That's an opinion not a fact. And if that's all it is, you'd still be able to do fantasy racing if the saves were added. Just don't use the save feature.
I don't think anyone would disagree going to the hospital after hitting a wall 100+ mph, even though would be realistic, is not fun.

There is nothing hard about hitting the pause button and race the 24 hour race in a number of days. The only real difference between pause and mid-race save is you can turn off your PS3 which would save power and your PS3 hardware.

Its no use, he doesnt understand the concept of energy saving, or the concept of to each is own... the more options the game has for me the better even if I dont like using some of them... but this one in particular I think is very important, especially in terms of energy saving...

he asked «Why the hell do people want endurance-saves?» many people gave him alot of good valid answers... but still he wants everyone to feel the same as he does and that is just not possible... so Ill indulge him and say...

Youre right I dont want endurance saves (I want a SLIM all to myself because I have to share my FAT why my wife and kids :dopey: and free electricity) but guess what? the endurance saves are still going to happen...

Maybe if the OP knew the meaning of share and save... just maybe...

Edit: lets just hope the OP has a power failure 23h into is first endurance race :D :D :D

Having to race a 24 hour with pausing or saving is not fun. Some things that are realistic are not fun which is why developers tries to leave out some realism from games. Most of the fantasy tracks in games are fun but unrealistic because IRL those tracks would be too dangerous/ unsafe to race.

Whilst I hate to criticise a post that is disagreeing with the OP (in this instance) I have to say that the fun / sim / realism ratio is entirely subjective.

For example: Some people have suggested to me that having the AI crash you out in a racing game is not fun and a piece of realism they can do without in a racing game.

However for me that kind of AI reminds me of what it was like to race in the pathetic, unlicensed outdoor karting and quad bike events that I regularly used to partake in. Real opponents ARE aggressive, real opponents do crash into you and if you are really trying you also tend to crash into them occasionally. Not deliberately, but it happens because you are trying so hard, the margins are small and you desperately want to win. The difference is in real racing when you get it wrong it hurts a lot and you waste a lot of time in hospital

sorry about the following words - this is what I love about S2U.

I don't want to derail this thread into a flame war of S2U vs GT5 so if you want to debate this point please go to the Shift forum and send me a PM so I can find where you posted your objections

I've been reading through your (some aggressive) opinions.

What people are basically saying, is that the 24hr event, should actually be a series of 3/4 hour stints, to replicate what the driver actually has to do. Would be awesome if you could loose time due to damaging your car, but the AI would also have to do the same. Sadly gt5 is far of this stage at the moment.

Your thoughts?

I love R.S's idea of limited saves, would be the best way to impliment them if they are still going to be added.

Even if one-stint endurances races were realistic, GT5 still isn't remotely realistic enough in the first place to justify using that as an excuse to not have it.

I play the game to meet the real world as much as possible. That's just how I do things. Also that was not an excuse not to have it. That was a brief statement correcting someone who had posted about how not so hard it is to pause.

I don't think anyone would disagree going to the hospital after hitting a wall 100+ mph, even though would be realistic, is not fun.

I wouldn't expect a racing simulator to model that in the first place. You don't really add realism by adding random real life things to a simulator. Hospitals don't really effect the driving.

I while I agree that such a thing wouldn't have any entertainment value, it's still only my opinion.

I play the game to meet the real world as much as possible.

Then you should be against 24 hr races that let you drive for 24 hrs.
