I did the windows 7 service pack 1 update and now I can't use my USB.

It said that it could not read it, and that I had to format the USB, so I did that and now it says, "E:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable." and gives me the option to format it sometimes and now the usb is empty because of the format.

Is there any fix?

Try other USB keys.

You can also try running a CHKDSK /F on it via the command line.

Start>type in CMD, then run as admin>type in "chkdsk X: /f"

X= drive letter.

But i sounds like your USB key is dead.

I'm probably only a little smarter than the average computer user so that is out of the question, I don't know how to do that, but anyways, now that It has deleted everything on my USB, it seems to be working again, I selected restore defaults in the format window which changed the allocation unit size from 4096 bytes to "default..." settings

nevermind, now the device driver won't install and now I'm starting to get mad:banghead:🤬

There is a problem with E:\

a month, It should be fine because I just used it a day ago, could it be the ports in the computer? The light on the USB lights up at the beginning, it'll say installing device sofware or something similar then just stop and everything disappears

Problem resolved, found a new USB and it worked so something happened to the other one like you said, and had nothing to do with the windows update
