Yeah, I really think the headlights are better now, I wasent really a fan of the recent ones. I think it kinda has a Ferrari look to it too. I like it. It's supposed to be much more powerful now too!

I sure hope that they don't bring Corvette into the next installment of the GT series. Anything after 1972 is a waste of space, as far as I'm concerned. They just went ugly after that. Even the new ones, just don't have the pizzazz of the older days.

The C6 should be in GT4 if GM is organised enough to get Polyphony the details (if they haven't already) because the C6's design (and specs) are pretty much finalised...

Corvette has had a production C6 out for advertising shots in San Francisco. Should ebut in detroit in January, before GT4 is out (Let's face it, GT4 won't be out in the West til well into 2004).

Waste of space?! 72 was awful anyway. And even if it doesnt have the "pizzazz" of the older ones (frankly, i think the zr-1 and the z06 had enough "pizzazz" to put people into cardiac arrest.), the speed, power, and all-out brutality of the z06 model lays the old stingrays to waste. It competes directly with the 360 modena for crap's sake! And the new one is supposed to be an all-out supercar, if you've read up on what theyre planning for the next one. I'm talking Saleen S7 numbers.

The Z06 can't match a 360 on the track really, in street trim at least. It's got a big engine, and big tyres, but the 360 has got balance.

And the next Corvette is gonna have 400bhp, which is about what it runs now, isn't it?

A 500bhp Z06 model should take the Saleen off the line, but if we're talking about racing it'll still need work in terms of handling.

Either way, the Corvette's light weight makes it a pretty formidable machine. The next Corvette will be a muscle car, but I reckon it'll need more than power and wide rubber to make it a supercar.

It looks like I'm the only one that notices the Stingray like front end on the C6. It looks like they are taking a cue from Fords Mustang Concept, and going for the nastalgic look. I like the sharper lines, and Ferrari like bulges while retaining the classic Corvette roofline. All in all, it's not much of a departure from what's been, but It's hard to change a classic.

Hey Silviadrifter, have you ever seen the one body kit that is made for the new corvette? It's pretty nice, I saw it on the front of a DuPont Registry Mag. It's pretty expensive as well. It's the first version of Corvette since the classics that I have actually not minded. Of course, the supercharger didn't hurt either.

show me the "power" oh great drift guy. I'm waiting for the bang for buck comparison. Go ahead and find me a car similarly priced (between 50000-70000 us dollars) that performs consistently better. And for future reference, posting a lot on a forum does not a knowledgable person make. So the next time you want to make an arrogant comment like that, don't. Pre-70s corvettes were NOT economically priced, not even close, and they still didn't compare to the real exotics of that time. Sure, the 427 had some grunt, and it handled pretty well, but the vette has made huge leaps since those nasty mullet mobile mid seventies cars. Including pricing (relative to inflation and competitions price points, namely ferrari, porsche, dodge viper, etc.). In fact, the only cars I can think of that can stomp a vette's track times within that price point (or lower) are japanese. Like the Skyline R34 GTR or maybe an EVO with some attention to detail.

TVR T350C, £31,000 and it would kill the Vette round a track, most TVR's would. The Radical SR-3, again 31k and it holds the record lap round Nurburgring for a road car. Wesfield XTR-2 and FW300 and 400 will all beat a Vette and are priced 20-35k. The Vette is a good car in Z06 form, especially bangs for bucks, there are better ones than the Vette though.

I completely overlooked all those wonderful british cars. for shame . Also Note that the Radical and the Wesfields may qualify as road cars, but let's face it; they are very thinly disguised track day cars. Nothing against them, they are amazing. But as far "tuning your car up to the vette's price" business; thats a load of hooha. Especially straight line figures. Come on, a good set of stickies is all the Vette needs for contests of that nature. I'll get you a couple comparos of my own soon. There are also issues of drivability, standard, equipment, comfort, fuel consumption, etc. But just for now we'll focus on performance. Now, I'm not a corvette fanboy, I just found your above post trashing the newer ones unfounded.

Personally I don't mind the US Muscle cars. I seem to like them all. The 427 Stingray I had in my GT2 was nice, as was the ZR-1. Both good in different ways. I don't see why you lot are busting up over such a small issue...
