My 1st thread so be gentle...:dunce:

I'm A-Spec Level 38
All Licenses Gold
S. Vettal Gold
20million credits
All LMP, Group C, X2010, Ferraris, Lambos etc.

Tell me why I should B-Spec? Frankly I don't see the point. Tried one race and said Meh, not my thing. I play GT5 to drive, not collect points.

It's not just to collect points, (there aren't even points to gain in GT5...) in b-spec you it's the point that you can manage your own racing "team" and win races with them and also unlocking cars and winning prizes. But i know what you mean, i'm not a B-Spec fan either so i'm just racing in a-spec too. Only doing B-Spec for extra money and unlocking cars.

Loads of other prize cars.

Although the only reason I do b-spec is because I get enough exercise from shouting and making signs:ouch:

It was much better in GT4:indiff:

OP, Yeah I don't see a point in it either, the effort they spent putting bspec together could hv better allocated to something else (ie. more aspec content)

Bobs have emotional issues, so if pd wanted to simulate managing your own racing team then they got a long way to go.

Their prize cars suck and is of nearly zero added value, except for the furai and toyota 7 most others can be bought in dealerships or ucd.

Thanks GT, I get your point but I have no interest in managing a team of "bobs" for prizes. As for cars, I've got more of those than I know what to do with already.
As I said, I enjoy GT5 for the driving experience.

Oh yeah, you get prize cars from progressing through B-spec and some of them are very good. Good call zedextreme8177.

From your stats and self assessment, B-Spec is probably not for you. According to PD, "Players who find the difficulty level of A-spec to be challenging can use B-spec mode as a way to see what the game has to offer, providing potentially an easier path to beat the game." I accept that I'm not gonna drive those races long Endurance races, nor would my wife let me :dopey: For instance, until in game saves are added, I'm not gonna attempt to do the 24 Le Mans. Not for me. But, I still get the credits and game ending by letting my B-Spec drivers do those races.

B-Spec mode also gives me a different challenge which I enjoy. I compare B-Spec to Fantasy Football or Baseball. You pick your players, set your lineup, and see how they do each week :)

I see myself drifting towards online racing leagues to continue enjoying the game rather than doing long races.

Well, if you just want to completely shoot down everyone's reason to drive b-spec, even though you asked, then tell us why you asked???

Thanks xonant, great explanation and analogy. Only confirms my opinion further of B-Spec not being for me.

I asked because I know a lot of people here spend a great deal of time B-Specing and I wanted to see if I'm missing anything.
So far I'm not sold. You have anything positive to contribute or just here to stir the pot?

Yep, for me it's a combination of prize cars and making money while I'm busy doing other things.

^this

I have started races in b-spec and gone outside and mowed the yard, washed the car etc.

I have started the endurance races right before bedtime. I wake up in the morning and have earned XP and credits I can spend the credits on rebuilding the cars I use most in a-spec.

In the beginning I monitored (coached) the drivers. Now I don't do that at all. I even run races from work ;) like right now! I return home to more credits to spend on the cars I want to drive in a-spec.

I'd estimate that less than 5% of players play B-Spec for pure fun (i.e. race for the thrill of it, no prizes).

That being said, it's addicting. Here's my experience with B-Spec:
"Let me try B-Spec."
"This is boring."
"I'm think I'm done with B-Spec, but I'll check the prize car list online."
"Oh cool, I'll get the Furai and be done with it"

Next few months-
"I'll get the ... and be done with it"

And now I'm level 37.

Since you have the money and cars you want, I'd highly recommend that you avoid B-Spec mode, it's a waste of time and is addicting.

Basically you get more prize cars and allows you to earn credits while you are doing something else. If you'd rather be playing then I suggest you to not try it.

I said the exact same thing after I first checked out B-spec. To me it's about as interesting as watching somebody else play.

But, like someone just said, I found the prize car list and saw there were a lot of cars that I thought I would enjoy driving (and I was right.) I went through the boredom and frustration of getting Bob leveled up and "de-moron-ed" so he can run without my intervention. Now I just use him to grind out credits in endurances (or using the widget) while I'm asleep or at work. Then I can buy more cars to enjoy driving.

I got to level 6 before I got bored out of my mind. If I need cash, I have a rubber band, a keyboard, and an X2010 that are way faster and more automated than Bob. Not saying I won't go back someday in the future and check it out, but I'm much more about driving than watching.

I did it and finished it all, due to the fact that it is part of the game and counts towards 100% completion.
I dont see the point of buying a game and not playing and finishing it in its entirety.

Good point there.

To get stuff for almost free...

More Credits
More prize cars
More lvl tickets
More % of the game advanced

Totally disagree on so many levels. To each there own.

You will meet players from all around the world, in remote racing. Its nice to make some friends. Thats what being a community is all about. If you signed up for GTPlanet you obviously want to interact in some way with other players. B-Spec would be a great start!

At A-32, I was at B-5(dormant). I wanted cash without resorting to cheating, so I learnt about B-Remote Racing, added a bunch of strangers to my friends list, and I went from B-5, to B-35 in two weeks time from doing: Nothing. I now occasionally pick and choose some B-spec events to win a car here and there, again, not knowing what the event will win me. I also did some B-Endurance overnight with the TV Off, Bob using the X2010 that I won, and the rewards for B-Endurance has got to be the most embarassing and misunderstood, I mean only 180K credits and virtually no XP for 9 hours Tsubuka?! I will just get to B-40 remotely, and continue to rake in 1 Million / 24 hours, again, by doing: Nothing. I will just enjoy driving miscellaneous cars, and hope to learn to tune a bit better, and just master the Nur from here on forth. That and race the FGT event over and over.

I anxiously await a massive Expansion pack for GT5, for it is a rare game out there, with this much immersion and replayability factor.

Obviously we all play GT5 for various reasons. Some feel the overwhelming need for completion. Others need to collect every car available, Still others just want to race their friends online etc etc. As for me, at level 38 and owning all the cars I need (save for the elusive '92 Nissan Group C) My ultimate goal is a 1:50.00 @ Eifel in the F2007. Not with bob, but with Rob (me) at the (virtual) wheel... :)

You should b-spec cause it's great. You will be rewarded with x2010 at level 35 b-spec. That's a good enough reason alone:-)

I get it, you love b-spec, but that's not good enough for me. I have won and I own 3 X2010s, how many does one need? As stated in the OP and many times since. I'm in GT5 for the driving experience, anything that enhances that, I am very interested in.

More cars & prizes? Meh.

More Ferrari F1 races? Abso-freaking-lutely 👍
