WILL GT7 SELL

Has GT6 been an unmitigated disaster though? 2.5 million compared to 10 million for GT5 makes it look that way but how many of those 10 million sales were as a result of the game being bundled in with a PS3? I only got GT5 because I was buying my son a PS3 for Christmas and went for a bundle with a shooter, a football game and a driving game. GT6 came out at the end of the PS3's life so there would have been very few sales from bundles. I'd be very surprised if PD were expecting GT6 to sell anything like as many as GT5.
I doubt it would come near to balancing out, but remember GT6 is selling 3 at a time to some folks and how many of that 2.5mil includes exchanges as pointed out so many times on this site? How many millions of homes worldwide have a PS3? Not even 3 million discs sold has got to be a disappointment.

You may be right, but GT6 is only selling to fans of the series. There were 80 million PS3s sold and GT5 was one of the most commonly bundled games. That must have had some impact on the sales figures.

It might have done but still, if sales figures are to be believed they're easily the lowest of any main entry, lower than even GT5 Prologue. Bundles or not, sales are not great for GT6, the fact it was put on sale at nearly half price or lower just a couple of months after release shows this.

Assuming 7 will be on the PS4, it will sell and do better sales than GT6. This is also assuming that the dev team is inspired by the challenge of titles such as Project Cars, and even further improved physics as iRacing. I'd pay for an alpha!

Although GT6 has it's issues, I still feel it is one of the best GT games in the series.
It's definitely in the top 6 as far as GT games go.

iRacing does NOT have the best physics and GT7 will not be anywhere near iRacing levels.

GT7 is going to have to be VERY special for me to buy it. There will need to be vast improvments in: Sound, AI behaviour, offline career mode, car list diversity, and promised features available AT LAUNCH!!!

If none of those are addressed, GT will just become a series that I used to play.

I think sony should help PD with whatever $$ and any other resources to make GT7 a proper race game that dominated the genre. For many people (myself included) GT is the only thing that could drive me to buy a sony console. If Sony wants to win the console war lets step up and get it done. Give us what we crave, take our money. Easy formula!

Sony gave PD $60 million, they gave us GT5......

I'm not spotlighting you, I'm seriously curious about this, and you're better than most at explaining things. I keep seeing the assertion that GT6 is warmed-over GT5. I don't see it. I liked GT5, and everything that was added along the line made it better and better. At two years, GTA San Andreas was my longest-played game until GT5 added another year to that record. Quite to the contrary, GT6 has left me disgruntled, bored, and borderline completely uninterested. They both have gobs of cars, most of which would only be raced in an ice-bound kingdom just below the Arctic Circle, more tracks than any 4 international racing associations could use in a year, and online participation that GT6 seems to have made so unpleasant you'd think PD had to re-invent the internet to make it work. Beyond that, how are they so similar?

Well said 👍.

I'm not sure what you're asking of me, to be honest, or how it relates to what I posted? I don't think GT6 is better than GT5 if that's what you're asking but again, not sure how that relates to what I said, which was that simply throwing dollars at PD doesn't guarantee good results. GT5 and GT6 were both poor in their own way, for me.

I have no idea now why I asked you that specific question based on your post. I have a sinus infection going on at the moment and yesterday was a very bad day for me, so I apologize for replying to your post with the question I posed. I'm so confused myself right now I'm having a hard time clearing this up in my own mind:lol:. I imagine I read your post "Sony gave PD $60 million, they gave us GT5......" as a negative in regards to GT5, which you just confirmed somewhat, but why I thought you were then able to explain the reasoning behind those who say "GT6 is just GT5 repackaged" escapes me now. It must have been on my mind, and once again I apologize for bothering you.

Apologies to OP for veering off course, though of course problems with GT5 and/or GT6 will no doubt weigh heavily in the minds of those still not committed in their thinking on their purchase of GT7.

GT7 will definitely sell. I put faith in the guys at PD, I know that they can do great things. The PS4 will allow them to implement (potentially) better engine sounds, graphics, interior design and a bigger customisation system like Forza.
