Why is there no classification system for the cars in this game?

Forza class system is severly broken. Ford GT a class A but the clunky boat handling Saleen S7 is in a hire class? GTFOH. physics broken in that game too. Evo understeers when fully tunes? again GTFOH. Forza sucks. Even the harshes reviews and critics of GT5 all agree on one thing. Its the best console racing sim yet and has the best physics yet. Tha'ts the part of the game I care about. If you cant use self controll and need your hand to be held through a game, thats your business, but dont fault the developers for your personal issue becausethats exactly what it is.

Lol, ok kid. You're right, the game's perfect. Does wittle timmy feel all better now?

Yeah it´s one of the big missing things in GT5... We´ve had it in GT5P and I found it great...

In most races, I check the competition and then choose an slower car, so I made my own challenges... But it takes a few tries and sucks when you got to go back to the menu, take another car and reload the event again...

So some events are fun if you choose a good car wich is a bit slower than the fastest in the event...

But you don´t even get more money or more level up points for your efforts... I agree, GT5 feels like an game from 2005 in many points...

Only the special events and the license tests are challenging...

Physics and graphics are fantastic but the rest feels really old... Maybe they need some new developers to get some new ideas...

Even though I´m an GT fanboy, I must say, T10 did their jobs very well and it´s possible that FM4 will blow everything away... They got innovative ideas...

It's nice to see someone here who is capable of being objective. The thing people here can't seem to understand is that just because something has faults doesn't mean that it's not still good. Does the game need to be perfect for everyone to enjoy it? I mean, despite its (many) faults, I am still having fun playing GT5 - it's a fun game. But, it isn't perfect, and lying to yourself, or blinding yourself from the truth, is just silly. Anyway, I just hope that turn 10 don't go too far with the kinect implementation in the game.

IMHO, motion control is stupid and gimicky, aimed at the wii crowd with no place in real gaming. It's a big market, and I understand the need for sony and microsoft to diversify, but keep it confined to the kiddie games and keep it out of the real games, because all it does is take up valuable processing power and adds unnecessary programming time (delaying release dates) for a feature that nobody really wants anyway.

I want a points system for offline play also. It's hard to get my car setup just right so that they are competitive races. I get sick of adding a little power, then starting the race just to see I didn't add enough, then I quit, go back out and add something else just to see I went to far and now I'm smoking the AI cars.

I really liked how GT4 would give you the PP score at the end. If you picked a much better car then everyone else your PP score was really low, but if you went with something equal then you could get like 150 or something. You didn't win anymore money, or get any trophys, but at least you felt like you ran a good race.

In all honesty I would rather race all one make races then to keep having to try and guess how fast to make my car.

I have no case? Wow. For starters, we aren't talking about online, we are talking about career mode. But, the point still applies to the online mode, as a more intricate balancing system would result in much more competitive racing then the current restrictions system.

But then again, maybe you're right - races with no restrictions that make it all about having an overpowered machine rather than actual skill level is what racing is all about. That's why in real life, there are no regulations in sanctioned racing. Oh, wait...

Again, since some people don't read. GT5 is a game you can play your own way, they don't force much on you early on. You are giving criteria for a race and it's up to you to choose how you want to race, stock, fully modded or under powered. Instead of "you must use x car, with y hp and z weight". Every game I have played has done that to death. Game feels like 2005? Really? How so? Since back then they forced you to drive with rules laid out and you couldn't do a damn thing about it, how is giving you the option to choose how you want to have your enjoyment a bad thing? Some people don't know how good something is until it's taken away.

The PI system in FM3 was broken due to 4wd swaps, which for all cases makes no sense for most cars, 200+lbs weight increase results in nearly 50 point PI drop, then you tune back up to top PI and you'll smack around most cars in your class. Hence the leaderboards littered with AWD modded cars, you may find one or two rear wheel driven cars, but S class forget about it.

The PP system in Prologue would be good to add to online, but wouldn't be necessary in single player, since you are given freedom to rule your self, what you don't have such ability do you? You need to be told what to do, it's nothing to be ashamed of it's built into all humans the need to be led by someone greater than ourselves. Without it there would be anarchy, but in singleplayer there isn't anything wrong with freedom to make decisions. Try driving a comparable car to the competition if you dare and stop complaining that the game doesn't force you to play by arbitrary rules that border on being the same crap from 20 years ago.

Freedom of choice is becoming something that little actually understand and even less embrace...If you want a rule laden race come online someone will gladly setup a room with strict rules and restrictions and you will get your kicks there. Some of the races in single player were tough with a stock vehicle, because incidentally stock vehicles all perform the same and when the AI decides to drive perfectly, you won't win anyway you slice it.

To the guy above, you must not be paying attention to the usual suspects addition to GT5, before you enter a race you can check what cars you will most likely be up against, so this whole thing about needing PP in single player is made up, as you are given Hp, and weight as well as the name of the car.

I don't see your argument. PP in offline would just let people know the level of competition. Just because there is PP, doesn't mean that cars over X PP would be banned from the race.

All that's needed is PP as a guide, not as a restriction. Except online. Online, PP should be a limit if the host chooses to use it.

That's exactly what I want. Just something to give me an idea of how to make my car competitive. I don't want to be restricted, just let me know how fast to make my car without going overboard.

I know you can check the usual competition, but that doesn't give me any idea how the car I want to use would compete with them.

I really can't see how adding ratings for the cars without restriction races could do anything but help. I really can't see how this topic can be argued about. The only thing it would do is help people who actually want to have decent offline races. I didn't get the game to just cash farm by running the same big money race 50 times. I don't care if I own 10 or 1000 cars. I just want decent offline races like in other racing games, like dare I say forza, shift, or GT4 for that matter.
