Will you go to XBone if Standard cars are officially announced for GT7?

  • Yes, I had enough of PD. This way I can play Forza and Pcars.

Options #2 and #3 apply to me. I'm sure if someone searches hard enough they'll find a post I made many months ago about "Not buying GT7 on release date if standards are included." However, There's no point in me switching to XB1 because they don't have any baseball games and, on a level playing field (I.E. PS3 to XB360), I still see GT superior to Forza. Obviously it may change with the PS4 (which I'm not getting for a few months), but I doubt it. I won't even be bothered considering The Crew and PCARS(should I get that) will be on PS4 as well.

By the time GT7 comes out, it's likely not going to be GT vs. FM. It's going to be would you like GT7, or would you like FM5, FM6 and Horizon 2? That's an awful lot of gameplay.

There's still good reasons to buy either one, but I can see a lot of the people who like cruising or were calling for C-Spec defaulting to Xbox, because Forza provides 90% of the GT experience, plus some additional bits, plus an entire open world version to play in.

GT may strike back on that one if they ever get their course maker working, and if it's sufficiently versatile to allow people to enjoy that experience of driving on "real" roads. But at the moment we wait in hope.

Let's see:

- I can't afford either console at the moment
- I can't afford any good PC at the moment

So my answer is the unlisted 6th option: Considering a five finger discount.

At this point, I have neither one of the new consoles.
Mainly because there has been no compelling reason to warrant the purchase of either one.

It would take something really overwhelming for me to buy a XBone.
I still have a bad taste, from their pre release announcement to attempt forced extinction of the used game market.
Even if, it probably is a foregone conclusion in the future, and even though MS recanted their position,
undoubtly, they showed their true colors. No respect for the gaming public that supports their product.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!
Used games, and the credits for turning in games, have provided me with a lot of gaming over the years at a substantial savings.
Likewise I do not like their push to hammer you with DLC after you have already paid for a game, that should have most of the content, that now they want to sell you at extra cost.
I've played all the Forza games up until now, but no thanks MS, Forza 5 isn't that good a game.

So now I'm down to the other choice, the PS4.
As of now the only thing on the horizon that may seriously tempt me is PCARS.
With a release this fall, if it appears to be really good, I may go for a Christmas gift to myself.
Perhaps even a early one.
We shall see.

I'm just going to wait until PS3 stops receiving support. I'll decide then. But, I won't get an XBone, that's for sure. I always thought Microsoft had the "family friendly all in one system, take all your money" mentality, and Sony had the "Bad version of a Gaming PC" mentality.

As an avid Steam user, it just seemed like Steam on console to me. I have no problems with Steam. I buy games at used game prices, except that the money goes to the publisher instead of Gamestop.

Personally, I'd rather they make the standard cars a DLC.

That way, when the game releases with 400 cars, you people will realize that's more than enough. Then the people who want to drive all the oldschool cars will be able to.

That's how I've felt from the start. That if GT5 and GT6 had no standard cars, tons of people would gladly buy all 800 standard cars as a $10-$15 DLC so why complain about them?

I don't think they should be in GT7 at all, but seriously considering to buy the weaker console just because GT7 has some cars you don't want? It's pathetic

If you don't like em, don't drive them. How about that!!!

I don't recall Steam ever being beholden to the whims of retailers when it comes to prices or end user rights, so as another avid Steam user I don't see any similarity besides some of the perks that the original Xbone system theoretically could have provided.

Except...

Well, "that" has been the default argument since they were first announced all the way back in the summer of 2010. A nice and snappy comeback to try to silence everyone who takes issue with them by painting them as completely unreasonable for not simply making the choice to avoid them so everyone wins. With all the talk about how the Standard cars are just a bonus on top of all of the Premium cars (despite the game not in any way being advertised as such), it's at least logically consistent. A funny thing happened, though: "That" as an argument becomes completely meaningless if the games that feature the Standard cars require you to use them to fully advance through the career mode.

Yet despite how, say, you couldn't even entirely complete the second tier of races in GT5 without using Standard cars, people continue to use "that" as a rebuttal even though it essentially just amounts to buzzwords in actual practice if PD doesn't actually give the player that choice.

That's one of the absolute most disgusting money grabbing idea I've heard in a long time.

"Well, we have 800 cars straight from the PS2 that we used in the last two games. Let's charge our fans $15 to drive them for the upcoming game! "

No kidding:lol: They'd be better off making them absolutely free, put them on the disk, but make it optional to include them download them into your version of the game, and don't make them mandatory for any racing series or event.

But they can't really do that. It'll be the same as saying, "we know this content is old and outdated, but you don't have to use it".

Or, since the models and data would take up... maybe 1GB, just install them on to the PS4 and have the user check a box if they want to use standard cars... Or reintroduce the UCD and put all the standards in there but with all vehicles available by manufacturer.
Because 1/5 GT5 players have no idea that's what the UCD is

"Gran Turismo back to PS2 edition"; a seperate game with all the standard cars and PS2 tracks available for download in the PS2 games section on the PS store, so you can play it on your 2014 console if you feel really really... i mean really nostalgic.

