:thatsodd: Gee...Don’t tall me.
When I’m on the net the Mph to the Km/h really gets me upset sometimes. For instance when u NTSC people post our top speeds like at 300 Mph.
My first intention is to laugh at it and think, :o "Ah shame, I get like 470 no problem. What’s up with these people canted they set-up a car." But then I relays its in Mph and mine is in the PAL’s... Km/h!

Multiply it by 2.2 to get the answer. In your head, double it, then add 10% of the doubled number. Pretty quick once you get the hang of it.

MPH to KMH I can't do in my head.

Thanks! And welcome to GTP, by the way. Enjoy your stay.

For Km/h add 60.9 units

like this:

100 Mph = 160.9 Km/h
200 Mph = 321.6 Km/h
50 Mph = 80.4 Km/h

I have a Program called Master Converter works it ot for jou. Jou just sellect the uints and the scale.

so sad..... i wish the had only 1 version of GT3......
with the option to be able to switch beteween MPH and KPH... i wanna see my speeds in KPH!!!!

You can't use that while you are playing though :P and like I said for very 100 KPH take off 40 and that's MPH.

So 321.6 KPH using my method would give you 201.6 MPH pretty close and you can do that in a instant while playing :)

Sometimes for a very crude conversion method I just add half and change, so if I am going 50 + 25 = 75 (real number = 80)

I know that 186mph is 300km/h

But in the lower speeds, just adding half will get you close enough.

IMO, the world should just use the metric system - everything would be so much easier. i live in the States, and know just about no metric measurements, but i'm willing to learn if it's going to simplify international measurements. why not?

dude.....
americans don't go by metric standards in the game.....
they go by imperial *miles, Pounds* unless you have the PAL (Japanese) version of the game.....
cuz the US version uses Imperial.. not metric.. ;)
which for canandians.. is sad.. :(

Man, every measurement the USA uses is screwed.

For Celcius vs Ferenheit. In Celcius 0 is freezing point and 100 is boiling point. Doesnt that just make sense?

For km to miles, first of all, kh/h is more accurate and can be broken down into perfect increments. i.e. 1 km = 1000 Meters = 100,000cm etc.

Why would you have 1 mile = 5,280ft = 63,360 inches etc????

After about 4,000 years of using standard units of measure, couldnt the whole world be using the same units for God's sake?

As for the USA, it seems like a matter of 1 part national pride, 2 parts stubbornness.

Yet the PAL (European) version uses KPH/KG and I live in the UK where we use MPH/LB/KG.

All I want is to be able to see my speed in MPH, I think I might get the US version of the next game if the option is not included.

I live in Canada, where we use km/h but we get the US version of GT3 with MPH. How about I send you my CD and you send me yours?

WTF, I bought my GT3 @ walmart, and all my **** is in metric standards! how is that so? its walmart...all american all the time

I think in the PAL it is kg's and in the NTSC it is the pounds or whatever the system is...

But yep, just use a site or something if you want to convert the systems. :)

But thats the thing, if I had a PAL version of the game, I wouldnt be able to see crap (screen would flicker like nuts), plus my case says its NTSC anyways...

Thnx for the advice, but dont you think thatll get annoying after a while, jumping off (whatever you sit on to play) to your pc? nah :P
