to saying it's ok if they remove a track completely so long as they add 20 cars in it's place.

Are you kidding me? After 2 years on gtplanet I have yet to meet one ungrateful person. Some people claiming things that are not true, but ungrateful?

Battlefield Bad Company 2.

You are also flying completely blind regarding whether a race in arcade mode will be similar to an A-Spec Event/Seasonal, because the AI is practically randomized in comparison.

Be patient, I am sure the seasonals will proliferate again. At their current rate, we could see the same amount of seasonals within the next few months.

And for the record, I am most certainly do not endorse the bold. Perhaps it is my trader mentality rearing it ugly head again.
