Do you want Top Gear Test Track back?

  • Total voters

Make a poll, I'm sure the vast majority of us want it back, even if its not really suitable for racing, but for testing cars is a great track.

I would exchange it for the (IMO) completely useless Goodwood hillclimb track.

I say yes for bringing back the TG Test track. Despite it's "invisible walls" and various other stuff, you could actually compare your laptime against the trio and/or The Stig.

Whats so bad about the invisible walls?

GT Replay "Camerah" is far from garbage. It just not realistic in broadcast sense, its more of artistic.

In the TGTT case though, not having broadcast camera is very disappointing as fans of Top Gear likely to compare it to the TV. Im more disappointed on how PD doesn't even feature standing start.

That's a matter of opinion, and mine is they are garbage. While you watch TGTT and would like replicated angles, I watch races on many tracks and I'd like the same thing ;) I don't like any of the "artistic" angles they look more autistic.

Well ok because your previous post sounds like all GT replay camera angles are rubbish since you put "GT always have garbage cameras"

Also keep the "a" word out of unrelated forum. This isnt 4chan or ensyclopedia dramatica. Not really offended but other people will.

Okay, I've added a poll for the thread.
Also in the last seasonal event for gt5. There's 2 time trials, one is nurb with the Nissan gt-r and the other ones is mazda me mx5 on tgtt. Why they choosed tgtt?

Because it was the last time they could use it for the foreseeable future.

It's annoyed me because autistic in that sense was clearly meant as a synonym for the derogatory meaning of retarded. In creative fields (like video games) autistic is more likely to be a synonym for showing great attention to detail. 'Cause, you know, that's what we do if we're interested in our field.

Kaz doesn't know what he wants... that is part of the problem.

Actually, I somewhat agree with this. Kaz seems to show the same mentality as the managers and other stockers at the store I used to work at. That is, it's better to do a lot of things badly than it is to do a few things well. They have SuperGT... with the vast majority of their SGT cars being GT500 and either from recent seasons or from the late 1990s/early 2000s (though the gap might not actually be that big). And the majority of the premiums are from recent seasons. In addition, at least a couple SGT tracks are missing as well... Sugo and Autopolis come to mind.

Or NASCAR. We have NASCAR... or at least, two NASCAR tracks (neither of which is Sears Point/Infineon/whatever it's called now, which was in GT4 and Tourist Trophy before PD got the NASCAR license, and still with only 16 cars on track at a time), some NASCAR race cars (all from the Car of Tomorrow era, and no Dodges), and a fairly weak NASCAR championship.

Or the car list in general, which has historically displayed a heavy JDM bias, and has some glaring (at least to muscle-car-obsessed me) omissions. When you consider only premiums, it gets even worse... the car list could be said, in many ways, to not have the appearance of a cohesive whole. Customization is even more half-hearted in some ways than it was in GT5, and there is still no livery editor. Perhaps it's not quite that bad, as there are a lot of classic muscle cars in both standard and premium form, but I consider it unlikely that we will see many more premium cars that are neither certified classics nor the latest and greatest.

That's how I feel, the camerah angles in GT suck. I'd like the angles closer to how they actually are at the tracks for the sane reason some wanted the camerah angles at TGTT to be more like in the Show. IMO the GT camerah angles are all garbage.

Was that not politically correct? Ive never been good at that

But...Madrid replay angles is epic IMHO.

Well, not in the public. In my older "dumb" days, at one time i am really mad I use the word in the some other public forums. It didn't go well and the thread was eventually locked with some members disgustingly namecalls me. Hopefully not in here though :D Its also not polite IRL unless its a very private conversation BTW.

I'll have to check out Madrid, I've not been there in a while, maybe I'll like them.

I'll keep that in mind, I was just kidding, but really I am terrible at the politically correct thing :D

I know :D but other people like can perceive other means.

Anyway back on topic, I really want to have all Reasonably Priced cars in GT7. But it seems that no racing games ever featured KIA except Forza. Is it an exclusive contract?

Dunno if its exclusive, maybe GT7 will get some, only recently have they been more than Daewoo or Geo status IMHO

It was a good car for me to hotlap and test car and settings on. But that's all it was ultimately good for, and if I want a decent track I'm familiar with for testing cars, I just go to Trial Mountain or one of the older circuits. I'd like to see it come back, but it's not gonna have that much of a bit affect on me honestly.

Waste of space.

You didn't call the Systems Alliance? Pretty sure they'd want to know.

No God-Calling? I thought he can give a nice thunder attack?

I'd like TGTT back :) Always enjoyed 'pretending' to be on Top Gear doing a power lap in whatever car I liked at that moment :)

Altough it was a bit annoying the timing/start-finish wasn't alligned properly with the line on the road making 'diy' standing starts a bit of a pita... Also the camera angles were pretty bad, some too zoomed out or you'd have to wait too long for the car to enter the shot or it took too long for the angle the switch when the car left the shot (GT6 still has this on various tracks). Also the lap invalidation was a bit harsh, but it forced me to do better, although it could sometimes frustrate the crap out of me...

Overall I'd really want it back.. Either as TGTT or a random name if licencing is an issue and preferably with a nice 'facelift' as in better trackside objects (the plane(s) in GT5 looked awful), and maybe a bit more 'open', no (or less) invisible walls, longer runway (more of it modeled to be used) etc.

"Called my mom."

That's the one I was looking for...

No, they are only placed at the beggining of the grass. They dont interfere with the layout of the track. They just dont allow you to run off into the grass field.
Running off into the grass a bit is much better than slamming into an unexpected invisible wall. I'd like those walls to leave, and hope every new track to GT will follow Willow Springs' example. The walls aren't the only problem, the invisible lap invalidation boundaries need to be pushed back a fair bit. I'm sure most of us can recall accidentally ruining a lap by driving outside of the arbitrarily defined track, especially on straights leading to hairpins.

Besides, removing the walls will make it so much easier for the disgruntled Saudi youth to enjoy their drift deathmatch lobbies.

It was a figure 8 track, and even still a window was open to take a massive shortcut without nullifying the lap or race. The invisible walls and such were an attempt to reduce that as much as possible, the window was still found, but without the walls, probably would of been an open garage door lol

It is what it is, TGTT is gone, & not coming back anytime soon. I'll take a Premium or at least updated Standard Supra any day over TGTT returning. Just seems so down on the priority list for me. If it were to come back, unless masively updated it would just PO people more than generate praise.

Well, the thing is, you are not supposed to leave the track and mess around. If you can drive wll, you should keep the car on track without much difficulty.
Anyway I've seen several people complain about willow springs being no invisible walls so when you get off-track you can go far away and lose so much time. People will always complain no matter what

Dammed if the do & dammed if they don't. Its more like people look for anything to complain about, it appears as though some just want to complain no matter what, as if complaining makes them look cool. Its the exact opposite in my view, what's that thing we call complainers around where I'm from?

Didn't notice it was gone until now. Certainly not too fussed about it coming back or not coming back. If they wanted it back, it surly would have been quicker and easier than adding in new tracks.

I'd love to see the TGTT come back. Ideally, with lots of Top Gear content. I'd still love it even if it was just called Dunsfold Airfield. I agree that races with large numbers caused problems but I enjoyed testing on it.
Now I use Goodwood for testing as it's very quick for finding out if your tuning has made any improvements.

I want that track too because it is the perfect track for free running, drifting, and dragging too. I guess people don't want it because they see red bulls on that track.
