Anyone else playing this?

To anyone who doesn't know, World of Tanks is a free Massively Multiplayer Online game where teams of players battle it out in WW2 (more precisely 1930s-1950s) light, medium and heavy tanks, self propelled artillery and tank destroyers with the aim being to destroy all of your opposition OR capture their base.

You can upgrade your tank with historically correct (mostly) upgrades, including chassis, turret, engine and gun by using the experience points and credits you earn in battles to unlock and buy them.

There are currently 90 playable armoured vehicles from three factions (Germany, U.S.A and U.S.S.R - including three lend-lease British tanks and a few reclaimed French tanks) with hundreds still to be added! Other features and battle types are also in the pipeline.

When I first started playing I found it a bit daunting (late starter) as I was coming up against fully upgraded versions of my little tank! Thankfully the tier system (10 tiers) means you very, very rarely face a much-superior foe. By now I find it really enjoyable, easy to jump into a few games and see how you do, although a few games too often turns into a few hours of games!

Actually I had some interest in the game a few months back,I will download it now,the highlight that shifted some interest on that game its the Guinness record of having the greatest amount of players online in one server(91,311) on January, however something else came up and I could not download it,I will download it now, lets see if is any good.

I will not fall into the WoW trap again thought.

Prepare for a little frustration at first as you get used to how the game works on different maps. Tactics used in real life cross over well (hull-down, peek and shoot, etc) and sticking with another tank at all times is advised.

I play. Look me up. guska in WoT as well, fighting with TOG3A (The Older Gamers 3rd Armored Division) clan.

See you on the battlefield

Holy thread revival Batman!

I was wondering if anyone is still playing this? I am. They've updated a whole bunch of things since the original release.

Played a bit, always got 'it' handed to me, stopped playing. Version 8.03 I think was last I saw, maybe 7.03.

It kinda gets better around Tier 4 or 5.

I admittedly still kinda suck at it right now though. I got 6 kills in the T-46 one round though. :sly:

That's why I never started playing earlier, it is graphically demanding. That makes it just the much better when you do have a good computer though!

This is also for the 360 but I don't see a thread for it. I just now remembered this game and signed up for the 360 version. This game is going to be free sometime later in the summer.

I play on the Russian server. But we can play together on common update tests... ;)

I was accepted into the beta. I just need to play it sometime. So far the 360 beta has not worked at all for me because the servers have been down.

Looks like I was right to search for this instead of making one. I've been playing for a few months, and it's really fun. I'm in a slump currently, trying to get to some tier 5 tanks.

If you're driving a tier 4 DW2 in the German medium/heavy line, there's a reason for the slump. Paper armor, slow, weak gun ... horrible tank.

Care to guess from the above comment what tank I have the lowest win rate in?

For those that don't know, the full version is now available on the 360....FREE. I played for a couple hours last night and it is quite fun. Much more fun than the beta. I enjoy the artillery class the most. I also enjoy the really small fast tanks for rushing the objectives.

Just a heads up, the first update took about 20-25 minutes even with a really fast connection.

I am officially hooked on this game now. I really like the fact that if your tank dies in battle, you can leave that game, start a new game, and your tank still earns you exp in that battle. That's is quite innovative and allows you to keep playing.

Had a killer game this weekend.

I think that I might have been more interested in this game if the vehicles had been more true to their characteristics - ie: fuel consumption was an active feature. I mean I'd love to try out Otto Skorzeny's theory that Panzer IVs would have won them the Battle of the Bulge due to fuel range and speed, even against heavier tanks.

Hopefully War Thunder will have that instead though.

I have had alot of fun on the 360 version of WoT. However ever since I got the the Jagdpanther II (Tier 8 German Tank Destroyer) I just lost interest. Mainly due to the spotting mechanics and the idiot teammates.

I only really play Tier I because I can't bother to research anything, but I might amend that soon. Planning on specializing in German tanks.

I am still truly enjoying this game especially with the new update that allows you to train your mechanics. After you level them up you are able to pick a specialization for them to learn. I have 1 tank for the first 6 tiers. However my level 6 heavy tank gets destroyed quite often. I really don't have much luck with it right now. Hopefully as I level it up, it will be more valuable in battle.

Loving my IS-2 in the Historic battles. It's the 7th level, but you can take down King Tigers which are level 8, if you beat in numbers and cooperate with the mates well. The tactic is kinda close to the historic reality. :D

Is it new on the X360 version? On the PC, it is possible for a long time already.
