Second, creating a live and vibrant "community" was obviously one of the main focuses while designing community-goals of GT5.
Suppose you did have a system where you could buy paint chips from a separate paint shop.
What would determine how much certain paint costs? would matte be more epensive than color shift? Or does it deopend on the car & company it came from?
Which is possible now, yet does not happen.-Because without a chip system there would be garages filled entirely with color-shift, gold chrome, or black cars.
RGB slider and a few other options = every manufacturer paint ever. I didn't use it in Forza 3, but you could make any color you wanted, so GT5's is actually limited in that you can only have manufacturer paints given in game, where as a Forza system lets you have any manufacturer paint.-Because the colors manufacturers use are more intricate than something that can something that can be picked from a color wheel.
I don't particularly like it, but I think it's more interesting than the alternative (until we get a livery editor) and doesn't have the drawbacks. I don't want to race a room full of gold chrome cars.
Implying that that is an objective problem, or that people can't already do that now with barely any effort.-Because without a chip system there would be garages filled entirely with color-shift, gold chrome, or black cars.
