This thread is to fantasize about wild "project" ideas that you would love to do, if you had the time/money/space, but will probably never come to frutition. (Any car nut has about 50 of these banging about in his/her head at any given time.) And to keep it at least somewhat grounded, try to cite at least one reason why this could easily be done with enough time and effort.

I'll start. Fourth generation (88-91) Honda Civic hatchback with the fwd drivetrain taken out and put where the back seat normally sits has been done (saw it in an import mag about 2 years ago). Thats cool, but what about putting a Northstar V8 drivetrain back there? Rear track on the civic is ~57", and the width of the Northstar dirvetrain is 61.8 in, so some fender flares would be needed. But still, 300 hp would be one heck of an improvement.

And an interesting note....the 500 ci cadillac drivetrain has a track width of 62.5 in...could this fit?

Ahh another Miata with two 13b engines one in the trunk and one in the hood for an All Wheel Drive Rotary terror on the street : )

How would you link the two manual trannies? Would a hydraulic clutch do it? Or, shame on you, would you go auto?

My idea is buy a nissan skyline r32 and do a pikes peak car of it. And then it would have about 850hp. It's just a dream. I hope some crazy japanese guy would do it to his r32 :) What a good idea

I know it sounds cheezy but I see many underrated vans/wannabe suvs that I could turn into nice "cruisers". I have an AE92 (toyota corolla sr5 2dr.) I'm not sure what engine but just change it to rwd. All my ideas would focus more about show more than go.

Take a Land Rover Defender, take the engine out the front and put something monstrous in the back. Fit wheelie bar. Drive the rear wheels only. Bake for 20 minutes, serve and enjoy.

Then, for an encore, fit a nitrous oxide kit to a tractor, to see what would happen.

How about a destructive project??? I wanna get a $100 beater and get it to top speed and throw it into reverse : )

How about an RSX Type S engine in an Insight (after removing hybrid system/battery packs/all that stuff)?

I got the engine : ) get me the car : )

Hmmm...I dont think Insights are going for real cheap yet....or ever will be....

Supercharged V6 Chevy S-10 drivetrain in a Chevette. Also a type-R sticker. Twisted fun. :)

Dukes of Hazzard - 👍

I'd love to see a 97+ Prelude converted to RWD with a Turbo I6 or a v8. I've always thought that they looked like RWD cars to begin with (long hood and front end, short rear).

My favorite "Wild Project" that I've seen is probably that v8 powered RWD Ford Focus. There's not much that comes close to the coolness of that kit.

^ Damn good idea.

I have seen LT1/LS1 powered Aleros and Grand Ams with RWD conversions. Apparently you need a lot of S-10 parts to make it work. Can't imagine what you have to do to the floorpan.

I was checking out MR2s today all over the place. . . I need to find one, I was thinking just a small block 305, due to weight issues.

That is the problem. . . trying to figure out what would work with the 305. . .

Some guy in Richmond BC actually has one of those:|.

My dad has one of those on his F150. Ill take a pic of it and post it. It's actually more like the duckes of hazard one except it only has 3 tones.

Take my truck, 2003 Blazer Xtreme.

-Take the ground effects off and put a Xenon kit on it.
-Paint the truck a champagin colour with black ghost flames.
-Cut in t-tops or a targe top for it
-Install airbags with a 3 inch body drop so I can lay frame.
-Put some nice rims on it, 18's or 19's
-Drop a supercharged 350 in the truck, more then likely, a LS1
-Redo the interior with black leather and black tweed.
-And finally put a bigger sound system in it.

Either that or buy something like a Pinto and drop a 305 in it. That would be sweet.

Why go for that? My destructive project dream is to fit a beater with radio controls, take it out to the desert, and have it drive around while we shoot at it!

For a serious project, I'd like to take an old Z and drop a small block in it.

i want to take a sc300 and drop a 2jzgte and a supra six speed, i plan on doing this when i get money, that and a datsun with the a 383,lol maybe with a blower
