Grand Canyon, USA the spot of our 2nd stage of the World Rally Championship Series! This is a treacherous course with lots of surprises and bumps along the way.

Track – Grand Canyon, Forward (Section I) AND Backward (Section II)

Rules – Please follow all rules outlined in our initial WRC Thread

Forum – Please feel free to discuss strategies, any and all “T” Times, just no final times.

Time Submission – What I need from you now by Sunday Nov. 27th @ 12:00PM (PST) is a Private Message for Stage II with BOTH Section Times.

Leaderboard – You can find the running Leaderboard at this address:
http://www.luxy.ca/gt4/leaderboards/wrc/

********RESULTS LEADERBOARD!!!!!***********
http://www.jumpace.com/gt/WRC/LB.htm
*****************************************

Side Dish – This track I am allowing you to LIGHTLY tap 1 or 2 walls as this is the longest week of them all. I recommend anticipating what section is ahead much like the driving strategy of Nurburgring. Try to maintain as much speed as you can thru the tight 180’s that are spread out through the track and minimize braking through the sweeping turns. Good luck and I’ll see everyone at the finish! I would also like to thank Bhawk776 for some truly great pics I will be using here and there.

Results posted!!

ahh, Grand Canyon. My RS200 LOVES it round here, so i should get some good times in. I think the arcade version i drove did a good lap.

Yes...no more Frozen Paperclip Hell! Onward, forward, and let's get dirrty!!!! :D

HOLY ****, this is TOO . MUCH . FUN !!!! :goofy:

Jeez, this reminds me exactly why I'm in this series 👍 and if you're not doing this with a DFP, you are sure missing a whole heap of madness! God, WHAT A BLAST.

I did about 4-5 laps with each car, so I hope to get these splits down ... running stock right now, mainly because I have no idea what to do on dirt :p

WRC
FORWARD: 1'17.108 - 1'48.433
REVERSE: 49'393 - 1'19.873

As a slight aside, my final laptimes are within .2 of eachother with the 206, forwards and backwards. Go figure. Dayum, this car on this track is an absolute joy.

HISTORIC:
FORWARD: 1'18.356 - 1'49.640
REVERSE: 50.176 - 1'22.024

I think the 205 is too underpowered, but I want to keep the whole 'team thing' going, so she's fun to drive never-the-less.

Now ... PICTARS!!!!

Nice pics, Nat :)

I haven't even managed a clean forward lap yet, let alone both laps :scared:

Not sure if you know this already, but there's two version of the 205 Rallye car. There's the one you're driving (350hp) and there's the 205 Evo II Rallye car, which looks similar (same car with a bigger wing and some canards) and a little over 450hp. The Evo II is the Group B monster that's comparable to the Delta S4 or the RS200 :D

Yeah ... I think I may have opted away from the second one because I think it exceeds the allowable specs for the Historic Class :( They're virtually identical visually, but this last point was the kicker.

No worries, though, because everytime I climb into the 206, all is right with the world!!!

As for keeping it clean, Luxy, it's a whole lot easier when you're as slow as me :p

I took a look in my garage this morning, my brand spanking new one has 449hp (actual hp, when I'm viewing it, not the 456hp in the car list), so you should be good to go 👍

I'm thinking I may do a little reckie in my Fiat500 ... I should be able to stay off the invisible walls in that :p

EDIT:

Just realized that the 205 Evo II is an '86 model. Jerome, could we get a ruling here? I think the Evo II should be allowed, it's the poster child for the class.

I haven't talked about people trading cars for the series, perhaps after the first half if u dont think your car is what you are looking for I'll let you beg and plea for a new one MU HA HA HA!!! LOL. More of that later. I'm glad to see someone having as much fun as I am here at Grand Canyon. I have yet to drive my car here, instead I took a different approach. I went to the S-w/e license test in GT4 AND GT4Prologue and golded them a few times in a row each to familiarize myself with the track and how to do it right, then once I get into my cars I can pretty much go balls to the wall. I may do the same for Chamonix as the cars in the license tests *usually* handle better than 'my cars.' But tonight I will lay down some seriuos time here and let u guys know what happens. As for using a wheel....uumm....SOL comes to mind. Perhaps I can bribe Kolyana? heheh....

SHADDUP REDLINE!!!!

*cough*

:whiny: Jerrrroommmeeeee .... remember all those snacks I've fed you with??? HM????? Well ... :twiddle fingers: ... can I change car to the '86 model half way through the season????? :bats eyelids:

And yes, Luxy, that's why I couldn't pick that car originally, which only left the less powerful version ... and even with everything thrown into it, it doesn't really hit the mark.

