I know there was a lot of talk when they made the decision to put a lot of emphasis on the G25 then before the actual launch of GT5 they came out with the Thrustmaster T500 as the official GT5 steering wheel

I just wonder if there will be a new official wheel for when GT6 is released and if so would any of you buy it? Do we even need a new wheel?

I'm not going to buy a new wheel. I don't know what you'll do though.

I don't think that there will be a new wheel, the sad part is that by entering the mobile market(end exiting console/pc) by Logitech we won't see a good low priced wheel in the future.

By time the T500 will be cheaper ,or you'll eventually get a used one.

Current wheels are very good. I don't expect them to release a new steering wheel for Gt until Gt goes Ps4. But then only if there are some significant technical improvements instead of some enhancements.

I would love to have a new entry wheel developed by Thrustmaster as the plastic shifter on my DFGT is basically held together by tape now. Maybe a basic clutch/H-pattern included now along with a better, quieter FFB motor than the DFGT. Price it at $100-$150 and it would sell like hotcakes.

If there is no new wheel in development, then I guess it's time to face reality and go the G27 way. If only it wasn't so damn expensive...

Who knows? Generally, the current Logitech series will be more than enough for most. Hardly anyone would buy a GT6 branded one for their GT-force.

If a new wheel should be out, I would believe it's from Thrustmaster, as (I don't remember where I've read it) they're "replacing" Logitech, as the "official GT-wheel developer". Chances point in this way too.

Logitech wheels are gone. They were not available any more on their website the last time I checked.

There not many manufacturers in a resonably priced area for "casual" racegamers who are willing to invest 100-250 EUR.

Great to hear - they changed their menu structure and wheels do not have a top node anymore. Glad to hear, they're still available.

I'm personally a bit of a wheel nut (pun kind of intended). I own two Fanatec Forceshock wheels. One is the Xbox version and the other is the PS version (primarily for use on PS1 games, but I also intend to run a comparison between FM1 and GT4 at some point). A MS wireless wheel (used to co-own a 360 with my brother but moved out, know anybody who wants to buy one at a good price?). A DFP and a G25. I also keep pretty well informed of what's happening on the wheel front.

I personally doubt there will be a new wheel for GT6. What does concern me however is the future of the decent quality entry level wheel. If Logitech are giving up wheel production (I've not heard anything concrete on that) who is going to fill the gap left by the DFGT? The DFGT plays a vital role as the go to entry level wheel. Also seeing how wheel manufacturers are not very interested in backward compatibility, I may pick one up while they're still around to ensure I can play my PS2 games in the future.

I've not bought a wheel since the G25, the reason being the G27 wasn't a big enough improvement over the G25, plus they got rid of the sequential shifter.

In the case of the T500, while it seems a great wheel, when combined with the TH8 it is pretty expensive for a wheel that I don't like the shift paddles on (plus they said there would be different rims available implying more than one).

Edit: After posting this I discovered they have recently released a new rim (feel a bit silly now for the line "I also keep pretty well informed of what's happening on the wheel front").

At the moment my next purchase will most likely be from Fanatec. I'm keeping an eye on the Clubsport wheel but again, it's a lot of money and for that price I need to be completely satisfied with it. From reports I've heard the GT wheel rim is fairly heavy and can dampen the FF when compared to the F1 wheel. Hopefully they release a lighter non F1 rim. I'm also fairly interested in the GT3 RS wheel.

Being someone who attaches my wheel to a desk (with a slide-out keyboard tray) the Logitech wheels have mounted to my desk at an ideal height and with minimal fuss. Both Fanatec (including their shifters) and Thrustmaster's mounting solutions are both going to be pretty inconvenient for me.

Ultimately though, I was holding out to see Logitech's new wheel. But that may never happen. It would be nice if Logitech communicated more openly with the public. It will be interesting to see the next official GT wheel whether it be for GT6 or GT7.

There is no way they could price it like that with those features. That's asking Thrustmaster to build something with G25 specs for half as much as Logitech charged for it.

Agreed. I've seen someone asking for a wheel that has T500RS quality force feedback, a shifter with force feedback, a handbrake, load cell brake with force feedback for like $300-$400. I love to dream too but people have to be realistic.

I think it would perhaps be more reasonable to have something priced similarly to the DFGT with better force feedback a more solid feeling sequential shifter and better pedals. Even then I'd expect to pay a bit more than the DFGT.

Just to note that I attach my T500 to a slide out keyboard tray on my desk in the same way I did with my DFGT (which I have still got) and both fit fine.

Though the T500 is huge in comparison and the tray has to be pulled all the way out it's bulkiness has never bothered me.
The lack of a shifter packaged has bothered me though as I still haven't got round to buying the TH8.

I did mount the Fanatec Forceshock to the keyboard tray, due to it sitting much higher than the Logitech wheels. My keyboard tray has a built in palm rest so I had to put a couple of thin books behind it so that it sat flush. It worked OK but I fear it may be less than ideal given the force feedback of the T500.

I agree, there definitely needs to be another entry level wheel that retails around $150 like the DFGT first did. Hopefully Thrustmaster sees this market, but I don't really trust they will.

A nice solid cheaper wheel with some plastic pedals with good feel, and a clutch. As well as a little plastic, but strong, sequential shifter and some decent, easy to mod, paddles. That would be a dream.

If the FFB motor was weak but still detailed, maybe on the level of a stronger DFGT, had 900 degrees of rotation, an 11" rim, a properly universal mounting system and some good face buttons, they've got a winner. Jeez, even if it was at $200, I'd still think that thing would sell insanely. 'cause not only would GT and console gamers pick

And btw, I really don't like the T500, I bought it to train for GT Academy, and while the wheel was decent (uselessly overpowered imo, most everyone dials the FFB down to nothing anyway) the pedals were outrageously bad.

I know the RGT had a clutch pedal with a sequential shifter, but a lot of people said it felt really odd and just ended up using two pedals instead. I think if you had a clutch you'd soon be wishing you had a gated shifter, and that is when the price starts to climb.

I thought that Thrustmaster would come with a decent entry level wheel when I saw "Thrustmaster T100" as supported wheel for GRID2. But I haven't seen anything of that yet...

Anyway, as long as my DFGT is working, I'm happy. I'm just concerned what to do if it breaks down and new DFGTs would be no longer available...

Yeah, clutch isn't absolutely necessary at all, but would just appease a lot of the more superficial type. Most people use button clutch these days anyway, that are serious about chasing speed I mean.

Do we actually know that Logitech are killing the 'wheels? Could they not count as PC accessories too?

Like most have said, the wheels will be the same. Logitech wont be bringing out a new wheel any time soon and this is due to dropping sales last quarter or two... They haven't said from what I've seen them say that they'll be stopping the production of their wheel since they have said the want to sustain a presence in the PC gaming arena.

Are current ps3 wheels compatible with PS4? If not then why make a new wheel.
