Interesting but probably not very accurate...

I wondered about how to calculate one's average, given that simply dividing all your totals by the number of games played would actually favour those who strike out more than people who don't.

One would need to add a score (e.g. 7) for each failure or divide their score by games won only (which would also disregard any lost games).

My average is 3.76 with no defeats.
 
How do you guys deal with the need to confirm if a word has already appeared on a previous day, so as not to waste an attempt on it?

Two days ago I made a quick search regarding this (for the word SWEET, which I was almost certain had appeared recently), but then it got me thinking if I may be cheating...

On one hand, it seems innocent to do so, as it's something that was made public and it's easy to have access to. On the other, it makes sense that people playing the game the longest and taking notes of all words that came out so far should have an advantage in relation to more recent, sloppy players (i.e. myself). Adding to this, The New York Times' game page doesn't seem to share the results from previous days, so one can argue that it is, indeed, something you shouldn't be doing.
 
I don't check for any words that were previously played.

I've only started keeping a list of used words, but have not looked up a list of previous words. I presume that there will come a point when words start to be repeated anyway, hence it might not make a big difference in the long run...

I'm pretty sure the bottom right word is a repeat, but perhaps not in Quordle. Almost didn't try it because of that but I was at a loss for words made from what was left.
