Reason of delaying
"Natural challenges with finalizing all the key features and
localization issues across worldwide territories "

Will PD take his hands on completed GT4 again to update the game?
Like possibilities of adding more cars and 'finalizing all the key features'?
If so, I will be happy to wait. It's all up to PD anyway. 👍

Well it's no good if GT4 gets released with 8000 tracks and 19000000 cars, if everyone on this forum has passed away by the time it gets released.

Now I know why PD is working on "Gran Turismo for Boys". They are wanting to get little kids to start liking cars now, so when they reach the age of 30 or 40 they can enjoy GT5 :) that's genius!

My thoughts exactly. On paper the game could be ownage, but if it never gets to my PS2 then its all for naught.

If Japan release is suposed December 28th, then I doubt that they would add much more.

hopefully it IS december 28th.. does that mean we'll get it early january, or are they still sticking to "1st quarter 2005"- which could basically be end of march?

In a way for the first time since knowing about this game I am happy. All of you NTSC peeps expecting to have the game while eating Chrismas turkey are dissapointed about the constant delays. While me in PAL land knew that I would be playing it closer to Valentine's day, which is still the case for me.

Yeah, I just noticed that the one who's affected by this recent delay most is... the North American NTSC people.. Japanese can still survive if it really comes out this december. I never thought about european getting it on 2005 cuz it wasn't our release day.. but i guess we're pretty much on the same boat now.

at least tell us when! SCEA! we getting on the-first-yearly-quatery-what?

Well, just remember.. this delay can be added to the PAL delay, since it will still take the same amount of time to do the localization and translations. They'll just have a later start now.

A week ago, we were blessed to lots of beautiful news. This week with this issue, here's the buzzkiller. Straight-up haters and hypocritical game reviewers will be further embarassed by GT4's delay. As I've said, GT4's success will depend on how apologetic and passionate fans will be about GT4. If the wait and such comes up as a disappointment for this hot series, GT4's accolades will be horrible.

NissanKorea, this question has a not-even-close answer. Of course. You don't delay a finished game and maybe add little things to it. Put I've thought of something strange this may set up. While I don't care about it, many of you may have read that online play beyond LAN will come next year pending how Sony will set its servers straight for online play. So what we'll see in this further delayed GT4 is going to depend.

Other than that, I know this is a big story with several different topics made between 1AM Thursday and 1AM Friday (both Eastern Standard Time, of course). This is being discussed elsewhere, but I answered your question, if at all possible. Good day.

I have to say this, IMO, is a false statement. Anyone with the committment to GT4 to follow news posts and other things will still buy GT4 when it IS released. Really, this delay shouldn't change the sales, except for the fact that it'll be past the holiday season, and people will have already spent all their money. Still, any fan who's been following GT4 for the last year or however long will set aside money for it. Anyone who says they're not going to buy GT4 because of this delay is lying. Once they see it on the shelves after waiting this long for it, do you honestly think they'll just pass it off and buy the bag of chips next to it?

Obviously this wasn't a choice made on a whim. If there wasn't something terribly wrong, Sony wouldn't delay the release. It'd be terrible business if they did. Sony is smarter than that, and we all should know this. It's too close to the holiday season, and you know even Sony isn't happy to delay this to after the holidays.

Agreed. Sure, I'm not happy about the release. I'm just not going totally crazy about it like some others. Because no matter how I feel about the delay, I know there's not a damn thing I can do about it. I've got my reservation made. It'll be good whenever the game's out, and I'll go get it. End of story.

That's another good point. Any "hardcore" GT4 fan should have it pre-ordered already. I don't however, since I seem to be short on money..... all the time.

honestly, i really feel like this is the final slap in the face. ive been watching them push this thing back for ages. they removed the online thing, fine, release it. **** B spec mode, and whatever BS about including a couple more cars or whatever.

release it, stop ****ing around. u missed christmas, good job polyphony. glad im just going to download it off newsgroups when its out anyways...i have no bad feelings doing at this point either.

Oh, that's good.. make your very first post on the forums about piracy. Good to go.

You're forgetting the fact that the game will be extremely diffucult, if not impossible, to pirate. It's a full DVD9, and takes up more space than even a dual-layer DVD-R can hold. The dual-layering also makes it largely incompatible with HDLoader.

I'd also like to point out that you probably just made a board full of enemies with that statement, as well. People who pay for things generally don't like it when someone brags about stealing it. Go away.

even so, he doesn't realize he'd need to buy a dual-layer dvd writer and then blank dual layered dvd-r media, which isn't cheap yet.. and even after all that, it most likely will not work :sly:

Especially when you're 38 already!!!!

Hey I must be getting real age conscious 'cause every post is reminding me of what an old git I am - hence my similar post in "delay again" thread :grumpy: :grumpy: [Grumpy Old Man]

That's not true. IF you use HDloader there is a program to take a DVD Dual-Layer Image that you rip from an original, like GT4. I won't be specific but it just requires you to put your PS2 harddrive into your computer, transfer image, then put back into playstation.

Still a run around, but none the less possible.

While I too was surprised at the new release date, when I asked about the reason for the push back at the local Eb games boutique they answered with: They are working on putting online back in.

I dont know how much truth there is in that and I dont know if EB can be trusted with these things, but it gives some nice thoughts. It's gonna be hard waiting that long sigh.

As I stated in another thread, maybe this is for the inclusion of the C6 Vette and others.
Yeah sure, like they are actually going to delay the game because of a car that is basicly the same as it's predecessor and no-one (except american car fanatics) really cares about.
I don't think there will be anymore additions. The game has gone gold, it is complete. The only things that rest, are localisation issues and more. Those aren't exactly part of the development process of the game.
If these issues take a lot of time, I wonder what exactly it is they're doing? Are they making special versions for each country? Are they making deals with local car related businesses to advertise their game? Unless told, we can only wonder.

If im not mistaken the C5 was highly praised for its lotech high performance bang for buck outside of the states aswell.... It was praised by Keiichi Tsuchiya (sp) aswell and C6 got an excellent review on TopGear.... Just cuz you dont like a car doesnt mean anyone else doesnt...........👎
