I wouldn't say that Forza and PGR are Arcade games, they are quite realistic as well...
Ok so I was wrong on that, as I don't have an XBox nor have I ever played either, I was going by what I've heard/read.

It still doesn't change my main point that you cannot compare Midnight Club and Gran Turismo as they are two different types of racing.

definately right about that. pgr2 is kinda arcadey, but forza isn't. midnight club was a good racer.

Nascar Racing on PS1.

The game is soo terrible. For starters, they tried to make the game realistic (but failed) so when you tap on the acclerator, the car spins around so many times, the race would finish before you got control of your car. By the way there are only 3 cars to use. (and each of them go no faster that a WW2 tank)

Another thing is that stupid black flag. During a race, I get the black flag and it tells me to go to the pits. I go, change my tires, get fuel and the other necessities needed for nascar racing and I go back on the track and a second later, I get that black flag AGAIN! (by now, I would started playing something else.)

Another game would have to be ATV: Offroad racing. Acctually, its not a bad game. Its just very frustrating.

the fact that they are two completely different types of games doesnt matter... it comes down to what game you have more fun playing... thats what i meant... and for me its midnight club 3...

My worst racinggame : Colin 04 . Colin 2.0 on the PS ONE was a lot of fun but Colin O4 is just sloooooow. PGR 2 is a GREAT game. I don't care if it should be called arcadey or realistic, it's great and it feels realistic and the races are very hard. No chance of falling asleep here. PGR2 is a classic. Back to my exciting B-spec endurance race ...

👍 Agreed.

Two words: Forza Motorsports

It's as though Microsoft said "Hey, lets make a mediocre racing game, add online play and hype it up to be better than GT4 even though it's basically Project Gotham Racing's graphical and gameplay engines but with a SLIGHTLY more diverse group of cars."

Don't get me wrong, I am quite a big fan of the XBox and I enjoy many of the games for it (Halo, Fable, Crimson Skies, etc...), but they really need to stop making racing games to compete with the GT series. No other racing series will even equal the GT series. Name one that has come out recently that does this and I will retract my previous statement

I would rather buy that new Enthusia racing game when it comes out, if it isn't already out now.

NISMOSkyline, you better hope Code_kev or somebody reads your last post...

As far as Forza goes, even I said in the past that it was going to have an uphill battle trying to beat Gran Turismo 4. But if you really think about it, at least XBOX owners have a game to be proud of that's every bit of GT4 and then some. So it isn't a true disappointment. Even I find myself playing Forza at game stands, just trying to learn and study the game comparing it to GT4. If you usually study racing games as I do, you'll really know what it's like to play one game then be able to find faults and strengths of the game compared to your favorite racing game.

errm, no, microsoft didnt hype it to be better than GT4, the reviewers did, it is actually better than GT4 so it doesnt matter how it was hyped, and you cant compare it too PGR, yeah the graphics are simalair, but HELLO!!! microsoft game studios make both games? PGR is arcade forza is sim, graphics is where the simalarity ends, it has a better range of cars than GT4 imo, yeah GT4 has 700 cars, but you wont drive them all, ever, citroen 2Cv, fiat 500r, 69 types of skyline, whats the effin point, forza gives you car that you WANT to drive, ferraris, porsches, high end cars, good race cars, i mean hell, the slowest cars in the game still have over 150bhp.

il name one that has come out rcenetly that equals and beats the GT series, hell il name 4 (1 is not out yet i dont think)

Enthusia, Forza, GTR and R factor.

I suppose you have a good point. However, the 650+ cars in GT4 are there not just to be driven, but to provide a rich and detailed history of the automobile. I challenge you to prove that Forza accomplishes this. I like a lot of depth to my racing games, and that is exactly what GT4 offers.

Granted, Forza has excellent graphics, and 200+ cars is not shabby at all but why do we need this game? It doesn't bring anything new and unprecedented to the genre. GT4 gave us the photo mode, driving missions, B-spec mode, a diary of racing progress, and my personal favorite: The Nurburgring circuit (What other racing games have included a track of this distance and difficulty?)

But I guess a static, generic racing game like Forza is superior to GT4, isn't it?

it is clear we have different tastes for racing games, you like in depth, brining in new ideas, i like tried and tested still going, it might not offer more depth and the endurance races may suck but i like it.

as for the nurburgring, project gotham racing 2 had it before GT4, grand prix legends had it nearly 10 years ago, and add ons for games like F1 2002 have included it.

anyway, he have major differences of games so i dont think arguing it will help at all.
but i do see your point.

Ok, no problem.

And thanks for the heads up on the Nurburgring. I didn't know so many games had already used it. The sheer track length would seem to be reason alone not to use it. :)

700 cars in GT4 : who cares if somebody will drive them all or not ? Maybe I only drive
50 but I absolutly want to drive a V-spec II Nür N1 or a Midnight Purple ? Or the 2CV ? It's not about driving all 700 cars, it's about choosing yourt 20 favorites out of 700 instead out of 200.... Please note, that I can live happily with 50 - 200 cars in a racing game, but 700 cars can never be a bad thing...

Well put 👍

worst racing game ive ever played is Road Rage 3. its a drifting game where you drift up hills but race at the same time with upgrades and stuff it sounded cool, it looked cool on the back cover, the price was cool $30 nz but it most definatly aint.
