You seem to be physic again. XBL could be hacked and XB could get a bad update. You talk like things that have happened to PSN could never happen to XBL and you don't need to worry about them.
Its one thing if it "could" happen compared to it already happened......PSN. :sly:

So far xboxlive has never had a bad upate and has never been hacked. Bring up this discussion with me when it actually happens to Xboxlive. Really what do you feel more comfortable buying? A product that is known to be hacked, is unstable online, and has bad updates......or a product that hasn't had these issues yet. Exactly.

It's happened, TWICE.

I'd rather buy PS4, because although PSN has been unstable once or twice in the past, it's quite stable now. I never have problems. I'm still waiting to see the difference between 3rd party games on the consoles.

My point was you said you "won't have to worry" as if you can be sure they won't happen.

I'm already subscribed to PS+, so having to pay to play online doesn't really change anything for me since I'm already paying anyways. Honestly, I really like PS+. For the $50/year that it costs, I get much more than that back in terms of value from playing the games that come with the subscription.

That being said, I still think it sucks that you have to pay to play online for the PS4. That was the primary thing that kept me from enjoying the 360.

Exactly this.

That's still 2 times more than the xbox or 360 combined. :sly:

I cant help but laugh at you justifying it is okay for a system to be hacked, steal your identity or, a patch that instantly bricks your console. I remember back when people said "It only happened 1 time". Now justifying oh it "only happened twice". Wont be long and......."It only happened 3 times...."
You see the pattern right? How many times are you going to defend this practice? :dunce:

It was expected and somewhat easy to shrug off back when the online was free. Imagine how people are going to feel when it happens now that EVERYONE on psn is be forced to pay for this feature. No thanks. I am glad I am moving on. Which is hard for me because I started a fan of the playstation with NO interest in the xbox. Glad I am open minded, tried the PS1, PS2, PS3, xbox, and 360 and will be moving onto the X1. Will be leaving the PS4 behind. PS3 will be my last playstation experience.

No. You missed the point again. He was saying that it's happened on Xbox twice. Maybe you should, y'know, read replies to your posts.

What? Practice?
PSN has been hacked once, after that they added extra security measures.

Nobody is 'justifying the system being hacked'.

TWICE to the 360 I mean, 2006 and December 2011. Look it up if you are unaware. I have no idea how many times bad updates have been released for PS3 other than this one. Possibly has happened before IDK but for you to say it has not happened on 360 is not correct. 👍

I will not pay to race online, or to play online multiplayer.

While Sony is doing a good job to incentivize players with getting a PS+ membership (free AAA titles every month, amongst freebies,) point remains that they're still requiring you to pay a subscription for a formerly free service. Freebies or no, I have no desire to incur additional costs for a game, after said game is purchased (hence, why I'm not a fan / consumer of subscription-based games, like WoW.)

I already have PS+ membership because it's good deal, enjoyed lot of "free" games I wouldn't buy otherwise ... and I'm glad that PS+ membership is for all Playstations, not just PS3 but Vita and PS4 as well.

I'll pay. Don't mind paying for Xbox Live, so I'm okay with paying for this. Although, it will be a bit more expensive paying for both, since I plan on owning both the PS4 and Xbox One a few years from now.

Yes I will, the amount of hours of online game play I've racked up on the PS3 is beyond the count. I can't imagine it will be any different on the PS4, so it will be well worth the £35 odd pounds for PS+.

Plus with many games being so heavily focused on online game play, I can imagine myself getting pretty bored solely playing offline.

Very true. Xboxlive is a LOT more stable than PSN by a longshot. I started online gaming with the PS2 back when Socom 2 and Underground 1 were out. Been playing MANY online games including PS2, PS3, PC, xbox, and 360. The PSN is by far the most unstable online experience. I don't mind paying for live because its well worth it especially for around $34.00 if you watch for sales. PSN is not worth paying for IMO at all. Plus after the PS3 got hacked for what 2 months or more, I just don't feel comfortable paying for PSN. Sonys selling point has always been "free online". Answer is no to paying for PSN. Live dominates the online experience imo. Since I am gaming online 99.9% of the time, live is the best option for me.

Source?

I've owned a PS3 since launch day and I bought a 360 when they launched the Elite that "fixed" the RRoD problems and I've never seen Live! as a better multiplayer experience than the PSN. Sure Live! has cross game chat (something I never use) but other than that I have always had the same exact experience on both consoles. In fact, with both on wireless connections, the same exact distance from the router, my 360 disconnects much more often than my PS3 does and this is duplicated at my buddies house with his 360 and PS3.