That would be the only respectful decision IMO (oh wait... on second thought.. let's just take the easy route and re release GT4 :dopey:).

Alright, I don't usually say too much on forums, but this whole whining like little babies because there are toys you don't want to play with in your toybox is ridiculous. I am sure in GT6 you don't need to use standard cars if you don't want to. People getting mad because there is extra content on the game you don't like is absurd. A lot of the cars I drive are standard, and since I use hood cam I really couldn't tell you which ones are standard or premium. They are eventually going to have all cars premium someday but until then please stop encouraging PD to take away game content that many of us love. Just my two cents

This whole idea of multiple versions of the game or an on/off switch sounds like it would solve everyone's problems on both sides, but let's face it - that's simply not the way the gaming world works. PD making the wide majority of the game's content optional would send quite the mixed message, as several people before me have already mentioned. Let's not forget all the fragmentation issues that could potentially arise - career mode and online play for starters might present two completely different experiences depending on your choice. Honestly, the last thing PD should ever want to do is make the game more fragmented and more inconsistent than it already is.

Then again, before GT5 I don't think anyone ever imagined a developer of a triple-A franchise would hang onto last-generation assets, and right now we're facing a two-generation gap for GT7...

I know that there are a lot of posts in this topic, but reading one all of 6 posts prior in response to when someone said the exact same thing shouldn't be too much to ask.

This goes to you and anyone else who insists with that stupid line "don't like it, don't use it".

1. It is impossible to finish career mode without using standard cars.
2. Even if you use hood cam you still get to see the OTHER standard cars racing against you.
3. It is the quality we are complaining about, not the actual models. For example I would love to see a Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak full premium.
4. By saying that you want us not to use two thirds of all cars. That would only be fair if we would pay for a third of the price of the game.
5. We also know the majority of these cars are only kept for "car count". There are infinite duplicates (Renault Clio and Lutecia, Vauxhall/Opel, etc) and cars no one would ever miss, Suzuki Alto any one?
6. We love the game as much as you people do, we just want it to be as beautiful and consistent as it once was.

Any way it is all good, I know where you are coming from I would hate to see some of those cars gone but as I said before we just want them to make them premium but at this rate it would take them 15 more years to make them all premium but then again ps4 quality cars might be considered "Standard" by then :).

The reason graphics matter is that GT is supposed to be a top notch driving experience. When I turn a corner lined with ugly, low-res, billboard-style trees, it lowers the experience. When I dash next to a cliff face with gross, 16-color, pixelated rock textures, it lowers the experience. When I pass the 213854th Skyline that is clearly modeled with about 200 polygons, it lowers the experience. When I go to buy a classic, European roadster, and everything I find has ugly, blocky textures and simple, blocky shape, it lowers the experience. When I see an obviously repeated texture on the road in front of me, it lowers the experience.

GT should be as immersive a driving experience as possible given the hardware. GT1-4 succeeded admirably in that regard, whereas GT5 and 6 simply didn't.

The reason why Kazunori wants to keep the standard cars, as i remember from an interview,
is because each one is made by one member of the PD( i guess),which is beautiful!
But why doesn't the same person who made the standard car, upgrade it to premium?
That is just PR talk, main reason is car count the other could be that Kaz is a hoarder.

Agreed, it is PR talk. It's funny that Kaz will want to keep one's favorite car in the game as... A standard..... Why should that be acceptable?

For example. The Toyota Supra RZ is probably among everyone's favorite JDM car, but it's a standard model. Guess because it's loved by many Kaz is likely going to keep it as is in GT7. No, that is not the reason. As @Fat Tyre mentioned above my post, it's because he want's to continue boosting up the car count, not because he want's to keep one's favorite car in the game. I rather Kaz upgrade a car I love or ditch it completely and upgrade it later in the future. I wouldn't want to see my most liked car looking like crap like the one below.

I guess that's a more likely reason, but still i hope that we will have all cars premium.
Which, by the way, making them all for PS4 over again is not exactly
a 1week job.(in short, a LOT of time needed for modeling)

Not really, if you have a closer look at the list. Many, many, many, did I say many? cars have been duplicated in order to increase the car number. Obvious ones are Renault Sport Lutecia/ Clio, Mazda 2/ Demio, Daihatsu Sirion/ Storia, etc. That is called "re-badging". Car manufacturers often change the name of their cars when sold to different markets and GT has unashamedly used the same car models, re-badged them and increased the car count.

Then you have the not so obvious ones such as the Pontiac Vibe GT '03 being the same as the Toyota VOLTZ S '02. Then you also have Dealers which share all of their cars such as Vauxhall and Opel.

If they would stop with this stupid "GT has +1000 cars" they would be able to get rid of at least half of these standards in no time and then re make the rest into Premium. But then with the remaining half most of them are cars no one would miss.

That list is a fraud, it only creates clutter and makes it difficult to look for the good cars . I do not know about you but I rather have quality than quantity.