How can a guy say no to that? Everyone has their achillies heel; mine is women, I can't say no...ever it seems...lol. Yes I originally had specified one car for the whole season but I also said I wanted to make it as fun and inviting as possible so if your car isn't what you expected I will let u change cars ONCE and ONLY ONCE no changing back so BE SURE TO DO YOUR TESTING BEFORE YOU ASK. But I hightly recommend waiting atlest until this week is over before considering a new car because last week was a short course and this a long one, plus remember we have a couple tarmacs too. I however am sticking to my Mitsubishi cars, win lose or draw, in which after last week I seemed to do all three...hehe.

Thanks Jump ... I'll test the more power 205 and let you know one way or the other. Aside from switching cars, though, note that the main problem is that it's an 86 and therefore outside of the historic group ... so, to be sure you understand, I'm talking about taking the Rally Evo II (still a peugeot), which is more powerful, an '86 and I want to enter it into the historic class (I'm sticking with my 206 ... it's as sexy as hell!!!)

HHmm....this poses a situation doesn't it. I will have to think about that. If I recall correctly the reason why I made the cut off at '85 is to prevent the '86 from dominating the Historic field, its powerful enough to compete in the WRC IMO. Lemme do some testing and I'll let u know in a week or whenever I have time to test.

Hrm ... I don't think that argument really holds water

Ford RS200 Rally Car '85 == 442hp
Lancia Delta S4 Rally Car '85 == 449hp
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution II Rally Car '86 == 449hp

I think it fits in perfectly and also makes sense historically, since 1986 was the final year of Group B.

Just out of curiosity, how much power did the Starion Rally Car you and Max were driving have (I haven't check to see what sort of numbers it gets when tuned)?

EDIT:

Was just digging around about Group B on Wikipedia, and ran across Climb Dance again.

Climb Dance

Everyone's probably seen it before, but it's well worth watching again. Ari Vatenen in a Peugeot 405 T16 Rally car doing the Pike's Peak hill climb, which looks a lot like Grand Canyon ... amazing. (The 405 T16 came after the 205 T16, after Group B ended. It had about 600 hp and 4-wheel steering) If you don't want to get dirty after seeing that, there's something wrong with you!

The Starion is good for a maximum of 460 HP. However, getting all that power to the ground while staying in control has proved to be the challenge behind the car. :banghead:

By the way, Luxy. That link is dead. :)

Thanks, Maxzillian ... I wasn't sure about the Starion, some of the cars I tried would either be way over or under, but you couldn't get parts that'd put it on or near 460

Re: the video, that's funny, I'm downloading it right now .... :p

Here's the page it's on: http://www.gofastvideo.com/gallery/item/predownload/128/free-racing/videos/climb-dance.html

Yeah the hp in the old skool Mistu is kinda decieving, but I did do some laps in the '86 and it wasn't TOO much faster than my Starion, I just need to make sure is all. I'll let u all know. Taking Luxy's point into consideration as well, especially since he beat myy WRC car :grumpy: LOL Great job Luke! I am also adding in SimRaceDriver's times from last week as he sent them in early, but I had misplaced which car he chose, I think it was because I wasn't at home initially, but anyway I'll add him now and then add some times to the LB!

EDIT: Points LB Updated, some place changes were made etc..

Luxy, I'm getting a dead link, too.

Jump Ace, *cough* Jerome ... as for testing ... aside form ensuring that it's not a dominant car, of course, i'd be interested to hear your thoughts on my current 205 ... slightly older, much less powerful. Maybe you can do that while you're over here this weekend? I'd liek to know if it's just me, or really if it is underpowered :)

EDIT:
Just downloaded the video directly from the page Luxy linked to ... IT'S INSANE!!!! They drive next to cliffs like that with no barriers? ARE THESE MEN MAD????

Quite the video.

So, how many 'fall off' each year, eh?

I ran afew laps in my Historic car and was able to get a clean run saved for both stages. I left loads of time on the track but at least I have a ghost to chase. 👍

Historic: Forward
T1) 1'14.963
T20 1'45.787

Historic: Reverse
T1) 49.709
T2) 1'20.706

I had no idea what this guy was doing and I almost ran over him. :irked:

But now that I think about it, he was just trying to take a picture of Nat.

I took a bunch of pics so if you would like to see them click here.

EDIT:
Thanks for the video Luke 👍 ! You know of any more good ones?

Some splits for y'all. I ran out of time to run in my little Eclipse, but that is always another story :ouch:

Jerome, where are you getting these splits from? I mean ... I can't figure out how the splits *I* posted equate to those on your leaderboard ... you seem to have something completely different written down .. :boggled:
