Yeah, it truly is. If he choose to end his life fine, but to remove that choice from anyone else is wrong.

It's only sick if he had the willfull, conscious, and sane mind to do it. As the note said, God told him to do it. He was probably bi-polar or something, and it finally got to him. That's a shame, either way.

Wow, that's terrible. But I don't really think you can blame the man, as this was clearly somebody who had mental problems - no sane person could ever imagine putting a gun to their 5-year olds head and pulling the trigger.

I feel sick now.

Best part about it... God doesn't exist. :D
I know this isn't the right place for a discussion about religion, but by it's very nature a god cannot be proved to exist. Or to not exist.

That's horrible. How someone could do that to his family is beyond belief, especially when they say that they were a very normal family, no prior crimes or red flags, not known to police, no previous problems.

Guns are bad, mmkay?

If it wasn't a gun, he might have smothered them or burned the house down around them... it's not the gun's fault.

Couldn't he have just left the stove on and let them all die in their sleep? I'm thinking that would be very peacefull.

PS

My mom was bipolar, she didn't go crazy and kill me did she? Don't go making assumptions about people just because of disorders or diseases they have. 👎

What did the gun do wrong?

Like neon_duke said by the sounds of it he would have killed them another way.

Aren't guns banned in Australia? I'm gonn go down there and invade. I'll take over that whole country/continent!

What if god really did ask him to do it? Not that I believe in god...but what if he did exist, and did ask the man to do it?

No, they are restricted but far from completely banned.

Um... true, but believing in a story said to be over 2000 years old and having no physical evidence that any of it is true, or even if there were 12 writers to it, is a REALLY LARGE stretch. Just think about this when you go to church, what if the epic tale of The Hobbits were to exist 2000 years ago? Would there be a Hobbitist religion?

Thats it!

I believe before that it was ok to own a handgun to protect your family. I was strongly against the usage of assault weapons but after reading that I think all handguns should be removed from households. This wouldn't have happened. But if he were desperate it could have been more gruesome.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. This guy had his mind set. Even if he didn't have a gun he would have taken the lives of his family. If he didn't have a gun he might have stabbed them, which would have been slower. Or poisened them, which may be even slower, or just completely mess there systems up without killing them. This is the kind of incident which makes me think that the catholic church is no better than any of those cults you see on tv.

In the last part of my post I said that if he were desperate it could have gotten more gruesome (i.e. Baseball bat, knife). But I do believe they should be banned still. I mean for sporting reasons of course. Locked up in your basement or attic. Not in your household. Oy I don't feel like arguing.

I think they should be allowed for sport. It is hard to have a gun for home protection if you have kids. It has to be readily available to be affective, but that makes it easier for the little ones to get a hold of. They do have trigger locks that prevent them from going off, but still most people leave their keys around anyway (key to the gun). The guns that only fire when you have a special magnetic ring on sound alright. In the end kids shouldn't be allowed to play with either the gun or the munition alone (not to mention together).

They don't specify what the gun was meant for (sporting or protection). But either way, only the person determines how you use it.

My take on it is, he'd have done it with or without a gun. Still, having grown up in Japan, where only kind of gun violence I was worried about were BB guns, I'd support gun control. Coincidentally, I just purchased my first firearm this weekend(small .22 rifle).

Moronic....

I own a Glock but have never actually used it. It just sits hidden in case anyone tries to pull anything. My roommate has his own pistol a .45 i believe, and no kids are ever at our house. SO i think its pretty safe for us to have them. We told each other the safety and a trigger lock would always be on them.