In my personal opinion, I think the Xbox owners claim Live! to be so superior and so much better because they have to pay and that is the way they justify it. As a gamer who owns both consoles I can say that in my experience the PSN is just as good as Live! and since I'm no longer a Live! gold subscriber (so I can't watch Netflix or use the internet browser on my 360, which is absolutely idiotic) I can say, for me, there is nothing that Live! offers that makes it worth paying for that the PSN doesn't have.

I am disappointed that Sony is requiring PS+ to play most online games (some free to play games like Planetside 2 and DCUO won't require a subscription) but as an early PS+ member it has been worth every penny and I never intend on letting my subscription expire so it won't affect me.

No, not as it stands at the moment

I'm sure its good value for some but I haven't played infamous that we got for free yet when psn got hacked. just not interested enough and no idea when I'd get chance or feel like going online, could be 4 weeks, could be less or more over a year. can't really pay upfront for something I may or may not use.

like uncharted 2, quite fun for a few weeks online, went into it just trying it out, wouldn't pay 12 months nor some overpriced 2-3 month sub for something unknown

Put me off buying a PS4. I hope Sony back down or offer some limited access

I've been thinking about this. Just a hunch, but I can see all free to play games being available to those without a ps plus account. Most free to play games offer quicker progression to those who are willing to pay for it. They rely on multi transactions to make the game profitable. I can see most f2p developers/publishers appealing to Sony to let non psplus subscribers play their game. The more users, the more money they make. At the same time, people who don't have a psplus subscription may enjoy playing f2p games online so much that they decide to stump up the cash for a psplus subscription. It's really a win-win scenario for f2p developers/publishers and Sony.

Again, just a hunch.

I agree, I expect this to be the case and will be shocked if it isn't.

Disappointed paid online gaming is the only option now, although the benefits of PS Plus make it reasonable value. Overall that's a yes from me!

My opinion is that if you average 1 hour a week playing online then it is a good deal, anything more than that is just gravy and if you play less than that then you could probably do without it.

I like the idea of the cross game chat, hopefully it will support at least 4 players at once or more. This is a feature that I really like about live and use all the time even when not playing online. I will often chat with friends while tuning or playing rivals or whatever. Sometimes I just log on to Xbox just to talk with friends about whatever.

I missed this playing GT5 where the only way to chat with friends while in GT Life mode was to use the party chat feature on XBox live which fortunately we all had at the time but seemed a bit odd to need a Gold live account to chat with friends while we were all playing GT5.

I don't mind the fee for online play especially if they give us a good chat system while not in a race lobby and likely improve the online play as well.

PSN is not stable, it throws quite a few bugs up, and ive heard many people say the Xbox live service is a lot better, i would happily pay for a premium service if it would improve the PSN problems.

But to people who are moaning about this, as always its your wallets that count. So many times people say DLC is rip off etc etc then go buy it. PD/Sony only care about $$$. The only real vote is if you actually buy it or not.
Pretty much every company cares about money. And I'm glad the company I work for does as well.

No, it's about priorities. My extra $$$, all of it, is going towards a FR-S. I'd much rather have the real car. And if the PS3 is unaffected, then I'll stop after GT6 and won't get 7.

When you pay for online play, you're telling the companies that it's okay to keep milking you. It's not okay with me.
So you never go for a meal at a fast food joint, do you? Because PS+ is less than going to any of those restaurants once a month.

Also, if you're saving every penny for a car you're not gonna buy GT6 anyway, are you?

Same here. Already have PS+ for the free games, won't notice a difference with the online.

I own both consoles and was a big fan of Forza, I ended up giving up with FM4 as I was one of those experiencing Fanatec wheel issues from near enough day one.

More to the point though I was also one of those unfortunate people that suffered due to a Xbox update as my wheel was pretty much unusable on any driving game. Thankfully it's a multi-platform wheel so I still got to use and enjoy it.

For somebody that seems to praise the Xbox alot you need to learn to check the facts before stating crap like this.

Here's some info on it to prove my point

Probably no.
I was allowed to race against others for free on PS3, but now Sony announced that you'll have to pay to race online on PS4. It somehow feels like one of the major functions is stolen from PS4, and you'll have to pay to get it back. I am against this movement, so no, it's not likely for me to buy Playstation Plus just for online multiplayer on a few games.
But then I'm not so sure, since online racing is one of the only sources of entertainment after I finished most of GT5, and battles between the online players of my region did create some exciting races...
