Just wondering if this installment of the series will be available as a download rather than disc ( don't like disc's )
Cheers

It think it will, GTAV was, so there's no logical reason to think GT6 wouldn't.

It's Rockstar what do you expect they've got all their games on there.
If GT6 was gonna be available to buy in the store they'd be advertising that it is gonna be. Just saying

I didn't expected GTA to be in the Store. I thought it was too big to have it working properly without a disk.

Sounds unlikely. Such a big installment. And the PSN servers will eventually end, so I don't see any reason for it being available through PSN.

Psn servers end ? I thought psn was carrying over to the ps4 ? Wasn't it said somewhere that people who had the digital content of gt6 on the ps3 would get a discount if the game cross platformed to the ps4 ?

Yes, as they do also with Battlefield or Call Of Duty, but GT6 won't be available for PS4.

This only means there will not be a PS4 version of GT6 (think of Assassin's Creed IV or Watch_Dogs), not that it will not be playable on PS4 (the stuff they talked a while ago about making PS3 games playable on the PS4 with GAIKAI).

So there's still a chance to play those games on PS4 (when Sony release the system for that...)

As much as I like having physical copies of games, I'd really like to have this game on my system ready to go at all times, and reading from the faster HD rather than a disc.

Then if/when an XL version hits I could go for that--that would be better for my shelf anyway since it'll have more patches and DLC for when I want to play this 15 years from now when PSN probably won't be available for ps3.

Yes, but we were refering to get a full PS4 GT6, as if it was a new game :)

I was referring from the start (The End of the PSN server comment), since the game being in the PSN, it could be used by GAIKAI. rReally have no clue how this will work, but they said they would make a lot of games from PSN available that way, without we needing to buy them again if we already own the digital version if it, so even the current PSN servers aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

As a side note: even games no longer available on PSN like Outrun Arcade, can still be downloaded by those who bought them in the past, so it is still in the PSN server, just not for purchase, same goes with MotorStorm Pacific Rift patches and DLC I believe (but the game became extremely glitchy after the servers went out, because it had a ton of online stuff that didn't got patched to stop searching for the server... leading to infinite loops of server search..)

Regardless, I think I should have quoted the other post along with the one I quoted..

Just like gta5, GT6 even if it does come out on PSN may perform worse than the disc version, due to the lack of double streaming from HDD and blu-ray.

I think that Playstation exclusive games doesn't go into PSN. GTA V is a multi-platform game...
Huh?? BS, Last of US, God of War, and many others were up for pre-order and available day 1....... Don't comment if you don't know what you are talking about.

In 2013, it should be, digital sales are growing every year.

It think it will, GTAV was, so there's no logical reason to think GT6 wouldn't.

Content licencing for things contained in GT6 could easily be a roadblock for digital sales of the game. The fact that GT6 has a bunch of retailer-exclusive preorder bonuses might also have something to do with it.

...uhh... PSN isn't going down until the PlayStation brand goes down as a whole. There isn't a PSN for every system, it's a universal marketplace/online service for all PlayStation and PlayStation-related hardware, like iTunes. The only thing going down are the online portions of games - they run through PSN, but they aren't PSN themselves.

Content licensing has nothing to do with it, otherwise GT PSP would never have had a digital version. Neither does preorder bonuses, as you still have to enter the code on the PS Store to redeem them.

I'd guess that PD doesn't want to go the digital route with their big game, as not everyone has access to internet on their consoles and that would cut out potential sales of the game.

Interesting, since neither GTPSP (nor GT5: Prologue, which was also on PSN) are GT5 or GT6, so I'm curious to know how you can claim such a thing. Gran Turismo TV also wasn't featured in GTPSP; and that is such a landmine of potential licencing issues that even the fact that it was in Prologue may hold no relevance to whether it can be in "real" GT games if they were offered digitally.

That's also ignoring the fact that I was providing examples of things which might prevent a digital release of the title, as opposed to stating that there is no reason that there isn't one being done.

Except my actual point was that the retailers (who presumably have some sort of financial agreement with Sony to provide those exclusive benefits for preordering from them) may very well object to Sony undercutting them by providing the game on PSN anyway, causing Sony to decide that it's not worth the ire it may draw.

Though, again, merely an example of something that could have caused Sony to keep the game off of PSN rather than definitively stating the case either way.

I know, but I meant the PSN servers for PS3. But of course, I might be wrong. Just stated something I've heard before.

I highly doubt it will be on the PSN store.

That would be one huge download... I rather buy the hard copy :P

What I would like is that PD releases GT2 on the PSN. That would be a dream come true. I know that the licensing of some manufacturers and models might be expired though, and that's why they haven't done it. But it's nice to wish.

I wish they make a "Down Memory Road" package. With all Pre-GT5 games packed into one box, working on PS3 and/or PS4..

I think sometime after the release. If it does come out day one as a download, I hope the ppl that elect to download don't get screwed like the people that downloaded GTA. I think the servers couldn't handle it, but that was GTA...crazy launch. This game, sure the servers could handle it.
