Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing without a doubt, though you CAN garner much amusment from the sheer craptasmicalness of it all.

NFS:U wasn't a terrible game, it was good for a short while. Then you realise "hey, every single car is almost exactly the same in the way of performance". Very shallow game so it didn't last long, plus Burnout 2 does this genre soo much better.

NFS:U isn't that bad i suppose. you can drift in it too, but on a oiled streets or whatever :P NFS:U is okay. now burnout 2 is pretty darn good :sly:

as much as of a champcar freak i am, i state that CART FURY is the WORST racing game of all time. its bull****. who has ever heard of taking a dirt road shortcut at chicago motor speedway. they chopped the surfers paradise track IN HALF. the car characteristics was stupid. who has heard of lifting the accellator coming off a big straight to go around a HAIRPIN. its crap

please, somebody, make a GOOD champcar game

I'd have to say Auto Modellista, I don't rent many games, but that was one of my least favourite racing genre games.

Auto Modellista...BEat IT! To easy for my standards.
NFS:U =ok, but got boring. WHY THE HELL DID EA SWITCH TO RICING. WTF HAPPENED TO RACING BAD ASS LAMBOS! EA! If you're not gonna use the damn licenses, then let PD take them!

On a different note, 18 wheeler is the Godfather of arcade driving games, but the PS2 version sucked.

The Dukes of Hazard series- yawn.👎

Test Drive 5 was okay.....It had a nice selection of vehicles, but the performance was overated. Example. A Chevelle SS 454 topped out at 186, and was basicly the same specs as a Viper GTS. A ZL1 Vette did 205. :sly: A 1969 Charger cop car went 225.:mischievous: They threw in a miata look-alike that went 180. WTH? :dunce: The physics went nuts every now and then. A car would bottom out, then somehow shift to standing on its right wheels. The Automatic transmition was hyper-active, when you hit the brake, it would go from 6th to first, then to 3rd and then you would spin out. Anything more than 4 gears seemed to spin out above 160 mph. Some cars had very ackward engine notes. The '98 vette sounded like a 6-speed vending machine. The AI loved being pricks, shoving you into "pedestrian" vehicles. The AI would cheat a lot. In the results it said top speed, average speed, ect. and the AI always went faster than the car's true top speed. The Charger I get goes 178, the AI gets a blown version that I've seen do 247 (but normally 195.) You get 37 vehicles (A plus 👍 ) ranging from the Awesome (Speed 12, Charger Daytona) to the completely Ubsurd (Pitbull Special, a Ford Bronco that was FF  and went 229 mph. )

C'mon.

We made it to post #73 and no one mentioned Nitto.

I have no idea if you want to call it a " racing " game, but Micro Machines. That game = 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 That's probably why they have it for sample play at Target on the PS1. :dopey:

Iniitial D: Mountain Vengence, is by far the worst adaptation from a Japanese Manga. And I bet it was tottaly supervised by TokyoPop, not Kodansha or Sega-Rosso.

I'm reminded of a movie spin off racing game for NES called Days of Thunder.
That was the worst racing game I ever want to play. There was absolutely nothing to the game outside of doing qualifying laps and races around oval tracks with really strange colour combonations. The AI never had to pit during a race but you always did! Once in the pits you had to control the pit guys yourself, one at a time with the most awkward control feel.

No matter how hard you tried to push it the leaders were almost impossible to beat. The music was frieghtening and the game pointless.

I'm sure of the dozens of attempts I made at learning this game I only ever won 1 race. How I did that remains a total mystery to me. One day, perhaps, when I'm older, more wise, I may meditate on it.

Until then, GT4

Rage Racer, an old arcade racing game for the PSX. Dreadful. Porsche Boxer Challenge wasn't a lot better. And a Formula 1 racing game, also for the PSX, can't remember the name exactly.

There was a NASCAR racing game for the Super Nintendo that I once played as a rental. Here's all I can remember about it.

I played it, did a few races, fumbled with the track maker, got tired of the announcing... it sucked major ass. Can't tell what the name of the game was, but it was the worst racing game I ever played on the SNES.

Rage Racer was great, Porsche Challenge also...., as well as NFS:uUand the PGR series... wtf are you all talking about ?

Ok, Dukes of hazzard or big rig-something like that-truck racing or maybe Test drive Off Road.... but half of the games mentioned above are true classics... may be you didn't like it, maybe you are too young and your first console was PS2 or you simply sucked at playing them, but they were by far not bad from a neutral point of view... 💡

NFS:U 1 and 2, midnight club 1 2 and 3, and all star racing on PS1.

wtf is up with all you lot who keep saying PGR suck and is copletely **** lalalalal??

that is a fine showing of GT junkies at work, no idea at all, PGR is a great game with great graphics and good gameplay.

hey... dont badmouth midnight club... its way better than gran turismo and project gotham... (project gotham...it sounds like something out of batman)... ive got all three games and midnight club 3 is by far the best of them....

You can't even compare Midnight Club and Gran Turismo. They are two completely different genre's of racing.

Thats like comparing Mario Golf and Tiger Woods Golf. Or MVP Baseball and Backyard Baseball.

Gran Turismo is a racing SIMULATOR. And the best one out there for that matter.

Forza, Project Gotham, Midnight Club, NFS, those are all ARCADE racing games. Midnight Club 3 is my probably my second favorite game right now, next to MVP Baseball.

The bottom line is that you can't say that MC or GT is the better racing game because they are in two completely different genres.
