Why kick X1's?!?

The topic is about X1s and we're talking about X1s. How is that off-topic? Now if i was to talk about school children getting shot, that would be off-topic! Have a nice day/evening.

I think the OP has had the answer to his question by now anyway. Off-topic or not we can discuss the naming of the X2010/2011.

Well if the OP has the answer to his question now, we'd better not continue contributing any further to the discussion. Heaven forbid we get accused of thread-bumping!? :scared:

Kicking the X1 is the closest most of us will ever get

2 points.

1 nick·name:
A familiar name given to a person or thing instead of or as well as the real name.

2 precedent:
an example or instance used to justify later similar occurrences

The thing is known as an X1,always has been always will be:tup:

First up, the car is called an X2010. Not X1. The game has been out long enough now for people to get a grasp of such a basic thing as the games most controversial vehicles name.

X1 refers the the fact that is of a higher performance level than F1. As a whole they are X(experimental) 1(top of class). The x201(0/1) is the model.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands of guys that can drive them very well actually.

This. I might be one of them, since I never ram with my X1 (except if some Fiat 500 driver has asked me to send him flying :p).

I'll ask them "hey, do you mind if I cruise in my X1", where I'm usually told "yeah sure NP".

+9.001 👍 That's what I do too.

I only enter free run rooms in my X1 if:

  • the host is AFK (which means I can't get kicked AND I repeat, I don't ram, so there's no reason for anyone to call a reject vote on me)

  • there are some players ALREADY on the track in their X1s (which means it's allowed to use it)

There are a lot of "younger" Kids who like to use it in lobby's were everyone is cruising, and eventually he will start ramming people.
Of course there are a lot of people who can drive X1's.

I will admit that I don't care for the X1's ridiculous over-the-top nature. But I also admit it has a certain super-intense fun and appeal. I've had lots of fun online with a group of clean racers, all running X1s at Daytona, 10-15 lap races over and over... till I got burned out and went back to "normal" race cars, which felt like time was slowed down compared to the X1. Anyway I guess the X1 has its place in the game, and it's pretty amazing, but should only be raced against other X1s. Racing it against any other car, even the FGT, is totally unfair.

Nearly everyone hates the X1. Even if you're in a lobby dedicated strictly to cruising, you'll run the risk of getting kicked if you use the X1. You really have to find the right people if you want to use your X1 online. Oh, and don't use it when you're racing against a bunch of stoned dumbarses driving Formula GTs, that's a lesson I've learned the hard way. :P

I'm getting tired of reading this.

The X1 was the original name given to the car.

For whatever reason, the name was CHANGED BY PD to the X2010.

All of this talk about "X means Experimental and 1 means top of the class" is all complete nonsense. The original name of the car simply was X1, and the reason that there was the added 2010/11" was more than likely to avoid legal conflict with the BMW X1.

Either way, it doesn't matter. X1 or X2010, people in GT5 will know what you're talking about.

For us in the USA, take this example. The president is Barack Obama. But do you refer to him every time as that? Or do you simply just call him "Obama" or "The President"?

The true and formal and correct name is the X2010/11, but even if you just say X1, it doesn't matter too much in the world of GT5.

Now that this has been clarified, bickered over, and discusses far more than necessary, can we please end this talk of the name?

In the end, it doesn't matter. X1 or X2010/11, in the end it's still the fast car made out of ridiculous numbers that's basically unbeatable, and the addition/exclusion of 3 letters should really not cause this much uprest.

Most of you are presumably mature adults, so I'd desperately hope that you all can realize how pointless the arguing over this name is and just get on with what the topic of this thread truly is about.

Do you know this thread is a month old??

Just saying.

Really High Pitched engine noise. Usually the people who drive them wreck everyone. and usually there unbeatable.

Edit: Crap Bump ._.

People often kick X1's because they pull assumptions out of their asses that the driver is trying to troll.

=/ It's not a bad thing you're contributing to the thread with meaningful information. It's always better to contribute to an existing thread than to make a new one 👍

Why is it complete nonsense? X in general is used to describe something experimental and the X1 is essentially an experimental car.
It is indeed simply called X1 (or at least originally) but there could be a reason as to why they used an X and a 1 couldn't it?
Seems more logical to me at least (and they were forced to change it for legal reasons, but not due to BMW if I remember correctly) than just using meaningless letters and numbers.

I call him Barry.

Yes I agree but what I'm sorta getting at is that no matter how the name originated or what it means or anything, it shouldn't cause such a big argument. I can understand some debate about the name but really it doesn't matter. Call it X1 or X2010, anybody from GT will understand what you're talking about.

Please excuse the double-post, but back on topic...

As a host, it is highly annoying when someone joins with a far superior car such as the X1. Often we use the same car with unrestricted pp, to avoid detuning. If you can see that everyone is using the same car you don't need to be that intelligent to figure out that you're expected to use the same car as well. It's common-sense.

That said, if you take it out during free-run i probobably would warn you first, but if you leave it till i've started the race to go to your garage and make it to the grid in the X1, you would definitely get kicked because the fact that you wouldn't get on the track before i started the race tells me you know i'll disallow it. Not to mention that i'd have to declare a red flag and restart the race.

As a host, if i've done this 20 times in an afternoon, one can understand why i might get sick of repeating the obvious and just kick straight away.

Not generally a good idea bumping old threads :)

It's not that old! :P

Yeah sure, then gtplanet signs me out in the process and i have to type it out all over again, only to have the same occur!

Please, don't be so petty and contribute to something i was actually saying...something that's relavent to the topic!

He's contributing something meaningful to the thread, therefore the bump is perfectly okay.

Double posting however isn't the greatest thing to be doing 👍 there's no excuse for it.

I've been signed out of GTP (as well as other places) while posting quite a few times. When you constantly post mini-novels it happens a lot. If your wireless tends to drop and reconnect occasionally that can cause problems too. When I think about it I do copy things before I submit them. However, there's still no reason not to edit your posts if it's only been a few minutes, since the old post will stay the same untill you update it.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if the rule is to not double post unless it's been over an hour OR you have something substantively different to add, or if it is to not double post unless it's been over an hour AND you have something substantively different to add. Of course, some people(not saying it's anyone involved here :) ) seem to think the rules are: never double post even if it's been six years and a completely different topic, never bump a thread more than a day old, and never start a new thread even if the old thread is six years old and based on a slightly different topic.

Ok, I checked the FAQ and it's "OR." I got the "over an hour" bit from a moderator's post a while back, the specific language is "a reasonable amount of time." Thread bumping is only stated to be a problem problem if it is done for no particular reason or just to keep the thread visible. In general, the regular users of the site seem to be much more critical of both things than the mods ever are.
