It happened a long time ago I know, but why are there now only rolling starts?

I think you should have the option for a qualifying lap too.
that it could be to do with the frame rate capability of the PS3 and that on some starts, you would see stuttering of the picture.
I noticed this just yesterday.
10 Suzuki Swift on Spa. I was on the 8th position in the second race and there was definitely some stuttering as we were driving to eau rouge with 7 Swifts on the screen. I guess this would not happen with a rolling start.
On the other side, it doesnt make sense to keep the standing start in the online mode, if the reason would be the stuttering.
It should have standing starts,it looks better than rolling starts, its more fun than rolling starts, but its not realistic like rolling starts,I loved the good old gt3 starts
I think they removed it just to make offline races less easy, so you can't overtake all the A.I. before the first corner.
So you can't pass all the AI cars by the first corner in Clubman Cup using an X2010? You usually only pass a couple at most if running a competitive car, unless slipstreaming comes into play. Having standing starts also gives you the ability to have a MORE competitive race, by using a car that isn't several seconds per lap faster than the AI - especially when coupled with AI that doesn't park(that started around the same time I believe). Racing with a car for 5 laps is much more fun than spending 4.75 laps catching a "time-setter" and cruising past it in the last quarter-lap.
Even if that is the true reason, it's still not a good enough reason. Choppy framerate for the first ten seconds(which I never saw) isn't a good enough reason either.
I think A. Guy complained that he kept getting passed too easily by the players and knew someone important.
I could deal with rolling start in GT a little better if they were actually done correctly as well, that every car has to wait until it crosses the start line before going full throttle is just daft. The moment the first car crosses that line everyone should be able to go for it, as it stands its just silly.
However a return to standing starts would also highlight the issues GT5 has with cars launching off the line as well, because that's not particularly well done either.
Scaff
True.
It has been said before, but what would explain that standing starts still exist in online races?
