I'm in the middle and i'm not sure which game to get this or Dead Nation.I already got LBP which was a no brainer for me.

One question though,Can you use a DFGT Wheel for this game?

Why would you want to? Not all racing games are "doing laps around a circuit in cars", and Wipeout is about as far removed from that concept as is possible in the genre.

I think the GT Force does (saw it confirmed on a site). Although it will be very difficult with a wheel. I've got both games (I don't want R&C, I've got LBP and InFAMOUS is too big), and I reccomend Wipeout: it's got two campaigns (Fury and HD), it's got online (so does DN, but it's only two-player). Zone mode and Detonator are awesome, and even after completing the game there are loads of trophies that are hard to get.

I was just curious.

It does look intense so i could see why it would be difficult with a wheel.

Shoot man.I'm still undecided on which one i want to get.:crazy:Wipeout looks like great fun and so does Dead Nation.Well at least i've got a bit to make my decision.

Not "very difficult", impossible. To properly control Wipeout craft you need all four directions on the analog stick and all four shoulder buttons. Wheels only give you left-right, X and square (being basic here), so you'd have to map up and down to a control on the wheel. Not to mention you're virtually always turning as hard as possible and not having, say, 20% "lock" on through the bends.

So while a wheel may work, you're kidding yourself if you think you can play the game with it :)

Wipeout is amazing, unlike Dead Nation which seems to have been getting a mixed response. If you like fast-paced gameplay and crazy tracks then Wipeout's for you... unless you're an epileptic, in which case stay away

Right,so the wheel is definitely out of the question then :scared:

Spent an hour or so on this last night, very enjoyable. Can see it getting a lot of hours. Quickly upped level to Skilled, I think I'll have to use Elite next time.

So for those of you who got the Air Brake and Zone Zeus challenges, which controller config did you use? Just curious.

Personally I've tried going the R2 (accel), Square (L AB) and Circle (R AB) route with some success but it does fatigue the forearm a fair bit more than simply holding X for thrust.

How do you unlock the liveries for the craft, I've unlocked both loyalty skins for the Feisar but I have no idea how to unlock the other 3. I presume someone on here knows? :)

Had to check GameFaqs to get this one figured out. So there are skins for the HD ships and skins for Fury ships.

For the HD ships this is how you unlock their 3 skins:
* Second skin (one craft) - Gain 4000 loyalty points with that team
* Silver skins (all crafts) - Get a medal for every event in the Race Campaign
* Third skin (one craft) - Gain 8000 loyalty points with that team

The Fury skins are little more complicated, but here's how to unlock them. First the per team "Zone Battle Skin" unlocks:
* AG Systems - Unlock Turbulence Campaign
* Assegai - Unlock Nuked Campaign
* Auricom - Unlock all Aftermath Events
* EG-X - Unlock Corruption Campaign
* Feiser - Unlock the Impact Campaign
* Goteki 45 - Unlock Vortex Campaign
* Harimau - Unlock Aftermath Campaign
* Icaras - Unlock all Aftermath Events
* Mirage - Unlock Nuked Campaign
* Piranha - Unlock the Voltage Campaign
* Qirex - Unlock the Voltage Campaign
* Triakis - Unlock Vortex Campaign

Then to unlock the "Silver Fury Skin" for all teams:
* Silver Fury Skin (All Fury Ships) - Medal in all campaign events

Would anyone be up for a big GTP Tornament? I'm sure a lot of people will now have this game anyway...

Yes. I did a tournament on another forum on Friday and it was hella fun. And there's a trophy for doing a 12-race tourney as well.

We could all out a link to this thread in our sigs and hope some people will reply

Well, Daniel your sig worked. Just reporting on that.

Other than that I'm not interested in participating whatsoever.

Hey, I have this game. It doesn't suck. I'd play. Add me, but tell me you're from GTP.

This is quite a laugh on-line. I do think it's one of those games that can slip under the radar of many gamers, but really good fun.

Well I got it from welcome back and running the campaign in short bursts. On Frenzy now I think. It's a nice, compact game.

Who is competitive in Phantom (Meltdown in campaign) on Elite difficulty?

I just got my first Phantom Elite medal; only 80+ to go:sly:

I normally play Zone Mode and I've gotten so used to the ZM physics (I only use the airbrakes) that I've gotten worse at normal racing, but it's still fun. I don't play online because of the screwed up Voice Chat (all wavy and crap).

I picked this game up a while ago when the welcome back package forced me to pick it instead of the Ratchet and Clank game I thought I was allowed to choose (but I got another R&C game with my second controller, so it's cool now).

Anyways, I haven't played it very much, but I honestly don't see what everyone is so excited about. Maybe it's because I never played this game before (every time I saw it I dismissed it immediately as being uninteresting), or maybe I'm playing it wrong. It seems so hard, and I can never get into the corners just right; I guess I have to get used to it.

I'm so much more well adapted to real racing, and using my GT3 wheel with GT5 (:S) feels much more natural. Also, maybe I haven't listened to it enough, but the music seems...bland and really annoying, rather than pumping and awesome like everyone says it is. I haven't really played many of my PS3 games at all lately (I should stop buying new games, because I never, ever find time to play them), but I guess I should give this one another go some time soon; maybe it'll even be fun.

So far, my experience with it hasn't been terrible, at least, but it was far from incredible. Any tips on having fun in the game? I feel like I'm missing out on at least a few key points...maybe I just haven't gotten far enough in the game. But hey, it was free, and it looks pretty, so I can't complain. But, the photomode is...awful, really, so I can't really use it and have fun, like I do in the GT5 photomode, but that's not really a big issue.

Maybe it's just not for you. However, what I do know for a fact is that I myself would be missing out on fun games if I only go by first impressions. There are gazillion games out there and therefore one can approach them with an attitude that if a game doesn't please right away, one moves on to the next. Or, like me, first check reviews and people's opinions (both fans and non-fans), decide to get it and then give the game a decent chance regardless if I get shocked the first hour. Look for the fun, don't always expect it to jump you.

Like NFS:HP I tried it and was very unimpressed. And then I read good stuff about it that seemed to fit me as well as a whole thread with 90% haters (I've never quite seen anything like it). Still I got it thinking I must give it a chance and today I love it.

You're in the mindset that it's a racing game like GT5, Shift or Hot Pursuit. But it's completely different to all of those. This is a DS3 game by far, as turning is the most important thing in the game (automatic acceleration in the Zone modes and Detonator). The best thing to do it to sit still, and use minimal movements (just your index fingers and your thumbs), and concentrate :D

It just seems like everything is fast, and yet slow, and somehow hard to control, all at the same time. Is it because I'm still on the Venom class of the racers, and they're slow?

Also, when I gain 'loyalty' by using a specific manufacturer's vehicle, it says I gain loyalty points, like '1650,' '780,' etc, but the meter never seems to go up; it visibly stays at zero, as far as I can tell.

And what's the point of using the beat up old models when you can simply use the newer models from the same manufacturer and they're always better? I'm getting the feeling that these things are for people "in the know" to understand, and I'm feeling either put out or confused, or both. Somebody care to explain?

Edit: I have 3080 loyalty points in Feisar, and the bar is barely even visible. The progress is literally a couple pixels wide. I've done like 30 races; what's up with this?
